Delocated is actually the most plot-driven show on adultswim. It's linear, the episodes aren't self contained, which is really refreshing. On a related note, I love ATHF as much as the next guy, but the characters on Delocated make their decisions that further the plot through some kind of reasoning, there is always an explanation. I believe Delocated serves as a welcome break from the surreal self contained programming that has always dominated AS. Not that there's anything wrong with that kind of programming.
The wordplay in this show can also match T&E, and T&E was built on wordplay. Examples: "my dog, dingdongfootball was killed by the mob."
'"you wouldn't let me get inside your lady-chicken". And this is only one aspect of the humor, the rest of the humor comes from irrational decisions, and the running gags (part of every agen't schedule involves banging Susan, no exceptions. Mirminsky family repeatedly misfiring bullets aimed at John and accidentally murdering the adjacent person)
Also, the live action argument isn't valid anymore. Adultswim has chosen to go down this path, did so years ago.
