4chan - its an imageboard, where ppl can share thier pics and stuff.. and you dont gotta sign up so ppl dont so its all just annon. in fact belldandyshusband (realaircoolman) once told me its best not to put your name or anything cuz youll just come off as a n00b... also stay outta /b/ its a wierd and evil place.. or so i heard... ive never been there... yeeaaaah.. but thats where a lotta stuff seems to come from.. i dont rly know too much about the place, because im quite happy just staying in /cm/ (cute males) and once in awhile /c/ (cute anime) all i care about is mah hawt menz!
+1 = refers to post count. You don't like the thread topic or poster or whatever, and don't feel like commenting so you just post +1
-1 = has a connotation of scorn or contempt. -1 is also when you know that thread will be deleted, so you can subtract it from your post count
alt = a separate account. Reasons for an alt: the main has been banned, either temporary or permanent. then you have a couple of people, like CAC, who can have more than one account banned at a time. Sometimes it seems to be a person's whim, or then there's things like the danger squad, and the anti-danger squad, which seems to be a whim and a “let's join the gang�Etype of thing. Some people have 20 or more alts
animaynz = anime men. It's a term used to describe a hot anime man. (ex> mugen is an animaynz)
ban = to be suspended from asmb, can be for a set amount of time or permanent. Reasons for being banned: Personal stuff, like age, specific location of where you live, giving your email in a post. Risqu�Epictures showing or suggesting naughty acts. (Sometimes it's hard to know whether if a pic goes over the line, which is what get most on the boards in trouble. It like a Supreme Court ruling in the '70's said about p0rn, I know it when I see it, but even they had a hard time legally defining it. So be careful posting, and when in doubt, don't, because it's going to be the mod who sees it who decides if it is.) Talking about naughty acts. Posting links to risqu�Eor illegal download sites. Talking about illegal stuff and how to do it. Foul language, the filter gets most of that, so, filter dodging like s'ex and p0rn. Spamming a thread with a lot of off-topic stuff. banstick = mythical object used by mods and admins when banning users for a set time. i.e. to be hit by the banstick; can also be used as a verb. Zeni got bansticked for trolling again.

Dai Danger Squad = a large group of crime fighting alts, easily recognized by the collective signature. Anyone is free to join this, just make an alt with Danger in it (usualy people use thier username or a shortended version e.i DangerFool (fool_on_the_hill), DangerCille (cille), etc...) IF you want a little title thingy (which really has no relevenace or anything and is just something silly) feel free to let Cille or any of the DangerSQuad members know and tell them what color and title you would like.

emo = orginally described various styles of independent rock music. it has recently been used to describe a person that is overly emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angsty. sometimes associated with depression, self mutilation or suicide. Emo is also oftenly associated with a certain fashion with tight jeans, long fringe bangs brushed to one side of the face or over the eyes. Shinji Ikari is the char most often called emo in both appearence and outlook on life
facepalm - Smacking the palm and fingers of one's hand on the center of ur faise out of extreme disbelief or frustration that something incredibly stupid just happened or somebody said something incredibly dumb.
* Third Party Facepalm - when something is REALLY OMG I CANT BELIVE THEY JUST SAID THAT ITS SO MADE OF FAIL MY GOOOODDD. Its so bad that you cant even bring yourself to facepalm yourself thus someone else has to do it for you.
facecrimp - That expression a character gets on their faise when something embarassing or mortifying just happened and they're shocked, fearful, embarassed, or paniced. Characterized by contacted eyebrows, eyes bugging out the bottom, and a grimace. Most often shown by female characters when they realize they can be seen naked or in an otherwise compromising position by some male character. Considered cute.
FAIL, "you fail" = along the lines of you s.uck, someone that is lame, like if someone posts something so trollish or spamish someone might say "FAIL!" or "you fail"
fangasm = its like when someone is so excited over something they practically 'gasm.
fanspasm = When a fan experiences something so awesome that they can have convulsions and temporarily lose control of themselves. Not as severe as fancoma or fancombusting.
fancoma = A fan has just experienced something so awesome and fullfilling that you practically go into a coma. Especially when your favorite character that you fangirl/fanboy over does something u loooove.
fancombust = A fan has just experienced something so incredibly awesome and beyond awesomeness that they can spontaneously combust. Higher than fancoma.
filter = the system that’s supposed to censor words that Turner Legal deem ‘bad�Esuch as swear words, naughty words. Also DrewID’s toy, used to torment board members. Admitted word thief he “stole mah werdz�E
* an alternate def of filter = a magical process by which all the "bad" words, or words considered too risque for the kiddies (nevermind that the kiddies use themmore b/c of a smaller vocabulary) are replaced by random phrases.
the current filter substitution is **pickle** past filter substitutions have included **bleep** , **filter dodge** , **moo** , **popscockle** , **that new show on asdotcom that is filtered for some reason** , **? guitar hit ?**, **McRib**, **hahaha**
filter dodging = changing the spelling of a word to keep the filter from blocking a word, manipulating html code to stop the filter from blocking a word.
Fix = also known as [as] video or the Friday Night Fix began as a friday night thing to fill in the one night [as] was taken over completely by Cartoon Network, now it's just a chance to get a jump on the new shows and increase desire to see the show. (premier shows are putting on [as] video/the fix every week after the premier date)
flaming = insulting. Can and will get you banned
floated thread/ to float a thread = means a thread that is on the top of the folder. Some threads are floated by the mods or you can choose to float a thread by going to thread options and selecting ‘float this thread�E(in a show folder, threads are usually floated by the HELPer of said folder)
folder = its a section where there are many threads. (for example action discussion is a folder, .com is a folder, incoherent babbling is a folder.)
GAR - means MANLY!! its teh manilest of all manly men that it maeks normal manly men cower in cowerdness and bow in awe to that which is GAR!!
h4x3d, haxed, hacked = to take control over something. (e.x - ah man ASMB got haxed thier going around changing the layout and adding folders and everything!)
hell week - referes to the week or two, before all the icons from shows AS no longer as the rights too wil be leaving for good and not getting new ones... dont belive me? proof! so a lot of people are wearing a lot of diff. icons from those taht will be missing soon.. also i think this is the latest updated list of shows of the icons that will be taken off..
HELPer = A user that is chosen by the admins to govern or take care of a show folder. 1-2 users are assigned to a show folder and usually given limited powers. (for more info on HELPers please look at the Admins, mods, and HELPers section below)

Hyjacking/Hyjack a thread = means to take over someones thread and completely change it around..

Killfest murderdeath chick = An anime girl who is crazy pwnsome with a sword or other weapon and can go drunk monkey and kill any number of enemies in a pwnsome manner and with great prejudice. Specifically - Saya in Total Bloodlust, or, Diva.

loli/lolita - A girl who acts sexually mature beyond her age in action or clothing *or* acts as if she is a younger girl who is acting sexually mature beyond her age.

MAL - stands for my anime list (myanimelist.net) a site that quite a few ASMBers signed up for. its typically used to catloug your anime and manga that youve read/watched, wanna watch/read, etc...
MANFAYE = Faye is the hottie from cowboy bebop. Manfaye is NOT the hottie from Cowboy Bebop. people who post manfaye pics when they are claiming to post hottie pics are being jerks
member's card = a card that someone makes in the members card thread found in .com folder if you want one feel free to ask.
meh = say-so / sort of / more or less / somewhat agreeing with. Usually used in placement of "Well," in the start of a sentence. (ex. ah, i thought that episode was just meh)
* definition 2: could also mean me (ex. "thats meh favorite show!)
meme = thought virus. So think of something beyond a fad. It's a thought or idea that instigates its own propagation. So when u hear it ur like OMG I've got to tell so and so about this. Then as soon as they hear it they're like OMG I've got to tell so and so about this!! So u see how it spreads. One example: Jingai is a mod

Moe - 1. Moe is a Japanese term used in connection with manga or anime to describe something precious, usually (but not always) the ideal of youthfulness and innocence. To be moe, a character can be eager or perky, not overly independent, and call forth a desire in the viewer to protect them and nurture them.
2. (??, Moe? /mo'e/, pronounced "mo-eh" literally "budding", as with a plant) is a Japanese slang word originally referring to fetish for or love for characters in video games or anime and manga. The term has come to be used as a general term for a hobby, enthusiasm, or fetish (non-sexual). For instance, ????, tetsudou-moe, "train moe", is simply a passionate interest in trains.
3."Moe!" is also used within anime fandom as an interjection referring to a character the speaker considers to be a moekko. It is even used in some anime, such as Ouran High School Host Club, Lucky Star (manga), and Haruhi Suzumiya

OVA - Original Video Animation. An anime that is released direct to video, VHS or DVD, and not broadcast on TV. However OVA's can be broadcast on TV at a later time.
OAV - 1. Original Anime Version. It used to be that animes didn't come to America in their original form. They would be "adapted" or "reversioned". Things like Star Blazers, Tranzor Z, Voltron, Robotech, and Sailor Moon. To see these kinds of series in their original forms u have to locate the Japanese OAV edition. 2. Original Animation Video. The same thing as OVA. However OVA is the preferred term now for direct to video releases.

picwhoring = someone who posts up a lot of pictures.
ranking/rankage = it the color of your username (also the name underneath it, for instance when you first sign up you are called a "swim newbie" and your color is grey) (for rank requirements please refer to the links section)
sauce = source. (ex person 1: oh man were loosing the rights to this show! person 2: sauce? person 1: *links to thread saying were loosing rights*)
screencap/screenshot = an image taken directly from a video.

Ship/Shipped - it means to pair up two people (usually characters). showing that you like them as a couple (ex. I ship/shipped kagome and koga!)
shippo doomsday/ shippo maddness/march of the shippos = it refers to one day when A LOT of users in the AD decided to wear a happy shippo icon and have "HEARTSCAR" in thier siggys. (it was part of icon theme day.)
siggy = signature, it appears at the bottom of your message. go to "My Profile" to change it.
___ Slayer = one who casts the eliminating vote for many characters in the various eliminations. e.g. - Bewb Slayer, Dad Slayer, etc.
spam = anything, such as side conversations, that are not on topic for the thread. Spam can and does get a thread locked, can also get a thread deleted.
spoilers = something that would ruin a story for someone who hasn’t seen it yet. (deaths are ALWAYS a spoiler regardless of how many times its been shown) (luckilly there is a spoiler button so please use that when marking spoilers)
thread = its a topic in a certain folder (this Action Discussion 101 is a thread) You must wait 2 days after registering to make a thread.
troll = someone who posts or makes remarks in order to start a fight. Can and will get you banned
wax Nazi = used in the phrase "melt like wax Nazis" meaning the person(s) so described will melt and be destroyed by virtue of whatever coming into contact with them because they are evil and whatever is good. Just go watch Raiders of the Last Ark. Usage example: Dude if man-Faye came into contact with Orihime he would totally melt like a wax Nazi.
Wh0re = Suffix used for a board member who is overly obsessed with something. Ex. include spamwh0re, which is someone who spams a lot and, as you had said, picwh0re, spastic pic-poster.
General Anime terms and definitions
9000 = that number cannot be beat, not now not ever.. never! it pwns all other numbers to the max! (actually it is known now that youcan go over 9000 in which you must declare it as: OVER 9000!!!!!!! usually used when a users post count reaches over 9k) (DBZ refrence)
Animu - weebo way of saying anime
Mangu - weebo way of saying manga
Dramu - weebo way of saying drama
Desu - i think it means is. usually said at the end of a sentence. im not 100% on this definition. (ex. these cookies are yummy desu~)
Doujin - fanmade manga. its kind of like fanart and fanfic but its like an actual comic/manga. its usually hentai.
facepalm - when something stupid is said (or something stupid happens) a facepalm is required
* Third-party facepalm - when something REALLY OMG REALLY stupid happens/is said you need someone else to facepalm you.
fanart = its a picture drawn of a certain anime character and/or show not done by the original studio
fanfic = a story written about a certain character and/or show, usually of the author's favorite.
fanboy/fangirl = usually someone that obsesses over a certain character, show, usually anything and will like sigh and stuff, sometimes even talking in "ZOMG!!!!!! TEH karaktr es lyk sew hawt lawl lky totateleh!!!!" manner of speach
Fanservice = this is a term used to describe anime or things which include sexual induendo, panty shots, cleavage shots, the main character guy ending up in a sexual pose after accidently falling on a girl, big boobs, etc... not hentai! nothing actual sexual happens, its more or less sexual induendo.
Ecchi = a higher degree of fanservice this usually will include more intense sexual induendo. It could also include bare boobs (including nipples), butts, and even full frontal nudity. In some extreme cases it can be concidered borderline hentai (ex. Queen's Blade)
ecchicon - Somebody with an ecchi complex.
Hentai = this is full on sexual intercorse action. And usually very sexually explicit. There is a wide variety of Hentai include cute normal boy on girl hentai to LOLI ON TENTETCLE ON DONKEY ON 2GIRLS1CUP ON BOY ON DISH DETERGENT ACTION OH YEAAAAH!!
Gao = a phrase said by the main heroine of the anime series Air, Misuzu Kamio, who makes the sound to imitate what she believes dinosaurs sound like.
Giga Epic Win - Win that is so epic and so awesome that it's like Simon or Kittan using their Giga Drill to pierce something that otherwise cannot be pierced. (gurren lagaan refrence)
Tengen Toppa Epic Win - Win that is so unbelievably amazingly awesomesauce that it surpasses the heavens!!! The highest possible superlative of winness (gurren lagaan refrence)
Nice Boat = its a meme steming from the series School Days. the Ending was too violent for tv, and thus when it was aired in japan they replaced it with pictures of boats with peaceful music. *if you want to know the ending to school days read below however warning: contains spoilers, I'm not joking at all and am quite serious it will contain details about the ending to the anime of school days, so please read with caution* [spoiler]towards the end of school days the Sekai after finding out that Makoto cheated on her stabbed and killed him with a butcher knife in the kitchen. Afterwards Kotonoha found out and invited her to the school rooftop, eventually kotonoha killed Sekai and sliced her stomach open to see if she was indeed pregnant, which she wasnt. In the end Kotonoha is found lying on the board cudding with Makotos decapitated head and talking to it (which she decapitated herself)[/spoiler]
Seinen = An anime that is geared towards older men (usually ranging in the later teens to adult) it contains more serious of a story, can contain more violence, more character development, etc... (ex: cowboy bebop, mushishi)
shounen = anime that is typically geared towards younger audience (like 12 and 13 etc..) shows like bleach and naruto... it can also sometimes mean anime based off manga, or anime that is like a fighting type anime like inuyasha, bleach, naruto, etc..
Josei = Anime geared towards older women (such as late teens to adults) contains more drama, more well developed story, usually touches upon more mature things such as sex, relationships, etc... (ex: NANA)
Shoujo = anime is one geared toward girls in some way. The best example of a shoujo series is Sailor Moon. A show can have both shounen and shoujo appeal and elements. And example of that would be Inuyasha.
subbed/sub = the anime is in japanese (or other language) but has subtitles at the bottom.
dub/dubbed = means the voicing is in english, or another language other then the original.
subbie = either someone who preferes subs to dubs, or has seen a show subbed before dubbed
dubbie = someone who either prefers to watched dubbed anime then subbed or someone who is watching anime the first time dubbed.
Stabbing with a stick - stickz are deadly yo! this originates from roses of versallie when Oscar gets stabbed with a stick (not even hard) and practically dies from it at least thats how they make it seem. so therefore its sort of a running joke (usually between mewnz and cidz and anyone thats watched roses of versallie) that sticks are WAY deadly. (this also applies to chandeliers and horse carriages with the same meaning and origin behind it)
Trap = you think its one gender but turns out to be another (usually its a girl that is actually a boy)
* reverse trap = girl that looks like a boy.
TV Tropes - the most addictive site evar! or so i hear. ok well bascially its a site that has all of these terms for common things you see in anime, manga, comics, movies, music, etc... just go look it up but uh warning, dont look unless you got ALOT of time to spare, its kind of rather hard to pull yourself away once you start lol.
Wasian - white asian. A white person who tries to act like they're asian.
Weeaboo = A person, mainly an otaku who takes his fandom so far that he'd want to live in japan and learn japanese just so he could feel japanese for no good reason. Most likely influenced by anime. Weeaboos love Japan more than the US and in some cases, forget they're even Americans. Weeaboos will annoy the hell out of you. (aka wasian)

yuri = girl on girl action. Usually sexually explicit.
* Shoujo-ai = a lesser degree of yuri, usually contains no sex. at the most there will usually be sexual induendo or implied sex. This usually contains more of a story, usually of the drama nature.
yaoi = boy on boy action. Usually sexually explicit.
* Shounen-ai = a lesser degree of yaoi. Not usually sexually explicit, at the most will contain induendo or implied sex. Usually has more of a story then Yaoi.
