No surprises here really, but I am glad to see that they've officially picked up the OVAs.

It's very good news.  You think Adult Swim would show them?  They showed the Bleach and InuYasha movies.  FMA:B is perhaps popular enough to show these OVAs and the movie?  It would be great to see what everyone else is raving about!

By the way, that acronym, "OVA" really bugs me.  Original Video Animation is such an unnatural phrase.  I suppose it sounds better than calling something "Direct-to-Video", since that has a connotation for a lesser work (not all the time, though) in the U.S.?  OVA must be a very literal translation of whatever the Japanese call it.

Yes, it is a very literal translation, because the Japanese in fact call it "OVA" or "Originaru Bideo Animeeshon".

I see.  Well, most of those words look English-borrowed anyway.  OVA is still a very awkward term, though.  Without getting into spoilers, what are these things about, anyway?  Also, I take it y'all are finished discussing the show proper?  I'm surprised and saddened at the lack of activity in the finale ep threads...

They're just little side stories. Here's a very basic summary of them.

Blind Alchemist--Ed and Al meet with a blind alchemist and the family that he works for.
Simple People--Why Winry pierced her ears and Riza grew her hair.
Tales of the Master--Izumi's training when she was a young alchemist.
Yet Another Man's Battlefield--Roy's time in military academy.
I don't know what's real from the noise, the noise.
I can't hear a thing for the noise, the noise.
I wouldn't do anything, the thunder that throws me away.
I wouldn't do anything, there's something that keeps me away.
I wouldn't do anything, something that begs me to stay.
I wouldn't do anything, something that throws me away.

Thanks.  Sounds interesting, actually.  I'm debating whether or not I should read the manga.  I don't think they'll ever make OVAs of all the stuff they apparently cut out in Brotherhood...

There is no debate.  Read the manga. :smileyvery-happy:

Yeah, I probably should.  I've still got other stuff to catch up on, though.  I've got a pretty big backlog of games to beat and other things to watch and read, etc... I plan on getting to it eventually, though.  It's officially penciled in on the list in my head, now. :smileyhappy:

Anyway, I didn't realize there was a re-discussion for FMA: B.  Looks like I missed out.  I just assumed the folder went dead because no one was using the old episode threads.  The only problem is, though, is aren't those re-discussion threads typically non-spoiler?  What I'm saying is, we try to be nice and not let any first time viewers see spoilers, if we can help it.  So, I can't talk about things in the context of what we find out later.  Which definitely puts things in perspective, by the way.  I've also missed a few of the re-ran episodes... :smileysad: Hmmm...
