Well i agree to a point that i am sick and so tired of everything black on tv has to be about big buttts, gold chains, and ignorant people running wild. But it had a lot of funny moments but i did not see the show as negative as you did. And to compare the boondocks to this is a very big ugh  NO

Now, I'm not going to say Freaknik is anywhere near as clever as Coonskin, but I feel they took a similar approach by showing the worst racial stereotypes as a way to combat them.

I have to disagree.  First of all, ROFL at you taking serious offense towards anything Adult Swim produces.  This would be like me claiming that Tim And Eric portray a poor image for white men, feeding into the stereotype that we're all dweebs.  Secondly, did you not catch the message at the end?  The one about not being materialistic and greed-driven?  Freaknik is all about the positivity and LOVE, BAAAABY!  Finally, yes, I'm white, I never listen to rap, hip-hop, R&B, or any other similar genre of music (more of a metal-head), but I loved this special.  Why?  It made me laugh, want to party, and I even liked some of the music.  Gotta take things a little less seriously, man...

You didn't happen to notice that Light skinn'd was a conspiracy theorist, or that Chad and Tad were typical white frat boys? What about the horrible stereotypes on women? Like when Freaknik sings,  "Freakniks gonna need that brain, if he's ever gonna make it rain, " did you notice the women strapping on knee pads?

Wouldn't you think if there were grounds to be "embarassed," it would be held by the cast and crew on Freaknik? I hate when these topics start, man, over people misinterpreting their own feelings. It was just a cartoon. A cartoon that aired to 11:30 at night. It's not like it held any credible information, children won't be studying this in class.
I thought that Freaknik:The Musical was amazing. probably the single most original thing T-Pains ever done, and I love how he's always using the Auto-tune. Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Lil' Wayne, and even Lil' Jon and Big Boi made this one incredibly enjoyable. I was going crazy when I heard Kel Mitchell was in there, and Bootsy Collins and George Clinton? I'm not seeing any problem with Freaknik.

First of all, I find it pretty funny that someone is making assumptions of a forum name. Honestly, how much of an internet dweller are you? Go back to your internet depths of hell. Second, I have every right to express my opinion especially if I feel there are too many of these ignorant shows, anyway. Sure I guess I am a little offended after being mocked by some ignorant show that's full of coonery. Atleast the Boondocks mocks these kins of things instead of glorifies them. And yes, it does glorify them and try to show them as funny because look at the creators. Keep flaming all you want to about it not being offensive or just silly because its on adult swim. I expected more from Adult Swim because there could be much funnier shows taking it or that could haven taken it's place in that sunday lineup.

I generally agree that Freaknik was a waste. I've been a lover of hip-hop since the early 80's. That being said, the music in this "musical" was complete bull. It was overdone, overproduced (e.g. T-Pains auto-tune), boiled down crap that reduced the heart and essence of real hip-hop to **pOp**-stained misogynistic stereotypic asinine rhymes about booty shakin and hood life. Furthermore, what in the hell did Dr. Martin Luther King do for the writers to twist his words into an invocation for some ghetto-**pOp** N****-**pOp** to go down. Finally, I'm a black man who works hard every day, never had anything handed to him, grew up poor and is sick and tired of having to explain that just because a black guy is from the street he isn't automatically like the modern-day minstrels that folks of other races see on television everyday (i.e. T-Pain, Lil Wayne, etc.)... Side note: BET **pOp**!

Historically speaking, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales was just as stereotypical to the people of his time as Freaknik , Boondocks, King of the Hill, and the like to the people of our time across racial boundaries.  (Note I am not making any comparison in regards to quality or historical impact or whatever.)  Some people in Chaucer's day found the Canterbury Tales to be embarrassing, and they had every right to do so.  It's parody.  The entire style of comedy is all about exploiting the embarrassing qualities of the subject matter.  The point is that, just as Canterbury Tales was made to be an enjoyable, lighthearted read, Freaknik was made to be an enjoyable, lighthearted program.  If you want to look at it on a serious note, yeah it's a shame that we as human beings have done stupid stuff that deserves getting made fun of.  It's all right there in front of our face for us to see and either laugh at it or bury our heads in shame.  Really though, it's just toons man, and I like toons.  I take it that since you are on this forum that you like toons too.  Toons will be toons.  Just let 'em do their thing.

No, this show **BOO**....and I only watched it as I flipped threw tv....It does embrace and enforce the black fad and stereotypes. Honestly black ppl during segregation times were more resoectable then nowadays. Not to be racist but atleast when they said somethign I could understand them.
