Durarara!!

whenever i try to talk to people online(my instant messenger  some lobbies in video games while i got my mic on or a voice chat in ps3)it's always hard to discuss this show because i can't really explain too well and nobody i run into seems to watch it nor have they heard of it

it just makes me feel like i am one of the few people watching durarara on adult swim....doesn't help that the only anime that gets recognized on the ratings chart is bleach which i am sure  every anime fan knows so it's not hard to discuss that but something like durarara? jeez i'd be lucky if i found one person who knew anything about it.....

I've watched it every week. I like it enough to hold my interest but don't really know what to make of it as a whole. I feel like not being familiar with modern Japan is making me miss out on alot with the show, but I definitely still like it.

If you've seen the ratings, then you would realize that yes, you are in a very, very, very, very small minority watching.

Yeah because the only people who would have seen DRRR!! are watching it on [adult swim]. It's not like there's a huge amount of anime fans watching entire series online or anything.

That's not even close to what I said and you know it.

I first watched DRRR!! on crunchyroll, a completely legal and legit anime streaming site AND I'm also watching it air on [as]. It also streams on Hulu another completely legal and legit streaming site. It's ridiculous to assume that the only way anime fans watch new series is when it airs on [as]. (It's also ridiculous to assume that Nielsen ratings always completely and fully reflect the amount of viewership any particular show has.)

If [as] ever decides to stop airing anime, it'll be because not enough of the anime fanbase is waiting for American releases of series to watch it, but not because anime isn't as good or as popular as [as]'s Comedy line up.

Actually, a lot of it is due to it not being anywhere near as popular as the comedies. The rest is that you can only get the comedies from Adult Swim and its subsidiaries, while anime is gotten from other sources, nearly all illegal.

That's why you  can come here.  We at least have each others back on a show like this.

My friend that lives in Japan and does art for a living there. Is a huge fan of it. He like has so much stuff signed by the voice actors and so on.  However, right now he can't draw do to being caught up in the mess that took place in Japan in March.

dont feel bad, get that all the time, your trying to explain it but people just a weird look like they have no idea what your talking about, and some will even say as much, but i soon remember that im not watching it to talk about with anyone else, im watching it because its what i like to watch and im a hardcore anime fan, there arent many anime i dont watch, so if theres ever an anime you want to talk about pm me and ill be happy to talk about it with you, and if i havent ill go watch it

it's sad to think this is the only show that keeps me watching adult swim and once it's gone i'll have no reason to watch the anime lineup

Or maybe Durarara isn't very good. You can't rip apart every other show because people don't like yours. In this case, turn the gaze inward. Why is Durarara repulsive to the masses?
