Big O, all Anime to soon lose their place on AS?

Ok, I am a Big O fan. I wanted a season 3, even if some didn't or some hated. The news has come to some of us who directly asked, and those in charge of Adult Swim say there will be no more Big O episodes. They also called the shot "sh*t".

Along with this, it seems as though the senior vice president of Adult Swim, Mike Lazzo (aka Alex Rosewater), plans to possibly get rid of all anime.

"We knew adults really didn't care about the quality of animation. With children, if you had something brightly colored and moving, you could make it go. But with adults, they become bored pretty quickly with the dancing brooms unless it's exceedingly well done. From the start, words were more important thatn pictures." - Mike Lazzo

This means, Adult Swim doesn't care if it's a great looking Japanese Anime or not, as long as they talk enough to capture something in the viewer.

"No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." - H.R. Mencken (Usually attributed to P.T. Barnum)

You can get more on this story at the new site to fight this horribility, Save Big-O.

Quoting the site, "The man in charge of Adult Swim, Mike Lazzo, envisions the future of Adult Swim to be inexpensively produced "funny cartoons," not anime. This "mindset" was further reinforced at the web cam party where certain Adult Swim staff members mocked Big-O, and referred to it as "**bleep**" before shutting it off."

Do you people really want all of your anime to over time be removed, and to have yourself assimilitated into a pure 'Comedy' programming schedule for Adult Swim?

Not to be mean.. but Big O is a pretty old show.. they show it late how it is.. and I really don't know alot of people who enjoy the show... I used to but because I've seen most of the shows.. it's become really boring to see it.. :smileyindifferent:
So if they do take it off.. I really don't care..

I like Big O too but if it isn't making Adult Swim any $ then there's really nothing anyone can do.  The Anime Network is negotiating with various Satillites and cable companies so maybe it has a chance there.

Also, whoever runs the Save Big O site should ditch the worthless flash intro.  It only makes getting into the site (which looks nice) longer and it's not all that impressive anyway.

Keep in mind that Mr lazzo makes more money the more comedy his department produces.

This would certainly explain the lack of advertisement that Case Closed, and Action Saturday got.

Why Lazzo would flush something down the toilet that his department spent money on is indead beyond me.

If Mr. lazzo clearly wants to dump his own creation down the drain, then clearly he should be fired.

Although I support comedy a little more then I support anime, Mr. Lazzo's actions can not be tolerated if this is the case. by ruining AS anime, he is costing the network money that could be used for other ventures. meaning AS will suffer regardles in the near future.

If what you say is true, then we should not just save Big O, but AS in general from the tyranny of Mike Lazzo. I need more proof before I consider starting a coup movment.

BIG-O is very very displeased.

I can't believe this. There were AS bumpers talking about Season 3 early in Season 2's run, there was a news release that an option had been made for 26 more, and now it's been canned. I'm appalled and offended, truly.

WHY WERE 26 MORE OPTIONED IF THERE WAS NO INTEREST BY SUNRISE or AS??? Doesn't add up. Especially since ratings reports reported showed that the re-runs of BIG-O were beating out newer stuff like Wolf's Rain. Interest is the new season remains HIGH.

I realize AS has made alot of aquisitions this year with Wich Hunter Robin, Wolf's Rain, Full Metal Alchemist, and Ghoist in the Shell TV, I didn't expect BIG O the extra 26 to come up this year . . . but what about a year or two from now? BIG-O's creators evidently have more in mind. They've come so far only to be shut down? I, the public, requests whole-heartedly these almost promised 26 episodes.

PS(BIG-O is not that old of a show, especially if you talk about Season 2...and its one of the most intellegent, interesting anime to come out in Japan or America in many YEARS)

Cartoon Network,  I implore you to reconsider and please complete BIG-O. I'm from the Toonami days and I believe you care what your viewers think. I'm not saying right away, but will you fund these 26 final episodes?

Thanks in advance.

Think about it, they are a company, they are out there to make money and if a show isn't getting many viewers and people don't like it (like me) they should take it off to try something new. They won't take Inuyasha off because lots of people watch it. No offense but Adult Swim is there to make money, and to do that they have to do what the majority wants.

Nah they aren't going to get rid of anime......it had too many fans. They would make very little money and die out in less than 6 months likely.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that most people who watch [as] would STOP watching if they took anime off. I wouldn't.....as long as they kept ATHF on I would watch forever....but I would be depressed, lest they leave anime on.
Moooooose.

I don't buy that all anime is going away anytime soon, but I wouldn't be surprised that if adult swim/cartoon channel can make more advertising $ with their home produced series, they will increase the amount which will squeeze out the other series.  They just anounced a couple of months ago aquiring Full Metal Alchemist, airing the InuYasha movie in 2005, and Read or Die movie/OVA in 2004.

Anime is not being taken off of Adult Swim.  Have you been to Williams Street?  No.  I have, and I know that they have a passion for anime.  Please cease and desist in creating harmful rumors.
