Latest episode is a blatant rip off...

[ Edited ]

Soooooo...who's the hack who stole the ENTIRE PREMISE for the latest Eagleheart episode from Michael Kupperman? Hasn't anyone else read Tales Designed to Thrizzle? oh...that's right...EVERYONE HAS...I'm a huge fan of both Chris Elliott and Brett Gelman  and so far have enjoyed the show a great deal. It's just hard for me to believe that with so many comedians on the show and behind the scenes, that  noone involved has read the Kupperman version. At the very least he should be listed in the credits. For shame hack writers, for shame...

Hey.

I worked on Eagleheart. Someone just brought this to our attention. I'm a huge Kupperman fan and we're friendly and have a lot of mutual friends. I think the man is a genius. When we were working on that episode, I remembered the "Sex Blimp" in "Snake and Bacon" and double-checked it to make sure we didn't think it was too similar or stepped on anything he had done. I don't remember all the details, but I think an early version of the episode had Chris becoming a sex slave in a Requiem For a Dream-style scary sex party in the blimp, and I'm pretty sure I killed it because I thought anything sex party and blimp related was too close. But I hadn't seen the fine print in his later comic "Tales Designed To Thrizzle Volume 1" that had a line with a joke that I agree, is very close to the basic premise of that episode (about all things in the sky being legal). I assure you, it was not intentional. I e-mailed Michael and apologized for not having caught it. No one working on Eagleheart - myself or the show's two creators, Michael Koman and Andrew Weinberg, would knowingly steal an idea. It would be stupid and insane, and unnecessary. Kupperman was completely cool about it and responded with "great minds think alike".

Otherwise, glad you like it!!

I honestly wasn't shooting for a reply, though I appreciate it to be sure. And hey, if Kupperman doesn't have a problem with it than who am I to judge. Love the show, love the cast too. Just a huge fan of Kupperman. Strange thing is, i had just started re-reading Tales Designed to Thrizzle and came across the Sex Blimp/Sex Hole cartoon just hours before watching your episode... I mean what are the odds!? Just one long series of coincidences i guess! Sarcasm aside, Kupperman should be listed in the credits....p.s. I'm assuming this is Jason Woliner...cool beans. Tell Aziz I said hi...
