Cuz I didn't mention it in the LFO section and I didn't want more image links other than the character names in the bios section.

That's really pretty much it. Here's theEND if you want to see it. :smileyhappy:

Really, aside from the fact that both series have "mechs" in them and Eureka has a couple scenes/sequences that show an Eva influence, the series is really nothing like Eva at all.

And Renton is pretty much the anti-Shinji. :smileyhappy:

So just a little piece of errata:

It seems that, contrary to prior reports, episode 50 will apparently have no episode title. If this is true, then you can just ignore the episode 50 title given in the episode listing and references section in this FAQ.

That's all for now.

Was there any speculation as to what the title of Episode 50 was gonna be?

From what I've been told, the official site says "subtitle pending" for episode 50 now.

I don't know any kanji, though, so meh.

So between things I didn't get to include the first time, things that other people pointed out, a few revisions, and a couple additions that are purely my own, here are some additions and revisions, all consolidated in one place, to the Name References section.

WHAT'S IN A NAME? - REVISIONS AND ADDITIONS

Axel Thurston

Named for Guns 'N' Roses frontman Axl Rose

Thurston

The Thurston family name comes from Thurston Moore, singer and lead guitarist of Sonic Youth.

Ray and Charles Beams

Multiple references here. The first is a cute pun (Ray Beams). The second reference is yet another musical reference, as they are named for legendary performer Ray Charles. And finally, they are also named for famed furniture designers, architects, filmmakers, and all-around cool couple Charles and Ray Eames.

Summer of Love

Named for the nickname given to the atmosphere in San Francisco in the year 1967, when the hippie movement gained a great deal of momentum and people from around the country flocked to the neighborhood of Haight-Ashbury, hippie capital of the universe.

Second Summer of Love

Named for the term used to describe the summer of 1989 in Britain, which saw the rise of Acid House music and the explosion of rave culture.

Tresor

One of the most famous night spots in Berlin, Tresor is an underground techno nightclub and record label.

SH-101

Named for the Roland SH-101 synthesizer.

Joy Division

Named for the famed but short-lived band of the same name formed in 1977 in Manchester. Though they only released two albums, they are viewed as one of the more innovative and influential bands of their time. After dissolving in 1980 with the death of frontman Ian Curtis, the surviving members went on to reform as New Order, whose famous hit single "Blue Monday" provides the name of the series' first episode. The band in turn derived its name from the groups of Jewish women who served as sex slaves in Nazi concentration camps, as depicted in the 1955 novel, The House of Dolls.

Fun fact: Trésor also means "treasure" in French.

Some of the mech designs seem similar to ones from Martian Successor Nadesico. Specifically this one (to the Mon-Soono type20) and the one in the background here (to the tr909). Maybe I'm just imagining things.

There's also a character named Yurika(similar to Eureka?) in the show and another named Ruri(Ruri is a main character in TR1: New Wave and New Vision).

Major kudos on this informative thread Meta! :smileyhappy:

I've never seen this show but the character designs look very similar to work by Hayao Miyazaki. Also, Eureka's(the character) design looks reminiscent of Cyborg 009 IMO.

Well, thanks for the heads-up on the newest AS acquisition and I can't wait till the premier of Eureka seveN. :smileyhappy:
