I understand why everybody called Edward short when he was 15 years old.

But reading the manga and whatnot, It seems that Edward has been called short for the majority of his life. But why? 

Edward couldn't help being short when he was 5 years old, 6 years old, 4 years old, etc. It seems weird to call a 4 year old a pipsqueek.

And if that was the case, wouldn't they call Alphonse a pipsqueek too? Alphonse was shorter than Edward when they were little until a certain point when Alphonse passed him.

Therefore, there had to be a time when people starting calling Edward a pipsqueek for a legit reason. When do you guys think people starting calling Edward short and for what reason?

I have my theory, but I want to hear your theories first.

Some people can be small in stature and/or appear runtish even at a young age. It doesn't mean they won't reach average height. In Edwards case however I think it is more of a play on the contrast between his inner dynamic persona and his physical smallish appearance. The people around him know he is extremely powerful were it counts, but probably like to bust his chops while they can about his size.

Ok. Since this board is pretty much dead, I am going to give out the correct answer.

People started to make fun of Edward's size the moment Alphonse equaled and surpassed Edward in height.

Think about it. Alphonse and Edward are kids growing and then one day, Alphonse equals Edward in height. Everybody goes, ¨Woah!! Al, you really grew. LOL, Edward, your little brother is the same size as you. LOL, that's funny.¨

Then the big day came. Alphonse is now taller than Edward. Everybody goes, ¨Wow!!! Alphonse, you are bigger than Edward now! You look you are the big brother instead of Edward. LOL, Edward, you are so little! Your little brother is bigger than you. LOL, You are such a pipsqueek, Edward!¨

That is the correct answer. People started making fun of Edward's size when Alphonse passed Edward.
