Ok for anyone who is STILL confused about what Anemone is and what those girls were in tonight's episode, here is an explanation:

I keep seeing people saying repeatedly that Anemone and those girls are clones of Eureka or artificially created coralians... that theory is WRONG


Anemone, like the girls from tonight's episode, are genetically nothing more than mere humans.  All of them are war orphans who suffer from desperation disease and for some reason because of that they also have a stong connection to the Zone.  The doctor's (if you want to call them that) at the novac foundation have taken these children and given them powerful drugs to try to pull them out of their desperation disease so that they might be used to try and enter the Zone much like the way that Eureka can and make contact with whatever or whoever is on the other side.  Also they have physically been altered through plastic surgery to look like more like Eureka and while their reasoning behind this has not been explained, one can only guess that it is because they imagine that on the other side of the zone may be someone or something that will visually recognize and respond only to Eureka.

But again, my key points here, THEY ARE NOT CLONES.  Clones are genetically identical copies of the original organism.  Anemone is literally nothing more than a genetically normal human girls.  They are not artifically created, they are flesh and blood natural born humans.  Thank You and have a good night.

Well, that was somewhat less heavy than last time...

So wahoo, Anemone was a test subject created to replace Eureka. *wins five bucks* I guess she was actually a regular girl first, presumably one with desperation disease like the girls Dominic saw in this facility. Of which there have no doubt been no shortage since the war destroyed these cities and the lives of their inhabitants. So these girls get delivered to this "Novac Foundation," which seems like it's been around for quite a while despite remaining shadily unknown, and they get tested on to find suitable pilots for theEND. Probably having desperation disease means their minds are nice and blank and malleable for the experiments, and they don't have any family to care about them being taken away. And the "first" Anemone passed muster by virtue of having a high tolerance for this medication they have to give her, even though it's gradually eating away at her and making her more unstable. It looks like she's still out there fighting the Antibodies, but completely detached and with none of the ferocity or bloodlusty joy we've seen from her. Maybe she knows she's just going through the motions until she's tossed aside. She must know that she's not "real," and I wonder if she remembers everything she went through at the test facility and before that during and after the war. What they did to those girls was horrific. Rounding them up from the slums and battlefields to do who knows what to them. Including apparently plastic surgery for the finalists, to make them look more like Eureka - the original they were trying to replicate. And of course the administration of the medication to try to turn the girls into something resembling Coralians (as represented by the lines in their eyes turning into circles) totally overwhelmed and killed them. And our pal Deckard acted as if it was only the loss of a rather expensive product. He was quite the sniveling little bugger, wasn't he. And Dominic is supposed to be the purchasing agent coming to select the choicest specimen. It hit him awfully hard, that even though finding a replacement for Anemone would save her from having to fight and take that medicine, he would just be forcing another girl into the same position. In a way the deaths of those three girls might have saved them all from even more difficulty and suffering... but I'm sure those experiments will continue on those other girls until the venture is shut down.

And so it turns out that Captain Jurgens was from Warsaw, and lost his family there in the civil war 10 years ago. And once the tower was destroyed, the place was largely abandoned and its people became refugees. This has apparently happened all over. Those towers must not be very easy to rebuild. And Dominic also lost his family in the war, and presumably that's how Stoner became a war orphan. We haven't heard too much about what actually went down in this civil war, which must have happened after the Summer of Love (if Adrock died just after Renton was born, and this civil war was ten years ago). Hopefully we'll get more of the skinny on that, other than seeing how it changed people's lives so drastically. It puts the "Canvas" ending a bit more into perspective, too. And this Warsaw place is also known as "Joy Division," which I understand is a reference to Nazi sex slaves during World War II (along with the band that later took the name). I don't know if pre-war Warsaw had a reputation for victimizing girls, but it seems to fit the bill now. I think Dominic and Jurgens and company need to lay some smack down around there.

Um... after they like totally go bail out the crew at Tressoir, 'cause they have seen the light courtesy of Stoner's big truthy issue of ray=out. They must have noticed the similarity between the girls at Warsaw and Eureka on the cover of the magazine, and if they're smart they'll realize what Dewey and the military are perpetuating and refuse to keep going along with the corruption. We had figured that Dominic was a likely target for Stoner's desire to reach just one person, but it's interesting that it got to Jurgens first. Hopefully the ol' salt has some trickery up his sleeve on the way to Tressoir, perhaps involving that layover to pick up some supplies and weaponry.

And meanwhile, back at Tressoir, Holland is literally killing himself to stop the Orange attacks to give Eureka and Renton more time. I guess this LFO they've got him hooked up to is some kind of old-school thing where the pilot has to take medicine (one kind to stimulate the nervous system during flight, and one to make him sleep afterward, if I remember right). They said something about having "limiters" installed in newer LFOs, which I guess made the medicating unnecessary. But for some reason Holland is all plugged into the LFO he's using, and he seems to be needing those meds, which are giving him bizarro purple lesions and slowly killing him. I reeeaaally hope that the kids get their act together and get to this saving the world thing before it's too late for Holland.

So I guess Nirvash and company finally made it up that little cliff that had them stuck last time. Not that it did them much good. Tromping through jungle, only to get to another beach. Sucks for them to have landed on a bitty island. I'm guessing they haven't actually made it to west Africa yet. It does make me wonder when or if they might run into other people. Unless they landed on one of the random small islands of Japan (or the south Pacific), it seems like there would be civilization around. If, of course, there even are any people on this version of Earth. Which I guess we'll find out. It does seem like it would make the world-saving mission a little more straightforward if there was somebody in this place for Eureka and Renton to talk to and negotiate with. But it could be something less diplomatic and more, like, survival-y. Maybe if they make it for a month without dying or going crazy they win a prize and the world doesn't blow up. Not that that seems very likely after the first day or so. At least they found something to eat, but they still can't get along and Eureka is turning into a glowworm. For a moment I thought of how Norbu said that trapars were poison to Sakuya in the form she was in, and wondering if something like that might be making Eureka break out in her glowy green hives. But there doesn't seem to be much by way of trapar where they are, so that's probably not it. Unless it's like reverse trapar poisoning. But at any rate she doesn't seem to be doing so well. And the team doesn't seem to be any closer to fulfilling their mission, or even figuring out what their mission is. I'm hoping they make some headway pretty soon. Oh, and turns out that Holland left them Charles' rifle, I guess in case they meet any scary monsters or have to go hunting for food. Or whatever. Hopefully at least one of them knows how to use it. Eureka probably does, but she may not be in much of a mood to shoot things. I was trying to decide if the glowy had eaten through her outfit, since it looked a little ragged at the shoulder. That could make things... interesting if it spreads to more of her body.

Speaking of moody, Maurice seems to have had about as much as he can take of all of this. He knows how crappy the situation is, and he doesn't much care to be talked down to. It's good that he sees things for what they are and can call Renton on what he says, but I hope that his pessimism doesn't become problematic.

Gulliver is one heavy-ass... whatever he is. And yet oddly squishy and pliable. Poor Dominic.

Nice Birth of Venus there in the vestibule of the Novac Foundation. I wonder if that was a chunk of the original pillaged from Earth, or just a nice print.

I feel like the last couple of episodes have been a little... bogged down somehow. There's not much going on on Renton and Eureka's end, and back home we're getting a whole lot of revelationy stuff thrown at us. It's still involving, of course, but I feel like I could use a pick-up. Or something. We'll see how things go.

Ok here's a question, its been bugging me it the medication that Holland takes anything at all like Anemones? If it was mentioned I dont remember it

Well yeah they're bogged down, Eureka and Renton don't know what to do and what's more, they haven't been getting a lot of camera time. I think they're trying to advance the plot of Anemone, Dominic, and Dewey while slowly edging our star couple towards something. I mean, 42 was kinda the culmination of a lot of work, and now we're slowly building up towards something else, I'd wager. I feel every episode of Eureka seveN is enjoyable myself, and this one was interesting for a rather large number of reasons.

My thoughts:

- Our first MA rated E7 episode. Course, I knew that when I watched it on the fix. ***** "How long are you gonna make me wait?" "Well, if you couldn't get that animal off your bed, what makes you think I could?" ***** No!! Holland can not be teh dead. He must survive. Speaking of surviving, Nirvash does a nice gorilla impression. ***** Now now. Let's not get emo, Dominik. You can share the bed with that pet. ***** Renton: "Dang, Mourice. Did I really sound like that when I first came onboard the Gekko?"

- Delivered It? I thought it was Steven King who delivered It. ***** And all this time I thought Eureka and Anemone were the same. As it is, Anemone is losing her battle with her addiction and Eureka is turning into a glow stick. A pickem as to what is worse. And hey, who wouldn't blow chunks are witnessing that? ***** I am anxious to see how the confrontation between Gekko and this sect of the military will go down. I sense a bit of a union here. Real good episode.

I'm embarassed to admit, but I ran out of the room to throw up when I watched that scene.  I think this is the second most gut-wrenching episode in the series next to Renton's berserker fit when he tore through those LFOs.

Dewey is a mad sociopath, but Aion from Chrno Crusade has the title of King of all Bastards on lock and I hated him with a fiery passion (but that's the mark of a good villian though, for Dewey and Aion).

Anyways, do keep in mind that the doc doesn't actually come out and say Anemone was simply one of the girls that the expirament just happened to work on.  There's a number of clues about her past that are actually all on the table right now I think.  I think the translation actually helps with the issue, as you get the doctor referring to the Original, Anemone, and how they haven't had a success of this trial yet.  I could rattle it out, but that's boring.

And just in case you need some motivation.

I just now able to watch tonight's ep, and it was awesome.  Here are my thoughts on tonight's ep.  Sorry but this is going to be a little outta order.

ssage.id=3754929#M3754929.  I felt so sorry for the Captain Jurgens losing his family their in Warsaw.  It was nice to hear a little back story on him.  Then we find out Dominic lost his family too.  I hate Dewey for making Dominic go their and find the new replacement. That guy is a monster for what he is doing to those poor little girls.  An absolute monster.  Then to have those three girls die in front of Dominic, the Jurgens, and Maria was just sad.  Those poor girls.  

Then we see Animone fighting with that spaced out look on her face for the whole time.  It makes me wonder if she has finally went off the deep end, or maybe she is coming to the realization that Dominic truly cares and wants to love and help her.

Dominic is in a tough spot.  I am glad to hear his conviction to want to save Animone.  Then to have Jurgens give Dominic that RayOut issue. And ask him if it was all true was cool.  See Stoner people are reading your article and asking questions.  I have funny Feeling Jurgens won't be following Dewey's orders for much longer.  Then to hear their new orders are to attack Tresor has me worried to.  Holland and everybody better bug outta the place before the military shows up and crashes the party.

That was perfect what Renton said to Eureka when she was trying to walk away from him and the kids.  He just wanted to help but Eureka just wanted to be alone.  Then at the end we see her arm has gotten worse.  I am really worried now about her. I hope Renton and the kids can help her.

Then we have Maurice.  I feel sorry for the kid.  He has lost all hope.  Eureka is in trouble and no one from Gekkostate is there and he feels all alone and helpless.  Poor kid. 

The we have Holland who is in a world of hurt.  That was scary for Morita said about how Holland would die if he keeps this up.  And then Talho said she wouldn't stop him  just hit home.  I am so worried about the guy.  I know he and the others want to do all they can to buy time for Renton and Eureka, but......

There are just a lot of bad things going on in this ep and I am worrying about everyone and everything that's going on.  A good ep I must say.

Huh? This is the only episode where the scene I'm talking about is shown. I know that some of the scenes of Anemone fighting the antibodies are recycled, but not that one. Hell, the "second OP" doesn't show any Anemone/TheEND except for a brief scene in the hanger.

For the record, this scene is the one I'm referring to. (Warning: It's pretty graphic.)

Wow.... That's all that one could really say to sum all that up....

So, I guess those of us thinking that Anemone was "fake" corallian were right...and unfortunately so. I'm glad everyone managed to mull out the truth behind the experiments. For awhile I was kind of confused as to what they were actually trying to accomplish (beyond the final goal of creating another Anenome/Eureka). So...they take orphaned girls from the war, with desperation disease no less, and bring them to the Novak Foundation. Somehow, the desperation disease makes them more attuned to the compaqs...and most likely to other natural components of the planet (i.e. the trapars and LFOs). In order to wake them up from the desperation disease, and put them into a "usuable" form (Ugh....), they give them a mind-altering drug that, if it doesn't work, will fry their brains and, even if it does work, you need constant treatments in order to pilot theEND...and those rot away your brain anyway. On top of this, the girls must also recieve plastic surgery and gene resequencing in order to become a more perfect mockery of a human coralian. So, yeah, physical and mental torture...on girls, who have already lost everything (including their minds), and all for the sake of Dewey's war machine. That's **bleep**ed up. The worst part of it for me, wasn't just the scene with the failed experiment on the three girls (but that was really disturbing ) but the comment about the "Joy Division". Until I read Cille's post, I didn't understand the historical/band reference, but I already kind of guessed at the meaning. With the desperation disease...and unable to defend themselves....

So now Dominc has a really hard choice. If he chooses a new pilot, they will go through the hell that Anemone had to. But if he doesn't, Anemone's mind and sanity will continue to be eaten away. One thing, however, that he hasn't considered yet: Both he and Anemone are despensible, as far as Dewey is concerned. If he DOES choose a new pilot, what does he think will happen to Anemone? Dewey will just let her go? A former military weapon? He may consider herself useless, but I doubt he would simply toss her aside...especially when killing her would be just as easy.... Also...what makes Dominic think that Anemone would WANT to stop piloting theEND? theEND has been her entire life...she has never know anything but killing as Dewey commands. It would be very hard for her to turn away from all of that. Finally, even if Dominic refuses to choose a new pilot...the Novak Foundation will still continue! Obviously, it was running well before he found out about it. Dewey will simply find someone else to select the next candidate for him, and toss Dominic aside.... In a way, I am betting that, in Dewey's sick mind, the whole trip to Warsaw was partially meant to test Dominic's loyalty....

And then there was Jergens...ah, good ol' Jergens. He may be extremely loyal, but he's no fool. Remember when Stoner mentioned ray=out reaching "just one person"? Well, I think he's found that person. But, it's not like he can do anything about his suspicious. He is just one military commander, out of the whole fleet of people that do not know the truth. So, I think his mindset is that of an old soldier who's spent his entire life serving his military proudly and loyally...and he's not about to let that go to waste, even if means serving a little less proudly now. And, despite Dominic's harsh comments earlier in the episode, the two of them even seemed to have found common ground...they are both war orphans. It is my hope that something in Dominic will finally snap when they get to Tresor, and that he'll convinced Jergens (it won't be too hard I'm guessing) to help out Gekkostate, instead. They could certainly use it. Poor Holland is running himself into the grave.... 

Meanwhile, as all this is going down, Eureka and Renton still haven't made any headway on Earth. It doesn't make much sense that the scub coral would send them to Earth...only to have them just sit around. Maybe they should have handed Renton and Eureka some intructions when they went through the Zone...perferably a little book with the words: "Don't Panic!" on the cover....

Tensions are running high as it is, but to make it worse, Eureka seems to be changing for some reason. I'm going to go with Cille's "reverse trapar poisoning" theory. But that sounds kind of ominious. Does Eureka need trappars to survive? Again, it doesn't make much sense to send them all the way there just for Eureka to die...so hopefully this is supposed to be happening...maybe even help them in their current situation.

Initially, it kind of bugged me that Eureka was being so standoffish about the whole metamorphasis thing, but, thinking about it, I realized that I probably wouldn't want to be around loved ones if I started to grow green nodules all over my body...especially since changes in my body tend to mean some pretty drastic things for everyone around....

Woo...I managed to make a Cillenourmous post this week! Lord knows this episode needed it...and makes up for my phailings last week....

Looking foreward, as usual, to the continuing episodes. Here's hoping the next episode, strange title notwithstanding, brings a little bit more hope than this one.

I felt sorry for Capt. Jurgens and Dominic, seeing as they both lost loved ones in battle, yet war cannot have no casualties, its very sad. I also hate Dewey with a passion, but he is doing what HE thinks is right, but its not. He wants to destroy the planet. That bástard is just like Adolf, experimenting, exterminating, and terrible things have occured in his wake. Dámn the *is so angry has no words to describe the anger*.
