*mentally replays scenes leading up to it* Rose is talking to Ed while she polishes the altar, then it cuts to Cray reporting to Cornello about a State Alchemist being there, and Cornello is like, you know what needs to be done. Ed and Al are chasing Rose, Cray shows up with a gun, says it's the will of Leto, Rose sees Al headless, freaks out, he makes the speech about how this is their punishment for sinning...yeah, Cray definitely mentions sin in front of Rose first. She trusts these guys, though doubt has been planted, so why not take their words to heart in the heat of the moment?
I don't remember Ed and Al chasing Rose...Oh wait...you mean when she leads them downstairs? I thought Cray showed up with the gun when they were still at the altar.

I'm assuming that this is something she's been taught for most, if not her entire, life, so it would be hard for her to imagine that the loss of Ed's limbs and Al's body were the result of anything but sin.
Same here. Given all the things that accumulated in that episode, it would make sense for her to think of Ed as a "sinner."
...Hee hee.

Don't watch it then.
In tonight's episode Cornello really pulled the wool over Rose's face. Then her testimony to the crowd was pretty empowering.
I never did really understand how Al escaped from being beaten. Or was it just that Ed fixed him afterwards?

I think once they heard the broadcast Al went into hiding because if you'll notice Ed was sitting on the edge of a statue and then when the mob arrives "Al" is right were the statue should be. I think Ed transmuted the statue to look like Al. Also, the Al that got attacked, his eyes were never lit up.
Yep, thats exactly right...this is why Ed grinned later..because he knew all along that Al was out therecoming for him..
Its funny though how Al always manages to hide..because he is huge and like, really really loud when he moves..![]()

There's actually a commentary for a later ep on the DVDs where Vic, Aaron Dismuke, and Mike McFarland are doing the commentary and laughing their heads off about Al in "stealth" mode.
Personally as far as Al, what I like best is how they convey his emotions. Aaron does a magnificent job with his voice, but the animation is also superb, showing the comical facial expressions and that sort of black...wavy line...thing when he's depressed. It's hysterical.
