A much quicker and easier way to take care of those pesty little spoilers that appear around the board.

This thread will be used as a way to report spoilers, to let everyone know where a spoiler is so that they may avoid it completely until it is safe.

What you should do in the result of finding a spoiler.

1. Report spoiler to the mods.
2. Nicely ask the person who posted the spoiler to edit it.
3. Skip over to this thread to post the alert (name of thread & maybe what page and post number has the spoiler)  Remember do NOT report the name of the member who is spoiling.
4. Go back to spoiler and see if it has been edited.
5. Once the spoiler has been removed please take a second to post that fact in this thread.
6. If you are posting a reply with actual content don't reply directly to the post that is a problem.  If it's deleted a mod will often delete all replies to it.
7. Never EVER quote a spoiler in a reply.  That's just making the spoiler more obvious.

It's simple, because CC-Kallen cannot PM, this thread will be used to report spoilers.

Whenever you see a post in this thread check it to make sure that there aren't any spoilers posted on the boards that couple spoil something for you.

Well this will make the process a lot easier, quicker and more efficient. Plus it would prevent a large amount of users who could be spoiled.

I can't even count how many times I've told someone to edit their spoiler, usually though a certain helper suggests it again right after I post it though.

There's another unmarked spoiler in the "Who is the Main Character?" thread, by the same usual suspects.  They put an unmarked spoiler directly above a tagged spoiler... I really don't get it.

This is why I don't even bother reading any of the threads here.  Not only are most of them asinine, untinteresting crap like "Anri's boobies and glasses fan club", but these people can't help but put spoilers into every single last thread in the folder.

I bother to actually click into a thread that's not an ep thread, and this is what I get for my trouble.  Should have known better.

By the way, I don't like the idea that we should have to go back into the threads and see if the spoiler was removed, and then make note of that here.  I reported that post and got out of there because I was sure there were more unmarked ones.  That whole thread needs a once over.  It's too bad, because that thread was actually interesting until the fanboys and fangirls came in with their dualing spoiler tags (basically a blank post for newbies like me) and eventual unmarked spoiler (ruined the series for newbies like me). 

I'm not going to back in there and "check" so that I can get further spoiled, and we shouldn't be expected to "make note" of this.  The way it is handled in other folders, is the Helper will (sometimes) update that the spoiler has been removed.  I think it is extremely illogical and inconsiderate that you would ask this of the user base.  Well, at least of the new viewers, anyway.  Say what you will about the Bleach folder, but their spoiler report set up makes a lot more sense than this.

This folder is done this way because CC-Kallen can't use the PM system yet.  This folder is the only way to contact him.  So good or bad, we are stuck with it until he reaches PM privilege age.

What I'm talking about has nothing to do with that.  I'm talking about how this thread's rules are laid out.  You can't expect regular users to go around doing that, especially if they're new to the series... to do what this thread says (4 & 5, specifically) would just get you even more spoiled.

And, I still don't understand why they made someone a helper who can't use the PM feature.  Should have just waited, or not done it.  Still, that's irrelevant to the thing I'm talking about.

There's nothing in the OP that says you can't use the reporting feature and just get a mod to look at it.  As a matter of fact, the HELPeRs will do exactly that after they have temp-marked the spoiler.  This thread is mainly for a time when not many mods are around and HELPeRs is all you've got.  It's purpose is to speed the response up.  >.>

Ultimately, it's the mods who must check out the spoilers and make a ruling.  Even they will not always have time to PM you that the post has been edited.  So you will wind up chekcing back on the post anyway.  (And how can you get spoiled a second time on the same message you have already read?  I mean, you know what it says. )

I report all the spoilers to the mods.  Always.  However, this thread is also a warning to other users to stay away from said threads until they are taken care of.  Before someeone takes care of it, we don't want other people to get spoiled.  That's the idea.  Hence spoiler alert.

Because that's not the only spoiler they posted, of that, I'm fairly certain.  It was yet another case of people trying to have an interesting and thoughtful discussion (God forbid that here), pose questions, and then the cavalcade of fanboys and fangirls show up and got butthurt for whatever reason and felt the need to defend their show with dueling spoiler tags, to newbies that will never click them, mind you, and in the process also did some unmarked spoilers, as they are wont to do. 

They consistently ruin every thread with this behavior.  

They have scores and scores of spoiler-allowed threads, so they have no excuce and no reason to destroy myself and other new viewers' enjoyment for Durarara, by polluting all the other threads with these inconsiderate, unthinking actions.

That, and they're talking about stupid crap that isn't interesting.  Are these people twelve?  They've never seen boobs?  Do we really need multiple threads talking boobs and glasses, and other such nonsense?  The only boobs I'm concerned with are the people continuously ruining this folder.

If I go back into the thread, I'll get spoiled on more things because they spew spoilers like it's going out of style.  That thread has been reported to the mods, and now some poor mod is going to have comb through a once-good thread and clean up these people's mess, because they don't ever learn.  Not ever.  It's the same people doing the same shit.

The truth is that a lot of the people posting here are either underage, or super-excited, and both conditions make for thoughtless mistakes.  You can't take it personally.  And I know just by reading the title that a thread mentioning boobs is not going to be aimed at people searching for though-provoking discussion. 

Don't take any of this personally, but everybody's tastes are different and you just have to be prepared to put up with them all.  It's just like broadcast TV.  A lot of the shows cater to a thoughtless mindset; but a few of them are gems.  Find out which is which and avoid the ones you don't want to see.

Well, this is Adult Swim, not Prepubescent Swim, you know!  Remember the classic Adult Swim bump "All kids out of the pool!"  And I wasn't underage when I joined the forums!  Why does Adult Swim let them on here?!  Damn kids!

Perhaps you're right and they're merely mistakes and it isn't on purpose.  However, it's still very frustrating, and I feel like there is no thread I can go to that is safe.  That being said, I'm at least a lot less upset then I was earlier, after our little discussion.  So, thanks.

I've noticed... it seems almost no one here shares my tastes of wanting to talk about all the mysteries and craziness going on in Ikebukero, and about all the the characters, and how they're all connected by so few degrees of separation. 

The episode threads quickly get buried and both of the Newbie threads have rules that are not to my liking, or run by someone not to be trusted not to spoil.  Both have failed already and are off the first page.  I guess I'll just have to live with it, but it would be nice to have more substantive discussion, and while DRRR is pretty wild, I wouldn't call it something that "caters to the thoughtless" in the least.  I rarely miss things in the stuff I watch, and I have to watch just about every episode twice to get everything and understand it fully.  To say this show doesn't require thought is folly.  But, there's not really much I can do about it, I suppose.  Again, thanks for the talk.

My analogy was meant to compare the posts that you considered childish with some of the TV shows that others have called childish; and to emphasize that there is a similar choice in dealing with both.  That choice involves finding a more satisfying alternative and gravitating to that.

I never meant to say that this show caters to the thoughtless.  It is far from that both in theme and execution, and even evokes some of the sentiments of the movie "Rashomon".  But there is an overall mentality that sometimes randomly infects people and generates a lot of adrenaline during passages of tension or conflict, or if they enjoy something immensely.  They have to do something with the rush.  They have to share their enjoyment, and it comes out as getting carried away.

It isn't meant to turn people off.  Far from it.  There is a desire to share the parts of the show that creates that high, and in the excitement of the moment, a little too much comes out.  It's like the boy who wants to show off his new toy on Christmas morning, except the phenomenon isn't restricted to boys, or children.  You just have to take all that enthusiasm with a grain of salt and try to avoid the places where it commonly occurs.

On the other hand, there is no rule that prevents you from starting your own thread with a different set of parameters for show newbies who want to avoid all spoilers.  If you tend to it, you can keep it alive.  It may even be a big enough success to beat the others and stay on the front page.

I've never seen Rashomon, but I think I get what you mean.  The only problem is that nearly every thread I look at seems to be of discussing these frivolous aspects of the show that seem to give people "their high". 

I have considered starting my own thread, but the show is already 7 episodes in at this point, so it seems a bit late for such a thing, not to mention that there's already 2 that supposedly serve the same purpose, 3 would be about the cut-off limit, though there should only be 1, really... that, and people tend to get the wrong idea about me, or might not be interested in what I have to say, so many of my threads aren't successful, and I wouldn't have high hopes for this proposed thread in this folder, either.  Besides, no one responds to my posts on the episodes in the episode threads, what makes you think they'd care if I made a thread?

Film_Nut - Didn't look like opinion to me.  Someone posted something directly above a spoiler tag that should have been in that spoiler tag.  I'm not going to say who did it because that's against the rules of the thread, and I'm not repeating the spoiler because I don't want to spread it to others.  If you like, I could PM you and tell you what I'm talking about, since you aren't new to the series.

I looked at that thread, but it didn't stoke my interest at first.  And it's more about philosopy and other abstract things than anything else, but maybe I'll give it another look-see.

I have edited and removed all the spoilers that have been seen, I have also taking the liberty of reporting said user. If any more spoilers are posted report the user to me so that I may edit it and then to a mod to do there job.
