Sunday Reviews

Cowboy Bebop: episode 17

Great throwbacks to classic jazz and funk in this episode. Coffy/Jackie Brown and Shaft showing up and Django sounds really familiar as well.

Overall Rating: 88/100

episode 18

Another really good Faye episode. Seeing Jet and Spike mess around with all the old technology was hilarious, but the end of the episode was really classic.

Overall Rating: 84/100

Monday's Reviews

Death Note: episode 13

I love me some Misa Misa. Anywho, not too surprised that she ignored their threat or their coax to lessen the punishment on her if she revealed information about the first Kira. Light handled the situation like the **noel** genius that he is, so Misa shouldn't be making too many mistakes...for now anyway. And I noticed that in my episode 12 review, roadblock gets filtered. Wonder what's up with that.

Overall Rating: 83/100

Samurai Champloo: episode 13

I figured Mugen's past would come back to bite him in the ass. All the guns and bombs, you'd think the pirates were superior in technology lol.

The SC recap had its moments. I especially liked the twist at the end with the "gotcha, jerkfaces" reveal. Also, it's says something about society now that it needed to be specifically mentioned that Mugen was illiterate. It makes sense when we consider his background, but it's one of those, "oh. Yeah," things.

Speaking of Mugen's background, it's amazing how much he's changed since then. Even at the start of the show, he thought nothing of maiming a guy for a meal. Now, he does something he doesn't want to do because he gave his word, and he honors that.

Yes, it was gratifying to see Chagum shut up that bully.

Yes, since Lulu is carrying out a war among people he knows, it would be a foreseeable consequence that someone he knows would be caught up in one of his battles. I feel sorry for Mrs. Fenette.

I think we still have a public icon of girl!Ichigo.

I may disagree with the approach they take at this point, but Petro and Paula are a bit of badass.

I think Casca's view of Griffith may be that senpai thing which doesn't really have a direct parallel in American culture.

Yes, Misa is easy on the eyes. Also, roadblock was filtered because it contains adblock, and since the Boards earn revenue from ads loading, something which prevents that from happening is not to be discussed.

That's very true. He has made a big turnaround without losing any badassery. Yeah...that's a word.

You might have to explain senpai to me. I'm not sure I understand it completely.

Tuesday's Reviews

Big O: episode 13

Holy crap, this episode was awesome.  I spent the whole time studying Angel and Roger in particular through all of the dreams, flashbacks, memories, etc. and I've been wondering whether Angel was trying to prevent Roger from knowing the truth or if she was encouraging him to figure it out in his own way. Not only that, but there's so many different ways you can take R-D. Gahh...it all seems to make no sense and all the sense in the world at the same time.

Overall Rating: 87/100

Hellsing: episode 13

Although the final fight was epic, this series as a whole ended on a weak note for me. There seems to be a lot of unexplained occurrences and I didn't like that the major antagonist of the whole thing only showed up an episode ago. I wonder if watching Ultimate will explain any of this. Also, I was really hoping Alucard and Seras hooked up. Oh well...

Overall Rating: 84/100

With the end of Hellsing comes a new anime to the Power Block. Taking Alucard's place on the Tuesday night spotlight will be.......Vash the Stampede and Trigun!

That makes two of us.

Hellsing to Trigun. That's certainly a change of pace.

Sorry for the lack of updates Foley. My computer crashed (logged onto a friend's right now) and everything I'm doing to fix it has been for naught so far. Obviously not abandoning this thread, but it might be awhile til I get any more reviews out.

Given the circumstances, that's perfectly reasonable.
