What is a spoiler?
A spoiler is a post or thread that gives out information that might spoil it for someone who hasn't yet seen that show. Examples of common spoilers are a major plot point or a character's death. If you simply must talk about spoilers, we ask that you mark them as such. If you are not sure if it is a spoiler or not, mark it anyway for the benefit of all the users who may read that post. Failure to do so may end up in the thread being locked, edited or deleted. If you post a spoiler with malicious intent, you may get banned. If you see someone posting spoilers, maliciously or not, please feel free to use the Report Abuse feature and a moderator will deal with it.
How do you mark your spoilers you ask?
When making a thread specificially about a spoiler, mark it in the title with *spoiler*
You can type in huge caps
SPOILERS START HERE, or some indication that the spoiler info starts, then mark where the spoiler ends, like ***SPOILER ENDS HERE***.
Another way to mark you spoilers is to make the text so you must hi-light it to read it.
You can use this html:
<strong style="font-weight:normal ; color : #232323 ; background : #232323> Spoilers go here </strong>
And it will look like this: Ta daaaaaaaaa!
Also, if a thread specifically states NO SPOILERS, then please respect the people participating in that thread and do not go in there posting spoilers, marked or unmarked.
How do I post a thread?
Please note that no one of the board rank of "SwimNewbie" may post a new thread. They can post within already existing threads that are open to posting, but not post their own new threads. SwimNewbies should take this time to acquaint themselves with the Message Board Guidelines and Official FAQ.
Before posting your thread, know that we often delete duplicate threads, so be sure to look around or search for an already existing thread with the same topic. You can most easily do this by using the "Advanced Search" function which is loaced at the bottom of your page. Once you're sure there isn't an already existing topic:
1. Toward the top left hand corner of the page click the "New Message" button with the page icon next to it.
2. Type the name of your thread into the white "Message Subject" line. Be sure to search for already existing similar topics before making a new one, and be sure the title of your thread is relevent to the folder you are posting it in, as well as to the topic you are posting about.
3. Type your message in big black text box. You may use board features to alter the font, the type size, color of the text, hyperlink, insert smileys, use bold face, italics, underline or scratch features to enhance your message.
4. Once your post is complete, hit the "Submit Post" button in the lower lefthand corner of the screen. Within seconds, your thread should appear on the message board in the folder in which you posted it.
5. Once your thread is posted, try to keep it on topic. Off topicness can lead to a thread getting locked or deleted by a moderator.
Why was my thread deleted?
According to the Official FAQ for the Adult Swim Message Board:
Answer: Boring threads/messages are often deleted in order to protect our desire to provide this forum. "Boring" is defined as anything that hurts our heads. This includes malicious flaming and references to illicit acts (We enjoy most illicit acts, but we don't feel a need to discuss them here - You shouldn't either.), Repetitive threads, chatting, shout-outs, trolling and flaming.
Other quick guidelines:
1. Search for an already existing topic before making a new one, duplicate topics are often locked or deleted.
2. Posting a spoiler as your thread topic, or posting spoilers in your thread without marking them, will get your thread deleted. If somebody else posts a spoiler in your thread, send in an Abuse Report, and be sure to note that you would like the spoiler post removed from your thread. Odds are, the rest of the thread will not be deleted in that case unless it contains multiple unmarked spoilers. However, if you reply to the spoiler thread, any and all of the resulting posts may be deleted along with that post. If you don't want your post possibly deleted, don't reply directly to the spoiler post.
3. Since this is the "Adult Swim Action" folder, threads about shows not currently airing on Adult Swim or under contract to be aired on Adult Swim may be deleted or moved to the appropriate folder.
4. Suggestions about the Adult Swim programming schedule belong in the "Action Show Suggestions" folder, and may be deleted or moved if posted in the Action folder.
5. Any post containing illicit links, including those involving piracy, will be deleted on sight, and the person who posts it runs the risk of being banned from the forum.
6. Don't exchange personal or contact information on the board. That will likely get your thread deleted and the users banned. The only exception to this is IM screen names, which you may exchange. If you wish to exchange any other contact or personal information, please do it in IM or elsewhere.
7. Once your thread is posted, try to keep it on topic. If your thread becomes flamey or chatty, one option is to send in an abuse report on your own thread, requesting that the mod not delete the thread, but maybe warn the flamers or chatters, and perhaps delete just the offending posts. Note that this might not be possible if there are too many such flame/chat posts in the thread, but if there is only a few, it might be salvagable.
8. Do not discuss where to illegally view/download/torrent fansubs/manga scanlations. That is the quickest way to get your thread deleted/locked and possibly banned. That media is not licensed for distribution by their owners and are illegal.
Episode Discussion threads
Episode discussion threads for premiers are usually floated so that people coming to the site to discuss the episodes can find them easily. Threads cannot be made before midnight (Eastern time) the day before the show's premiere and in the event that more than one thread is posted, the earliest thread made within that 24 hour period will be selected and the rest locked, however, it is not guaranteed. Please look to the individual show forums for these threads.
Episode discussion threads can be made for Fix premiers as well, but will not necessarilty floated. Please do not make Fix premier discussions before the day of the premier and please include the fact that it is a Fix discussion in the title so that people are not confused about the purpose of your thread.
