to be brutally honest i first saw this in one go on adult swim during one of those burger king "have it your way" nights. I guess what i liked most was that it was crazy and funny and all over the place. i've seen this anime more times than i can count and after all these years i still find it hilarious.

I was able to connect with all of the characters very well because they all have a good bit of depth despite the brevity of the story and how chaotically colliding the various themes are as it ebbs and flows between serious tone and rapid-fire abstract humor. I also look a good bit like Naota even as an adult so that along with a somewhat similar set of personality traits to his (particularly when younger) I was just naturally drawn to his character.
