That's okay, I will continue to not only not watch Metalocalypse, but I will go on a compaign to try and get others to not watch it, characters should have flaws, if everyone thinks a band is the best guitar players in the world and that's why they love them, and the band actually are the best guitar players because they can play guitar without being able to read notes and can play the most complex guitar riffs then the band is exactly what they're made out to be, flawless, which makes the point of the show to glorify metal bands and nothing else

In Fat Guy, everyone thinks Gemberling is the perfect savior of the internet, but really he doesn't care about the internet, he's a horrible person that only cares about himself, he is the opposite of what people make him out to be, if this was Metalocalypse then Gemberling would be the greatest hero and his teeth would glint everytime he smiled, then it would be like the creators of Fat Guy made the show just to glorify themselves, kind of like what the creators of Metalocalypse did, making a whole show just so you can play metal and go on tour pretending you're a rock band instead of cartoonists.

Well...I mean, the band isn't exactly perfect. They're all totally self-centered and painfully stupid. Really, the only thing they do well is perform and negotiate their contracts. Otherwise, they're total failures as human beings. And even their extreme musical prowess can be accredited to a higher power; they're cursed to bring about the Apocalypse of Metal. Really, you take one look at Murderface and tell me he's a flawless character.

But this isn't the Metalocalypse forum anyways, so I'll shut up now with a consummate FAT GUY RULEZ!

I can only hope it is over. The only other option I could live with is a second season--on at 4 a.m. only. Give the early timeslot to something good we all want to watch.

All in all, the show seems to be pretty divisive--people love it or hate it. AS would be better served backing a show that's more popular overall.

As much as I like this show I don't think it will get a second season - but I was under the impression that this was part of the same series as Saul - and that they would make a bunch of different 10 episode shows, so the next mock low budget show would be a different show in the same format for another 10 episodes. But if Fat Guy gets another season you can be sure I'll watch it. I hate to disappoint you, but I'm sure a lot of people will. I guess you'll just have to find something else to do while it's on. If it makes you feel any better, you only have to keep yourself busy for a few minutes. When I'm dodging boondocks I have to fill a half hour. Natch.

Or I could really really really hate the show and want to encourage others who feel the same to get AS to spend money on better material. Given the number of "haters" I think I've been pretty successful in showing that as many people dislike the show as have embraced it. In the television game, I think you shoot for better than that ...

I come to boards to participate in a community and share my views. Most of the time, it's fun to see if people agree with you or alternately try to invent reasons why you come to the Internet to criticize their beloved show.

What if Fat Guy goes off the air and is replaced with a worse show, like anime? How would you feel about that? Fat Guy is a breath of Fresh air, how many ATHF clones does AS need? I'm tired of these weird for the sake of being weird shows, Fat Guy is the only show on Adult Swim with a continuing plot, if Fat Guy goes off the air they will probably replace it with that terrible Drinky Crow show

Why don't you try getting some shows that are actually bad off of Adult Swim, go complain in the Metalocalypse forum or the anime forum, Fat Guy is already getting terrible ratings, it's not going to last, you did your job, now go work on some shows that are actually crappy, are you not going to stop until Adult Swim is your own perfect television program? Do you want Adult Swim to be Metalocalypse, Tim and Eric, and Anime every day of the week?

What's your favorite show? There is no compromise, it's us against you, now the left over Fat Guy fans are not going to have anything to do but complain about your favorite show until it's taken off the air.

Is Fat Guy really your favorite show? I find that hard to believe, but to each his own.

BTW, I like Metalocalypse, hate Tim & Eric, and am indifferent to anime (some I like, some I don't). ATHF was ok for what it was. Squidbillies is quite good. Venture Bros. is the best thing on the network. There you go--you can go on those boards and attack those shows if it makes you feel better.

I happen to like all of his favorite shows, so that's right out. I also don't think bringing down other shows is going to make Fat Guy any better. Let's just keep positive, shall we? Ol' CV hasn't doomed the show, but your lack of faith might sink this ship. Stay strong, soldier, and stay focused. Second season eyes on the second season prize.

One vocal detractor isn't enough to doom any show (although I think you have more to worry about than just me), but a handful of dedicated fans can at least keep a show going for a while. If this is your favorite show, then show your support to AS.

I'm of the opinion that logical discussion should go in any thread. But I can certainly understand how fans of the show are tired of hearing how people hate the show.

I would challenge all like-minded people who dislike the show to:

• Use the existing threads to express their displeasure rather than just starting another thread stating the exact same thing
• Actually add to the discussion and raise conversation points rather than just blatantly saying "the show ** blink blink **." That just gets people mad and it really doesn't color those that dislike the show in a positive light

but fans don't come to forums to debate over their loved shows. I know some people come here just to hate, which is beyond me, but that's why there's the hatred funhouse. then you can discuss with all the other fat haters.

Or people--fans and haters--could exercise their freedom of speech and reply anywhere they want.

Maybe I'm the exception, but I love to go on boards and "debate" the shows I love as well as slam shows I dislike. It's kind of the whole purpose of discussion boards. If everyone had the same voice and same opinion, why would I ever want to go to boards? I could just blog and read my blog over and over again.

I like to read the posts of people who love fat guy as much as those who hate the show. It's nice to get a round up of disparate opinions--it broadens the mind. In the end, they are just opinions--humor is broadly subjective. The only way to "know" whether a show is terrible or alternately incredible is to watch it and decide for yourself. I happen to dislike fat guy, but I'm not closed minded enough to understand some people love it fervently--I don't attack those people but I like to see them defend their opinion, just as I like to explain my own. Talk = fun. There's no reason not to be civilized about the whole thing.

To use a current analogy, it's like what's going on with the political conventions. You can watch the speeches for one level of engagement. And you can watch the commentary for another. Or you could go online/gather a group of friends to discuss--sometimes passionately--what you think and feel. To borrow from Jimalicious' tagline, it's all good.

secondly, debating can be fun, but there's nothing to debate. you disproved your argument a little bit by saying comedy is subjective. meaning I can say "fat guy is funny" then you say "no it isn't" and we're stuck.
