I'm with you on the terrible "misunderstanding fueled plot" ruining the show, though I definitely wouldn't call this "a great show". Not when only the 1st 1/3rd of the show is somewhat reminiscent of Baccano's greatness, and by the time that 1st arc ended, they made the side characters' appearances subdued. Kida being the Yellow Scarves leader was pretty obvious from the start as he kept being asked back into the Yellow Scarves by the crew when he told them that he quit. Obviously, the show was made to help boost novel sales, as in there, you'll find out about Celty's head or Izaya's future endeavors as the "villain" or even his sisters who following the ending of the series are not only introduced but are much more badass than they lead on.
From what I read in the novel translations, the future arcs are much better than the Saika & Romance of the Three Kingdoms knock-off arc with the novel not only making Mikado more awesome but also introducing a serial killer to the series & goes deeper into Walker & Erika's sociopathic tendencies.
Also, I can some insecurity involving both Izaya's sisters' antics and Erika's yaoi shipping, as if seeing these three characters who get barely any screen time throughout the series have ruined it all for you. And really, "a blight to the anime community"? The 2chan seiyuu stalkers who want to kill Aya Hirano or the NEET moe otaku who buy up Strike Witches and Seikon no Qwaser like hot cakes and fap on their 20,000 yen figures are upstanding citizens of the Anime Community, but those who think that Shizuo might be a little too obsessed with Izaya and vice-versa could be seen as homoerotic are destroying the lucrative reputation that the Anime Community represents? Please.
Quoting yours because this post is chock-a-block full of concentrated content, croiky!
Good points on all of that and I hear you, but I could have done without the spoilers, even on Erika and Walker. Just because I was disappointed with the Anime and those two irk me, doesn't mean I wanted spoilers. Spoilers are against the TOS unless the thread is specifically marked and specifically says they are allowed. Honestly, that sounds kinda cool about Erika and Walker... I really wish you hadn't spoiled that, boyo. D:
Lol, so you say it isn't a great show, huh? Yet, you profess greatness on the books and manga. What logic or sense does that make? That's like the Kekkaishi fans saying the Anime is crappy compared to the manga. But...the...Anime...is still that first arc of the manga. So they're basically saying that first arc sucked, and you're basically saying the first book sucked. Aaaaalllllrrriiiiiighty, then.
I honestly thought he was a part of the Yellow Scarves, but not necessarily the Boss. I have to admit I am not too familiar with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Story. Looks like I need to make myself familiar, though! It's a good story, from what I have heard over the years.
Other than that, I am with you on the first paragraph.
Umm, until you just said that, I knew nothing of these other people you just described. Ignorance was bliss...until now. And, I don't know... I still find yaoi/yuri fans and shippers in general to be an embarrassment. They aren't in it for the value of the great story and the great characters of franchises. They are just there to fap and finger themselves to the "hawt" character and play matchmaker. It's such a dumbing down insult to the industry it is not even funny. They're taking the lowest common denominator, their basest animal instincts, and making that the crux of their so-called "fandom". They aren't real fans, in my book. Not by a longshot. They are a cancer. A pox on our house that is already so easily shat upon by non-Anime fans as it is, that we don't need these perverts giving the haters even more ammunition. I'm not the only one who holds this opinion, either. Some other very respectable AMSBer's agree with me 100% on this matter.
Also, those people that watch shows like Lucky Star and K-on are kinda' creepy too. They're like the Bronies of the Anime Fandom. Their pedophilia tendencies make my skin crawl.

amazon has a manga for durarara listed to come out next month
what's that all about?
is that like the light novels but is it a different take on them for americans?
I haven't the faintest clue. I'm sure the other DRRR fans filled you in, though. I was under the impression that Light Novels are like the Young Adult Novels of Japan, from what I could understand. I could be wrong, though.

Well yeah, because they only covered one of the books. That would be like if Peter Jackson only made a movie of The Fellowship of The Ring and stopped. So, not really a fair comment. Then again, maybe it is, since the adaptation should still stand its own, and DRRR, as it is, currently stands on a three-legged table made of dog crap.
Especially when you consider that supposedly Baccano didn't cover all of its books, and that show is God-level tier near maybe even the Holiest of the Holy that is Cowboy Bebop. MAYBE... It's close...to Bebop, possibly a few notches below, in my opinion. Baccano was definitely was a great show, and it didn't help matters that DRRR, a series by the same author and one would hope comparable quality, stumbled and failed to deliver on so many levels, as it currently stands as an Anime.

From what I understand the novels were not translated nor sold in America, so I am pretty much screwed on that. Plus, they're probably expensive, whether they are or not.
Erika didn't exhibit that characteristic at all, until the last episode. I hope the twins and her were meant to be parodies. Even so, they very much irked me. "Yaoi fangirls" are a blight on the Anime community, in my opinion. I wish they'd just stick to watching ABC Family teen dramas and leave me alone and not pollute things with their inane behavior.
No she mentioned shipping it like five-seven episodes before the show ended. It was just before they revealed who the real slasher is.
She's also bisexual. Which is entirely accurate since there are many bisexual and lesbian yaoi fangirls.
And Walker is not any better. He dreams of having his own harem made of girls.
I must have missed that. Thanks though. Someone else pointed it out as well. I'll keep an eye out for it if I see the episode again.
I don't know what the ">" means, except as a right-facing arrow or to mean greater than, because I speak and write proper English with no accent, and don't use illiterate internet kiddy leet speek, so I have no clue what you meant with that illogical sentence.
I could do without your Erika spoiler as well. You people sure are brazen and uncaring about your spoiling, I swear.
Her being that is neither a plus nor a minus, in my opinion. Changes my opinion on Erika, it does not. Anyway, I am not attracted to women of that ilk ever since I was betrayed by some long ago. I don't hate them and instantly distrust and distance myself from them anymore, but I'll never find it "hot" ever again. Those witches ruined it for me.
Walker is annoying, too, but not as much. He gets really annoying with the stupid fantasy stories he constantly narrates. I just want to bitchslap him and tell him to stfu. His harem is not admirable either, but I haven't heard of it before now either, so that gives you an idea of how much less of an irksome annoying presence and impression he makes with comparison to Erika.
