The first time I watched this, I had no idea that Ninamori's parents were getting divorced, nor that her father was sleeping with the secretary. Interesting what a couple years does to your attention to detail.
I also find it ineresting how Haruko didn't notice Naota until he called her "evil alien".
I kind of like how Haruko said "Very strange."
My main beef with this episode: Naota's ugly/"really bizarre" hat. It's just a fisherman's hat! It doesn't look THAT bad.
For anyone unaware, the 正s on the board in that half-second cut are Japan's form of tally marks. And Naota won the part of Puss in Boots 23 to 14. Not bad, considering there was another contender.

Masaomi is pretty heroic in his own way. Watching the series again, it is interesting
to see all the little looks when subjets like the Dollars, the Yellow Scarves, the Blue
Squares come up. Saika is scary, I can't blame Celty for being at least mildly disturbed
by her. It is kind of cute that Celty thinks she is an alien monster, it sort of
proves that no one is immune to pop culture influences. Masaomi's bang isn't as cool
as Spike's. Izaya actually behaved himself for once, although the fact that Erika
was talking with Masaomi about his not being able to go to Izaya for help about the
Dollars is kind of partial credit. Actually, it is pretty bad that Izaya doesn't even have
to try to troll and still ends up trolling.
Bleach -

Mayuri : Quiet pinhead. I just want to figure out what caused this rebellion.

The professor is kind of a complex fellow, for all his eccentricities, he really is
a decent fellow. Shion is a tough customer, she might be the toughest of all, certainly
the most adept at these kinds of assignments. I feel bad for Shigemori, it is tough to
have to lose a friend, particularly if you feel as though there was something you could
have done.
FLCL -
So, after being warned, having horns, and legs really, grow out of your head,
being dragged around the school by a crazy machine sprouting from your head, being saved
by Naota, Ninmori still didn't learn her lesson about deceiving people. I think
she'll be a perfect politician.
Cowboy Bebop -
Vicious is right, Spike is the only one that is his equal. I wonder is maybe
Shen was right, if Spike had come back earlier would he have been able to take over,
and possibly stop the violence. I think that Spike ultimately was weak, everyone
else at some point overcame their past, Jet, Faye, even Ed. Spike couldn't, and
it really was his flaw, Vicious was content to simply rule his new empire.
Big O -
I wouldn't want to open an insurance company in Paradigm city.
The end always cracks me up, Alex throws a temper tantrum, Big Fau pretty much
throws a temper tantrum, and it is like Big O just walks up and says, "You're grounded.".
Gits -
Post Traumatic stress is a nasty thing, but I don't know that it is solely
responsible for this. I think there are just people who live quiet desperate lives,
people who want the world to recognize and celebrate them for their uniqueness.
The nets in general can give that outlet for people, but at the same time it is
somehow false, anyone can lie on the net. I think the guy in the end will just
live out a quiet desperate life, and escape into fantasy. I feel bad for him.
InuYasha -
Naraku is always scheming some kind of dumb plan. It gets kind of old after a while,
but at least this particular scheme involves Sesshomaru, which is a nice change of pace.

Winry is just about the only reason to watch this show.

Bleach - Byakuya's test baffles me. Yes, he prevented Rukia from being able to regain her Sword's powers, but he also eliminated a rebel Sword, thus decreasing the number of Swords in rebellion. I fail to see how that shows his resolve to aid the rebel Swords.
Still, it was a fairly good fight.
The Zabimaru v. Senbonzakura and Renji v. Byakuya fights were better, though. Poor Renji. He still doesn't measure up to Byakuya. I did like how they worked in Renji's difficulties with kido by having one of the Shakkahos blow up in his face. I liked Zabimaru luring Senbonzakura into the hallway where he wouldn't have room to dodge.
I take issue with Byakuya saying he doesn't have the time to explain himself to Renji. Byakuya has at least twenty episodes before stuff really needs to start wrapping up for this filler arc. There's plenty of time for an explanation.
Ooh, it looks like we might get Round 2 of Ikkaku v. Houzukimaru next week. Cool.
Brotherhood - I find it interesting how Hoho, the Western Sage, brought bio-alchemy and directed it toward healing, and Father, the Eastern Sage, brought alchemic techniques focusing on conquest, death and destruction. Maybe they're supposed to evoke ideas of Buddhist teachings heading eastward and the Mongolian hordes rampaging westward. There's nothing in particular in the show to support this. It's just a musing.
It's touching to see Ross still alive, but I think I see what some people have said about the histrionics killing a mood with Armstrong's exceedingly joyous reaction.
Havoc's nifty. Only an equipment failure stopped him from fending off a highly agile attacker.
Barry's fun, but plenty weird.
DRRR - Kyohei's awesome.
Erica and Walker are oddball psychos, but fun oddball psychos.
Saburo showed admirable devotion to Kazutano. Saburo also showed tremendous pursuit driving prowess.
Hooray for the half-starved stray dog. It did eventually come upon the scene where Kazutano had been.
Namie is a scary, creepy and despicable person.
Kekkaishi - It's a shame that Gen is so outmatched by Kaguro. It would have been so satisfying for Gen and the viewers had Gen been able to best Kaguro. Instead, not only did Gen get beaten down, again, but he also didn't completely disregard what Kaguro said. He also ignored his instincts about the egg.

paying for kidnapped people, she is pretty creepy in general. Illegal immigrants
seem to have it pretty hard in Japan, random kidnappers showing up in squatter's tenements
is a rough life. I'm not surprised to find out that Izaya was the one who started Dotachan,
whenever there is some kind of embarrassing or irritating nickname he seems to be
involved in it somehow. It was funny when he just randomly answered the cellphone,
he had to know everything, he was just there really to taunt everyone involved, and
troll Shizuo. You have to wonder, what does his daily calendar list look like?
Arrange human trafficking, taunt a Celtic death spirit, troll Shizuo, fatty tuna at
Russia sushi, be a creep to a bunch of tan betches, embarass Mikado in front of Anri,
troll Shizuo again, call twincest sisters, and encourage Nami's creepy brolove.

I'm not surprised that Kaguro wouldn't have a worm in him. Gen should really be more
trusting of everyone around him, then again, it is why Kaguro's little speech would work
so well on Gen. I'm surprised the Kokuboro would really keep someone like him around, he
isn't exactly a team player. I wouldn't put it past him to betray them and take Karasumori
for himself, or at least try. Gen should know better than to take gifts from him, in large
part this is his fault, he could have left the egg.
FLCL -
This is the one episode that seems more frenetic than any other. In some ways I almost think
they should have divided it into two episodes, the first dealing with Naota, his father, and
Haruko's past, the second dealing with Naota finally swinging the bat. I think too many
details end up getting lost in the shuffle, it seems rushed.
Cowboy Bebop -
I love the spaghetti western references, with the unique twists that end up put on them.
One of the big rules in drug dealing is not to use yourself. Addicts don't make good dealers
for obvious reasons, and this is a fine example of that. Spike in a poncho and sombrero really
did look ridiculous. I don't understand why the police opened fire like that, it seems pretty dangerous.
From that angle any rounds that miss the target, or pass through it, would certainly still be
lethal to anyone on the actual moon itself.
Big O -
Angel's confession to Dorothy took a fair bit of courage actually. Dorothy is nice about it,
she does he best to comfort Angel, even though Angel probably really didn't deserve it. Alex
needs to go back to sensitivity training, calling women foolish creatures isn't exactly P.C..
Honestly, that is a comparatively minor character flaw of his though, megalomania sort of
outweighs misogyny.

I wonder sometimes if perhaps the Major was a thief of some kind during her teen years, prior
to her joining the JSDF. We don't really find out much about her formative years, and
I'd suspect that she probably was involved in a fair bit of crime, though probably nothing
directly violent. She certainly has a few underworld contacts, it is almost a certainty that
she recruited Pazu from a yakuza outfit. It really was a clever plan as well, to get the
