No more so than Gangstalicious or Thugnificent or anything.

Thats what I was trying to figure out. Boondocks actaully says something about the culture. Was Freaknik trying to say something? or was it just straighfoward like I took it?

In other words boondocks is a politcal cartoon

Is this a political cartoon or is it more like loony tunes in blackface?

Not in the least. Anyone offended by this should stay far, far away from Boondocks.

It's Adult Swim, so if you're a wound up, tightass (not directed at you OP) with nothing better to do than find all the Worlds problems within a cartoon then yes it was offensive....Just like the plethora of other offensive material we have all grown to love, but if you're a frequent {AS} viewer you probably had no problem with it.......I mean I'm more offended by the dude who's rapping about why I should fill out my census forms.......Really?.....Because you put it to a beat I'm supposed to be motivated to fill out forms.....Is that really what is thought of my people?

Anyhoot, If anyone is trying to avoid being offended then {AS} is not the place to hang about.........This place was made for people of all races with a sense of humor.

BTW I liked it.

Kaitlyn brought a wolf for me to fight, and refused to speak to me until I'd bested it in battle.
I did so, easily. Because there are three things that I'm the t!ts at: Barbecuing, Mega Man 2 and finding lupine pressure points.
I thought we'd mack a little after that, but she just laugh-cried manically over the wolf corpse until her face turned purple. Also, she was driving an Aztek and that's literally my only deal breaker.

Nope, not offensive at all. I haven't even watched it yet and I can tell it will not be offensive. Unless you find "rap culture" (I hate that term) as a whole offensive, in which case... OK, you win, you can be a prude and find this offensive.

Now let me once again lay it down that I like METAPOCALYPSE & see it for the parody that it is.

Still that show could be seen as offensive to white folks, cause it's making fun of the people that're fans of death metal, having a laugh at itself & the music industry that supports it, making us the audience laugh...but underneath it all you get a feel that Brendan SMall & the makers of the show are proud of being death rockers & are having a good time doing the show & getting a chance to take pride in themselves while laughing at the more ridiculous aspects of themselves.
You get that same vibe from the SQUIDBILLIES.
Are those shows offensive, or are the funny & just a little bit true? Yes they are an outright slap in the face of the PC movement because it's taboo to big up on any kind of failing in your own race. upstanding Whites are embarrassed by their Hillbillies, upstanding whites are  embarrassed by the high school drop out metalheads, upstanding mexicans are embarrassed by their gangster MS13 homies, upstand black folks are embarrassed by our own **pOp**...
...but the metalheads, hillbillies, white trash, border jumping mexicans, **pOp** & all don't really care what we think, do they? They're gonna live they life until the day the die.
FREAKNIK showed the wild side of my people having fun trying to get to a show. In between the lines of that show you saw the worst parts (NEW ORLEANS)of my race as well as some of the best (PRESIDENT OBAMA). It showed black culture thru the eyes of it's own people, from our own people trying to keep us down in order to make us fit into the white world, to regular people taking a break from their own lives to go to a party, to white people enamored by my race & showing support when it's completely wrong for them to do it. I was not offended.
We are a proud people, we'll talk about our own failures in our race amongst ourselves but we stand together united when another race tries to divide us. FREAKNIK is our show, no matter how irresponsible it might have been, you other races better wait for us to stand up as a united front & be offended by this show, before you can step up to us & be offended at this show on our behalf. Remember that!

If you're asking if it's racist and grossly immoral, the answer is yes.

If you're asking whether or not people took offense to it, that's all up to the individual. A lot of people tend to enjoy that sort of thing. It didn't take itself too seriously the way The Boondocks tends to, so I was able to enjoy it well enough.

Freaknik was prety god dam funny, im white and i can relate to alot of the black stuff that can supposedly be looked at as racist.

I got a question though, how can this show be racist with all those halarious black comedian's, if it was racist im sure black actors wouldnt do there voices. atleast thats what i think.

It wasn't offensive at all...to the contrary, it was funny and refreshing...a nice change of pace from [as]'s usual fare, IMO.

As a Black man, this was basically in the vein of Boondocks or Chappelle's show (although not as good as either of those shows).

It was basically parody, satire, and silliness...which made for a good watch (a grown-folks version of Da Mob).

But this not only had some great jokes and music...but it reminded me of why I started watching [as] in the first place.

To see programming that appreciated my viewership (like Brak and ATHF)...and Freaknik was an updated version of that [as] rebel spirit.

trying to make up fit in. i dont think so. while i am black am one that thinks while we made some advance dont stick us all in the same pot. ive never talked about failures or stood up for another one. i believe everyone has problems and needs to work on thier own to work around them.

I don't think its intent was to be offensive, and I don't think it was intrinsically offensive, but I can't say I don't see why people got that out of it. I'd still say they're wrong in thinking it's offensive, but I can see why they'd think that.

If you were offended by it, you didn't get it.  It was no more offensive than any of the stuff a typical black comedian might say in his act.

Duh! of course its offensive. all its doing is showing the whole world that most black people are nothing but ghetto, improper, street gangsters that do nothing but be strippers and players.

You have totally missed the meaning of Freaknik. It was to portray what happened in the original event in the 90's and also to add a stereotypical part to it just like all the rest of the shows on [as] so if people get so easily defended over this why doesn't anybody complain about the other shows as much? (rhetorical question)
