This brings up the question, what will CN do for their 20th anniversary of the channel.

Probably absolutely nothing, Cartoon Network is dead:smileyindifferent: Nicktoons and the Hub replaced it:smileyindifferent:

The Hub is like CN circa 2006.

Nicktoons is only available on high-tiered channel packages with television service providers, so therefore, it's still got nothin on CN. Just because they got a lockdown on DB don't mean it can do anything to CN.

Because the new Network heads want to replace it with Live action shows and Superhero cartoons

CN doesn't have anime. They still play 3 anime every weekday during their hours and 6 hours on Adult Swim's.

Though read this article about Bandai and how Cartoon Network was probably getting paid to run most of the anime people enjoyed so much over the years (as well as all the anime that some people didn't particularly care for).

http://www.toplessrobot.com/2012/01/bandai_entertainment_1998-201
2.php

Chances are the only anime CN paid the distributors to play were the likes of Dragon Ball Z and Naruto.

No wonder CN stopped playing non-toyetic anime. Chances are Nintendo pays them to play Pokemon and Nelvana pays them to play Beyblade. While they own Bakugan's merchandising rights and those toy sales paid well enough to keep the show airing.

So CN wasn't exactly playing those anime out of the goodness of their hearts or just because they thought they were good shows. I'm sure some of the anime were picked up because Williams Street wanted to air them but they could only keep doing that because other companies paid them to play other shows.

When the industry could no longer afford to pay to get their show's aired CN had no reason to pick up more anime especially as the popularity dwindeled and the few companies willing to play ball would rather pay CN less to just get them on Adult Swim.

So it's not that CN started hating anime more so it seems like they never really cared for it or at least they're neutral on it. They only saw value in it for as long as it got them ratings and when that dried up they saw no reason to air the ones they were not getting paid to play.

Answerman on Anime News Network had talked about this issue a few times. I'll try to find it and post a link. I remember he once said one thing about networks not wanting to do with anime is because it's not that profitable. Networks don't have a part in the merchandising most of the time, which is where most of the money for a show comes from.

You think they're watching hits on their vids? Cause maybe we could send a message by all watching the clips.

One thing is for sure there needs to be a revolution to fix this, I plan to get into animation myself and fix it from the inside by making better quality work that out shines the sub par cartoons that are on cartoon network right now. (to anyone that says Adult Swim is seperate, they are officially associated with Cartoon Network and air on the channel too so its still Cartoon Network technically and officially)

Shows that need to leave the air waves

Adventure Time

Regular Show

Mad

Also since william street created it have the toonami block be the Adult Swim Saturday instead and omit comedies from saturday night since they are crap anyway. Boondocks for one is just racism. I've seen tons of reviews and they keep saying its too racist, I actually agree anyway.

Working to get into animation, better watch out Adult Swim I'm coming for you!

MAD is funny and Regular Show is fantastic, I'm so so on Adventure Time but it has it's fans. Why should any of those shows stop airing? They get great ratings.

If you get rid of the comedies on Saturday what would you air in the 3 hours left empty? That would require either more reruns of the shows we have now or for them to pick up some new anime. Which I think they need to do since the only premiere is bleach and from what I hear it entered its final arc in Japan. (Old news I know) anyways I'm with you on bringing Toonami back but to have it late at night doesn't help. I think toonami would be better suited as apart of CN where everybody can enjoy. I'm a dreamer I know but it can't hurt to try and get kids interested in anime like it did for so many of us. P.S I apologize if you don't agree or I got off topic I tend to do that a lot lol.

They could fill the time without anything new but it would be really mundane because you'd have to double up a bunch of shows.

But if they got 1 or 2 new shows they could fill those hours easily enough.

Since it would in this scenario also be Toonami, they could maybe air some American cartoons that have older viewer appeal such as Samurai Jack, Sym-Bionic Titan, Megas XLR, Justice League, etc. They are already willing to play The Clone Wars on Adult Swim.

They would not likely be able to keep up with the ratings Family Guy and The Boondocks have been getting on Saturday though.

As I enjoy making schedules here's how I would do it.

9:00 PM - Megas XLR

9:30 PM - Sym-Bionic Titan

10:00 PM - One Piece (New)

10:30 PM - One Piece (New)

11:00 PM - Bleach (New)

11:30 PM - Tiger & Bunny (New)

12:00 PM - Stein's Gate (New)

12:30 PM - InuYasha: The Final Act (New)

1:00 AM - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

1:30 AM - Durarara

2:00 AM - The Big O

2:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop

3:00 AM - Ghost int he Shell

3:30 AM - Stein's Gate (Encore)

4:00 AM - Bleach (Encore)

4:30 AM - Tiger & Bunny (Encore)

5:00 AM - InuYasha: The Final Act (Encore)

5:30 AM - InuYasha

It's doing mighty well for Nicktoons but that's not hurting Cartoon Network. You can be sure the same episodes would have done better on Cartoon Network but they got plenty of years out of the Dragon Ball franchise so they're probably not to disappointed about Nicktoons getting their leftovers.

Monsuno is the only non-Dragon Ball anime they've picked up. I'm not going to consider Nicktoons a rising star in the anime universe until they get something that another network might have possibly wanted besides DBZ Kai which they don't even have exclusively. They might get Naruto Shippuden when the dust clears on the DXD situation but they've apparently shown no interest to FUNimation in regard to the likes of One Piece, SGT Frog or Fairy Tail (the other 3 very marketable series they could get from FUNimation that wouldn't be impossible to edit).

They get one of those 3 anime or something on par with them and they'll have my attention.

In the meantime I'll check out Monsuno to see if it's easier to sit through than other toyetic monster battle shows.

As for Cartoon Network, they're still in many more homes and they still have Pokemon and Bleach which run circles around Dragon Ball Z Kai's ratings because CN is in many more homes. Not too mention you're not likely going to see Nicktoons dare to air anime like The Big O, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, FLCL, Fullmetal Alchemist and Durarara. They probably wouldn't even have the b.alls to air InuYasha, Kekkaishi or Bleach even heavily edited. It can really only compete with kid's anime and unless they get Naruto, One Piece or Fairy Tail they're not going to be any threat to Cartoon Network's few remaining anime. Monsuno isn't going to do more business than Beyblade or Pokemon much less get higher ratings on a network in so few homes.

I do appreciate NIcktoons being willing to try things they never did before and fill that void action animation fans are feeling right now. Nicktoons and The Hub are both doing an admirable job filling that hole with action animation in the afternoon and evening where it should be. I do hope Disney XD and Cartoon Network follow suit but somehow I doubt they will.

Cartoon Network sure has changed when it comes to airing action animation. Coming off of Toonami's mostly acquisition model they decided to focus more on original productions and cut acquisitions back to a few select properties that would get good ratings or sell a lot of toys.

As time went on less and less kid's were interested in their action line-ups and can you blame them? Ben 10's not exactly a thrilling show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars bores me stiff, Sym-Bionic Titan and The Secret Saturdays were both cancelled before their time and Generator Rex (which I do like to an extent) took it's sweet time telling it's story and now will also be ending due to lack of interest. Batman: The Brave and the Bold (which was ostracized by people who couldn't get past it's campy style) was the one post Toonami action show that I really enjoyed until Young Justice and ThunderCats 2011 came along. They dropped Naruto and Dragon Ball Z for Bakugan and Beyblade... that's a pretty bad trade off.

Less kids tuning in and few kids notcing when the shows started getting worthwhile again means the ratings couldn't rebound and the incredible ratings DBZ, Pokemon and Naruto got in years prior became a thing of the past. Comedy was king again and action got the sidelines.

No more afternoon action on CN, now it's all in the morning and only for Ben 10, Pokemon and Beyblade. Even Bakugan is getting cut to one slot a week starting Monday. I don't like Star Wars: The Clone Wars but I figure it has gotten good enough ratings to earn a weekday rerun slot again but it never got one for long.

Funny thing was I had actually considered it a possiblity for Toonami to return this year on Saturday March 17th but now I see Cartoon Network has no intention of giving prime time hours to action premieres anymore.

So how do they honor Toonami's memory this year?

By phasing out their Friday night action block, moving Ben 10 premieres to Saturday mornings and most appauling of all, launching their long awaited DC Nation block on Saturday mornings at 10AM when it would surely be better suited for prime time.

Celebrating Toonami's 15th sure doesn't seem to be in the cards.

I didn't "hear" about it, but on march 3rd they're replacing their current Saturday morning Block with the "DC nation" Saturday morning Block, that means they're either re-scheduleing their anime, or getting rid of them entirely, and based on their opinion of anime, cancelling sounds more likely

Good schedule but I would like to see [AS] pick up Naruto shippuden. I'm not sure why but it seems like it could work out in the end. Disney was a horrible place for it to go as I don't think Disney has really done anime. Nick just doesn't sound good either with them having dragon ball already. As for One Piece didn't CN already air it and there was a problem or something.(maybe that was the 4kids version) anyways the anime I enjoyed [AS] will never pick up mainly due to popularity issues and possibly content. I do apologize if I got off topic at all or misinterpreted I tend to that.(not looking to be rude) one more thing I wouldn't mind seeing 2 episodes of bleach because 24 weeks is a long time to get off current arc this would cut it to 12.

Yes they are putting DC Nation at 10AM on Saturday mornings but it's not replacing Beyblade or Pokemon (which by the way usually win the Saturday morning ratings for Cartoon Network lately).

Bakugan Mechtanium Surge finished recently but the reruns got cut down to just one day a week as of today. Mondays at 7AM. That's it for Bakugan for now.

Here's the Saturday morning line-up starting March 3rd

7:30 AM - Redakai

8:00 AM - Beyblade: Metal Masters (New)

8:30 AM - Pokemon Black and White: Rival Destinies (New)

9:00 AM - Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (New)

9:30 AM - Star Wars: The Clone Wars

10:00 AM - Green Lantern: The Animated Series (New after 2 weeks)

10:30 AM - Young Justice (New)

The 10AM hour is DC Nation. It will have special bumpers and shorts as intersiduals kind of like Toonami used to.

Beyblade and Pokemon still air on weekdays as well at 7:30 and 8AM respectively.

Pokemon and Beyblade are not leaving Cartoon Network any time soon. Pokemon's premieres have been on CN Saturday mornings basically ever since it left Kids' WB.

Ah...I see, so DC nation is only 1 hour in length.........it occurs to me.......rather than having an incomplete Block with only two shows shown during an existing block.....why not intergrate beyblade Pokemon and Bakugan Into the new block and just call it Toonami?:smileyindifferent:

Because it's DC Nation not Toonami.

It's purposefully and strictly DC comics related content in that hour. Which is why I think it shouldn't be topping off the Saturday block but I digress.

If they wanted to they could make 8AM-10AM Toonami but they are really only giving Warner Animation time to do what they please with DC Nation and are not intending to make their own content for a block again because they're so incredibly cheap these days.

Personally I'd like to keep the likes of Bakugan, Beyblade and even Pokemon off of "Toonami". Toonami's about airing the best action cartoons around and those other than maybe Pokemon don't qualify IMO.

HELPeR for the TOONAMI, Mobile Suit Gundam, Dragon Ball Z, Harvey Birdman and Perfect Hair Forever boards. Feel free to ask me anything on those topics.

Sketch, should we make sure it's imprinted on your grave stone "He felt very strongly that Bleach belonged on Toonami!" - .hack-SIGN_John

If they're planning anything on that day, it'll be online, not on CN.  Would like to see at least something interesting, though.

If you were a mermaid, would you be able to feel cold?

I highly doubt it. Toonami will always be the figment of imagination.
