The series I think gives you a deeper understanding of each character. So I would say watch the series first. As well there are going to be 4 rebuild films. The 2nd one is only comming out in a few months. So it will just be a long wait if you want to get to the end of this.

I think you can find it cheaper. I got mine for half that. If you have netflix you can get them off of that. I will also suggest that you get End of Evangelion. Getting a netflix membership may be the best for this since EOE is out of print and has jacked up in price.

No it's not streaming sorry. But if your broke I think it may cost more money to get the box set and movie than the netflix fee just saying. Still keep your priority's straight it's just a show and it's not going anywhere.
