I may be the only who feels this uncomfortable,

but is the end of the original series the actual end to the whole fma universe?

Spoiler
I mean what the hell? I would of felt better if Ed or Al had just died, but now they are both stuck on opposites of the gate, with no way to get to the other but Ed knows Al is alive, and somehow Al knows Ed is out there, but how can Al possibly get to Ed without a philosophers stone? Al has no memory of the four years, there are only two homunculus left, one is brainless and the other is stuck between worlds. Then Dante is presumably dead based on the scene in the elevator shaft with Gluttony. Ed and his dad know about the gate and advanced alchemy but it's useless where they are. Al maybe in time could find out about the gate, but Ed is the one who pushed for bringing their mom back to life, and Ed is the one who was so intent on the stone. Al tends to not have the drive and recklessness that Ed has that led the two of them to uncover so much about the philosophers stone, plus Al does not remember the gate where as Ed did, plus almost no-one knows of the gate or philosophers stone. So is Ed suppose to spend his life trying to find a way out of this hell hole(earth 1921) just to possibly die of old age in vein? What about Al? Does Al really have the drive to search relentlessly on his own to find the answers he needs to be able to bring Ed back, or would he eventually meet a woman and settle down figuring Ed is dead and that is just life. If Al did find a way I would think it would take him years to find what he needs, so what they re-unite when they are in their 40's or 50's? What if Ed meets someone and settles down accepting his fate? What if after Ed is married with kids and then Al brings him back? I guess I am saying that leaving the two brothers pretty much dead to each other to search for each other in vein is just a harsh way to end the story. It has a lot of complications and it's so bleak...

You need to watch the Conquerors of Shambala movie. That's the true ending to the whole first series.

Thank you to everyone I will watch it tomorrow after work, or at latest in about a week if I have to rent it from Netflix. Is it subbed and/or dubbed?

Oh god, that movie.

It is just awful.
I don't know what's real from the noise, the noise.
I can't hear a thing for the noise, the noise.
I wouldn't do anything, the thunder that throws me away.
I wouldn't do anything, there's something that keeps me away.
I wouldn't do anything, something that begs me to stay.
I wouldn't do anything, something that throws me away.

I have to let you know, though- the ending of CoS isn't -that- much better.
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth." -Alphonse Elric, Fullmetal Alchemist (1st series)

I didn't think it was THAT bad. I enjoyed it just because it tied up all the loose ends from the end of the series.

If these kids find out that their hero has had sex, their heads will explode.
