Please do something about Family Guy.

I can't express how much it frustrates me that this show is so popular.  First off the show has no  real "jokes"  in it.  It's the same things over and over again.  The random  flashbacks to 80's and now 90's popculture, the hold something out for so long it becomes funny out of awkwardness thing, and the random falling down gag.  (the last one which they used in so many episodes they just drove it into the ground.  The most popular character Stewie is a rip off of Jimmy Corrigan The Smartest Kid On Earth.  The voice acting is just horrible.  Some of the worst I have ever heard.  The doctor, Lois father, and even Stan from American Dad have the exact same voice.  The animation is terrible, even by Hanna Barbera standards.  Family Guy represents everything I hate about people in general.  They all are so stupid and constantly need the punchlines shoved in there face.  The storyline of each Familiy Guy episode is second to the flashbacks.  Peter and Lois repeat what the current plot point is over and over just to remind the idiots watching.  And the worst part of all is the show got kicked like it should have and got brought back when great shows like Mission Hill and Undergrads get canceled.  And now they are ending King Of The Hill to make room for the first Family Guy spin off The Cleveland Show.  Joanie Loves Chachi isn't the worst spin off in history anymore I suppose.  In the end I suppose it doesn't really matter what I think.  Or even what real animators like Trey Parker, Matt Stone, John Kricalusi, Mike Judge, and Matt Groening think.  Even Kevin Smith who tried in animation vents at how much he hates Family Guy.  To Family Guy fans, idiots of America (80% it seems) please do us all a favor put a gun to your head and have your brain exit through the front of your face.

I usually just post on here when it's on. It's easy enough to ignore I suppose (easier than say... Tim and Eric), but I would rather it be something I truly enjoyed that wasn't on 15 other channels.

Well, I can't say I don't like the show.

I see the point you are making. I respect that you have at least given a good reason as to why you dislike the show [instead of the generic "famgay ** Yo Jo e! ** " I hear from people calling Family Guy fans idiots.] I do like Family Guy however, just as I love King of The Hill. What I find sad is that some of the more intelligent jokes (or at least in my opinion) are overshadowed. The most popular clips are the PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!, Puking Contest, Stewie Beats Up Brian, and the chicken fight clips. And sadly, it seems that the 'idiocy' dominates. But again, being a Family Guy fan I don't know how much right I personally have to say that. Either way, I can't blame you for feeling how you do.  I would like to see more of Mission Hill though... It comes on, but often leaves before I can get a really good viewing of it. I assume it's because of the reason you've stated in your argument.

FO REAL Family Guy is awful, I can't think of any episode that was actually funny. Can't they put something else on? I know that the short 15 min shows aren't as popular but atleast they were funny. I mean 12 oz mouse and perfect hair forever were awesome! I'd love to see AS give attention to smaller and independent cartoon houses instead of already well established high cost shows...

Hahaha that's just the responce I would expect from a Family Guy fan.  A idiotic responce with no thought put into it.  And if by the shi* you mean a pile of shi* then you would be correct.

When I was younger, I used to like Family Guy. The really old episodes before they got cancelled the first time. Stewie wasn't gay and used most of his English dictionary when it came to adjectives, Meg wasn't quite as whiny, Lois wasn't as stupid, Peter wasn't **bleep!** and....I think they developed the Chris character a bit more, actually. [He shows up less and when he does, he's not as stupid as he was. It's Seth Green after all, gotta make up in characters what he does in size! (Don't get me wrong, I love Seth Green.)]
And all of the secondary characters just ** Yo Jo e! ** ** Yo Jo e! ** now. Screw them all. And screw the drawn out jokes.
Oh, hey, I didn't realize someone was still here! Don't worry, he'll be okay. -I just wanted to see if I could help or anything..He's just sleeping there..WAKE UP! *Punches Vash* -What are you doing?! -*Vash's eyes sparkle and he raises a hand out from under the covers near his head* ' [Cute.]

How about every time Family Guy does a long, drawn out joke, [adult swim] just sticks a bump in there?

Why not?

I agree, the show only appeals to middle schoolers and it takes up a huge time slot. I only thought it was funny the first 3 seasons, now its just unfunny gag after unfunny gag that goes off on tangents irrelevant to a misshapened plot. And the fact that Adult Swim is going to green lit 'The Cleveland Show' makes me feel sick. I would rather have more anime or older shows put in place than having to watch rerun anfter rerun.

Hold on one second, REALLY? You think that "Family Guy" is awful when you just claimed that "12 oz Mouse" was awesome? My god, I would ask something obvious like "Did your mom drop you on your head?" or "Are you high beyond all reason and comprehension?" but those answers seem way too transparent.

But, really. You hate "Family Guy"? The most original thinking animation show that rivals "The Simpsons" and "SouthPark"?

Furthermore, you have a delightful "God Complex" thing going for you, original poster of this thread. You think that you have a much more sophisticated wit than most and that your taste in comedy takes more thought and that it is a shame it is relatively underground. News Flash: There MUST be a good reason that "Family Guy" has been picked up by a substantial amount of networks and "Mission Hill" only lasted 13 episodes.

Shows like "Mission Hill" and "Undergrads" and "Clone High" (taking a wild guess at one of your other favorites) had what's called a "Cult Following". CULT. Meaning that it is a minority opinion type of deal. Meaning that it has a small following. Meaning that it is not enjoyed by MOST people. Whereas "Family Guy" is loved by (according to your numbers) 80% of the nation, has found a way to pertain to most audiences with its widespread humor and topical humor, and ability to come back TWICE from FCC damnation.

I can understand that comedy isn't completely uniform. And you should too. Stop whining.

I saw a poster that asked me "What have YOU done to fight AIDs? So I punched an African.

Well I must applaud you for you well thought out response although your sentence structure is a little messed up.  But the majority of people are stupid, ignorant and stuck in there own little bubble and know very little about the world around them.  It just so happens Family Guy appeals to this group of people.  Just because it gets brought back doesn't mean it's good.  There "widespread" and "topical" humor is just complete trash.   I don't like shows like Mission Hill and Undergrads because they are cult shows I enjoy them because they were good shows.  I don't have a God complex.  I do believe in God just not in religion.  I did it to see who else agreed or disagreed with me, not to have a argument.  Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics even if you win your still **bleep!**.

um yea do nothing about it because its great. i will admit that they are running out of jokes but they make up for it in stupidity. you need a little stupidity in your life or everything would just become repetitive.like for example would we get some of the world greatest skateboarders of motocross or anything dangerous for that matter if people didnt do stupid s##t. just think of all the stupid stuff they do to become better. its just fun to watch or funny to watch but in moderation. of course your going to get bored if you watch it over and over again. now all of you should stop talking about family guy being bad and should start talking about how stupid "Delocated" and ""Drinky Crow" is. and everyone needs to be glad because futurama is finally!!!!!!!!!!!! coming back on the air.

You're kidding, right?

Are you sure you're not confusing it with T&E?

I've seen plenty of people give detailed, relevant explanations about why they dislike FG (and even more complaints from people calling T&E and their fans "gay r**tards" )... I mean it, seriously, 90% of the trash-talking involves the "horrific" notion that T&E are "FUKEN GAY"...

It's certainly more common than these "generic", irrelevant dismissals of FG you're referring to, anyway...

Yes! All that you said! Finally someone agrees with me about the reasons for the suckiness of FG. I remember back in 1999 I'd rush to the TV to turn it off as soon as the opening song started if I accidently left it on after the Simpsons ended. I too was relieved when it was cancelled in the first place and then mystified and angered when it was brought back on the air. So many great shows have been killed so fast and then for them to go back and resurrect such a lousy one, it seems the TV moguls were telling me "We are doing this to tell you that we CAN resurrect dead shows. YES, IT IS IN OUR POWER. But we will only bring back the shows you hated!"

Although now after all this time Futurama is supposedly going to be brought back by Comedy Central. On that note, watch this video I made about it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_m9tTc3IRfM

Now bring back Brak already. And while you're at it, perhaps you can make more episodes of that other classic starring Billy West, Project GeeKeR.

lol, Family Guy haters.  You know what I do when adult swim plays a show I don't like (which is very often, BTW)?  I DON'T WATCH IT.  Family Guy gets huge numbers, I thinks its still the highest rated show on adult swim.  It ain't goin' nowhere.

family guy is a funny show if you don't like just ignore it man i do agree that a.s. should spend more time on the indie shows family guy is just dumb comedy that's why so many people like it cause alot of people don't want to think when their watching a show they just wanna be entertained and if a show that's so stupid, outrageous and funny can keep them entertained for thrity minutes then let them have that pleasure man.

p.s. if a.s. wants a est. show then may i suggests Monty Python's Flying Circus or Greg The Bunny (this one isn't as est.)

Oh, "Famliy Guy."  Where do I start?

I used to love this show, but now it's just getting overplayed.  Everywhere.  AS isn't the only network that plays it in syndication, and quite frankly, if I ever end up watching it anymore, it's because there's nothing else on.  I used to tune into AS because they played a lot of interesting stuff that other networks weren't playing, so to see them with so many cast-offs from other American channels now is a bit disturbing.  It just seems antithetical to what AS has always been about.

And "Family Guy" is just that: another cast-off.  People who know the show and like it (which is a lot) are going to watch anyway.  It's pretty easy to recognize as you're flipping through the channels.  Why, then, does it get so much commercial time?  Why not pimp out the shows that don't get as many viewers during commercials so that viewers will be exposed to things that aren't as familiar to 99.999999999% of the viewing public?  I think it would help out a lot of the other shows, too. What so-called "immature" FG fan wouldn't get a kick out of something like "Shin Chan's" a-s-s dance?

And why does FG get so much time, period?  There are nights I've sat through FOUR episodes of FG, all on AS.  For one, I hate the way AS repeats things because those of us who are up late at night and tend to leave AS on the whole time end up seeing a double-dose of the primetime stuff, but that's more of a general pet peeve.  Still, whole hours of FG at a time?  Just keep the time slot that gets the highest ratings and throw us something new and more interesting in the other 30-minute spot.   And backing FG with other reruns like "King of the Hill" just gets a bit dull.  I saw these shows when they were on Fox.  Already saw some of them again in syndication.

Please, Adult Swim--don't become another lame network of overplayed syndicated shows.  Give us more new stuff to watch!

Ni!

The fall will see a lot of new episodes/shows. If you want them to stop getting these shows, though, you should go ahead and try to make your own.
