Oh, "Famliy Guy." Where do I start?
I used to love this show, but now it's just getting overplayed. Everywhere. AS isn't the only network that plays it in syndication, and quite frankly, if I ever end up watching it anymore, it's because there's nothing else on. I used to tune into AS because they played a lot of interesting stuff that other networks weren't playing, so to see them with so many cast-offs from other American channels now is a bit disturbing. It just seems antithetical to what AS has always been about.
And "Family Guy" is just that: another cast-off. People who know the show and like it (which is a lot) are going to watch anyway. It's pretty easy to recognize as you're flipping through the channels. Why, then, does it get so much commercial time? Why not pimp out the shows that don't get as many viewers during commercials so that viewers will be exposed to things that aren't as familiar to 99.999999999% of the viewing public? I think it would help out a lot of the other shows, too. What so-called "immature" FG fan wouldn't get a kick out of something like "Shin Chan's" a-s-s dance?
And why does FG get so much time, period? There are nights I've sat through FOUR episodes of FG, all on AS. For one, I hate the way AS repeats things because those of us who are up late at night and tend to leave AS on the whole time end up seeing a double-dose of the primetime stuff, but that's more of a general pet peeve. Still, whole hours of FG at a time? Just keep the time slot that gets the highest ratings and throw us something new and more interesting in the other 30-minute spot. And backing FG with other reruns like "King of the Hill" just gets a bit dull. I saw these shows when they were on Fox. Already saw some of them again in syndication.
Please, Adult Swim--don't become another lame network of overplayed syndicated shows. Give us more new stuff to watch!
Ni!
