And?
As night falls upon the city, a fear grips its citizens. With the death of their hero comes the return of an old nightmare. He moves in the shadows and controls the minds of those around him leaving chaos in his wake. The inevitable return of pestilence is upon you. His return signals the begining of the end for you. Too bad the original cast themselves weren't informed... Most of them are all up for it, though.

Oh, and Sakamichi no Apollon is good stuff. Now I gotta be patient and wait a week for the next episode.

I'm going to prove my patience and wait until later to watch it. I've already spent tonight watching a new Lupin episode, and I'm planning on watching Eureka seveN AO tomorrow, so I'll have to watch Apollon with Kuroko no Basuke on Saturday.

Hmmm Sentai has it licensed, so I guess I'll wait for Hulu to get it, their stuff usually shows up there.
Of course, Sentai = bad dub and little chance for [as] to get it. :smileyvery-happy:

I hope it stays decent. Or gets better! It might even be good! :smileysurprised: I can hope!!

(though for the sheer lack of Anemone, it probably won't touch on how good the first series was)

I got no idea. But what I got is a G.E.D. and a "give 'em hell" attitude and I'll figure it out.

It's my favorite of the four Burgess Meredith episodes, Cid.

I got a late start on the Action last Saturday, because The Ten Commandments was just that good, even if my local station messed up the sound after they initially cut in local news instead of the part where the Israelites start out into the desert on the way out of the Egyptian cities. At least it was fixed after the next commercial break. Given that I had an early day on Sunday, I had to record the four usual shows and didn't get all of them watched until today.

I still haven't watched my recordings of Blue Sub #6, Trigun, Astro Boy and Gigantor. I should do that this upcoming week.

Bleach - I think that what we have is a failure of imagination in the Soul Reapers being unable to escape the flames. Surely there is some kind of spell which the three Captains could cast on Ichigo to shield him as the escapes through the fire. Barring that, even if the hole through which Yoruichi escaped had been closed off (which is highly doubtful given the size of the expanded hole, the vastness of the cavern underneath and the angle at which Tobiume's attack would have hit it), they have more than enough power to make a new hole into the cavern. They have spirit body equivalents of brains. They should use them.

Despite what Haineko and Tobiume said, Yoruichi's outfit made her look rather striking, just like last time. At least Tobiume showed some sense in that she recognized it was time to stop the petty insults.

It might just be me, but I get the impression that even Muramasa is ready to call malarkey on Byakuya's supposed reason for helping the Swords.

Oh, hey. Kenpachi realized he's faced Tenken previously. That's good.

Wait, weren't Shunsui and Ukitake among the first graduating class from the Soul Reaper Academy? I'm almost certain that was in canon. If so, shouldn't they have at least heard about Koga, Muramasa and their rebellion? Even if it happened long before the Academy was founded, I would think that such an important event should be part of the history the Soul Reapers are taught. If this is news to Shunsui and Ukitake, then the curriculum at the Academy is lacking.

Wow, it was astoundingly foolish for Orihime to try to heal Muramasa. She was nearly certain that this complete stranger with energy very much like that of an Arrancar, who attacked her for simply asking what he was doing there, was an enemy of her close and dear friend Ichigo, and yet she still did something which would make Muramasa more able to harm Ichigo when he doubtlessly would show up to stop Muramasa. I try not to jump on the Orihime-bashing bandwagon, but that was plain dumb. Oh, she has a kind heart. SO WHAT! The combat mentality is so puzzling to her that she can only conceive of having the options of helping this stranger who is almost certainly an enemy or leaving him alone. Guess what? There's a third option: destroying him while he's defenseless. Compared to that, leaving him alone is kind, and it's not quite so head-bashingly stupid as helping a deadly, deadly enemy.

Ishida, on the other hand, had the right and proper response to Muramasa: eliminate the deadly danger when an easy opportunity to do so has presented itself.

But hey, at least Orihime isn't alone in making a dumb move. When Hitsugaya came to Ichigo's rescue, the two of them could have essentially flown out of there, but they both (or all of them, if you count Hyorinmaru) dropped back down into the flames which Ichigo sought to escape. That's not exactly the brightest idea.

Furthermore, didn't the Mythbusters prove last week that in contests of fire vs. ice, fire will pretty much win hands down? Oh, but maybe the flames here aren't hot enough. The Mythbusters used a highly combustible fluid to fuel their flames. It's not like the flames here are hot enough to burn dirt and rocks or anythi... oh, wait. Yeah.

Why did Yamamoto wait until Ichigo had left to try to subdue Ryuujin Jakka? Wouldn't accomplishing that have made the coordination of efforts for escape attempts unnecessary? The crap, Yamamoto?

Brotherhood - I think the color of the blood was off. Given that such a large volume would have been outside the bodies from which it came for a very long time, the cells would have long since died, and dead blood is essentially black. Anyone who has ever had a blood blister which they didn't rupture (such as myself) can attest to that. However, I do recognize that such a color scheme would make Ed much harder to distinguish against the background, so I can respect that aesthetic concern.

Aw, poor sad May and her tear geysers.

Envy's glee in instigating the Ishval war is disgusting. I think it's more so than his Abomination form.

I don't entirely agree with Ed's assignment of blame. While Envy shoulders much of it, Father owns a healthy share as well, in that he sent Envy to start the war.

From a purely environmental standpoint, I'm not sure who got the rougher transfer assignment between Fuery and Falman. Sure, bitter cold combined with wind at Fort Briggs can cause tissue damage in a very short time, but the blistering heat of the Southern Command can be just as deadly and even more oppressive.

DRRR - I watched episodes 12 and 12.5 as well. First, I dug Shizuo smacking some sense into a very irrational Seiji. Second, I enjoyed Celty and Shinra's reconciliation. Third, heh, Shizuo throwing that whole fluorescent-painted gang out the window, :smileyhappy:. Fourth, I can't imagine a single situation in which Izaya would willingly involve himself that a Valkyrie or Dullahan would deem his role as being worthy of entering a warrior's paradise.

As for the last episode, maybe if Celty had busted Horada's head with the staff of her scythe, he would have suffered sufficient brain damage that he wouldn't have been able to execute his plan.

I want to know what law Celty broke under the witness of those motorcycle cops to warrant them chasing her.

Shins, Anri. The shins of those painted whores were right there for the kicking.

Kekkaishi - I had forgotten about Tokine mistaking Yoshimori's description of crows for one of cockroaches. It was slightly amusing.

Yoshimori could probably have been as good a Caster at the start of the series as he is now if he would have been willing to put up with Shigemori's boasting and ask him for help in practicing techniques.

Honorable Mention from elsewhere:
JQuest15: Tom indeed lived a very JET Life and kept Beaming just like a LASER. That night really proved to me that "A Boy Has The Right To Dream".....As Gene's Ship was counting down i could relate that to some of my experiences, nervous as hell wondering if i had what it takes, but then......"Believe In Yourself And Create Your Own Destiny, Don't Fear Failure" Yeah cheesy and lame but Toonami did have some meaning for me.

36 contenders this week.

For 1 April - 7 April, 2012, the Trunks Thread Top Ten Quotes of the week:
10. lithium_green: So I finished my game last night in time to watch DBZ and decided to stay up watching as much of the Toonami block as I could. Man, that was quite an experience. It's been ages since I've seen most of those old school anime (and I was thoroughly surprised they decided to show the final Tenchi Muyo OVA, which was made many years AFTER the first one aired on Toonami). I'm now convinced that a weekly late-night Toonami block would actually be something worth watching; a night dedicated to either all the old anime CN used to show or a block of entirely new stuff would be something CN/[as] should consider trying out. And hearing Steve Blum as Tom do his take on ME3 (and admit the ending sucked) was one of the best moments of the evening.
9. Winter_Rain: I heard about it from my lil sis, she sent me this random text on Saturday night all like "WTF Toonami is on"... she's a young'un so I think it's good that she got to see older shows that she probably never would have otherwise. You know, expanding her horizons and whatnot. Plus no nostalgia goggles. Some of her impressions were:
-She could tell all the shows were old and animation's come a long way
-She called DBZ "cliche for a shounen". That gave me some lulz. :smileyvery-happy:
-Apparently Big O didn't have closed captioning so that really irritated her because that meant all she had to go off of was the visuals
8. Metatronda: Yo, the video section just got crazy huge, what the hell.
7. Jingai: Gundam Wing - The original, and certainly one of the best... It is intersting to see the origin of so many of the storylines that the other series all use.
6. cidthekittyisfun: i think [as] created a time machine cuz we jus went back into time ah yeaaaaah *puts on the marty mcfly outfit* i like blum on my tv....even if they get rid of everything else..they shud keep blum announcing stuff on my tv.
5. Metatronda: Also, it seems like they're not going to fix the Saturday night schedule to make up for the lost reruns from the Toonami night, so I'm going to have to redo this week's Saturday schedule.
4. Poke_Nirvash: "Only Toonami on [adult swim]." Best April Fool's Day prank ever... My unrealistic pipe dream of Toonami Swim has finally come true!
3. mgangel1124: It really was amazing; I just had this huge, derpy grin on my face the entire night.
2. Top_Gun: What [as] pulled last night was easily the greatest thing they've ever done. I only watched Toonami's weekday incarnation very sparingly, but I was still hit with a massive flood of nostalgia as soon as TOM started introducing those shows. It's amazing to think about how much effort this must have taken to set up...not only did they have to approach FUNi, Bandai, and RightStuf to get one-off rights for these episodes, but then they had to make sure they could get Steve Blum on board. This wasn't exactly something they threw together overnight, and it really showed... Either way, that was amazing, and even more amazing was how the whole Internet seemed to explode as it was going on. The Toonami brand still has a huge amount of draw, and if it managed a sizable ratings bump, who knows...maybe this won't be the last time that we see TOM on the block.
And now, the Number One Quote of the Week is...
1. Metatronda: UPDATED SCHEDULE SATURDAY March 31, 2012:
12:00 - Bleach - 247 - Deceived Soul Reapers! The World Collapse Crisis
12:30 - Dragonball Z - 191 - Save the World

And here's Orihime, being a fucking retard.
Kenny <3
Please just kill them already, Yoruichi.
I know why they call you the flash master.
Seriously Orihime, great job healing the obviously evil guy and making things that much harder for everyone.
Chad is trippin' balls here, man.
Chad's grandpa is kinda attractive, not gonna lie.
Oh yes, talk the villain to death. That'll work.
Oh hey, Rukia actually gets to do something again.
Oh no, regular old hollows. Because they've never beaten those before.
It's not a sword, it's a lightsaber.
Sometimes I forget Ichigo's in this show.
I'd like to remind everyone that everything bad that's happened in this episode is directly Orihime's fault for being retarded.

Too bad that goon didn't know I've got like a million perfect ways of dealing with hostage situations.
You ever try just throwing something at a guy with a hostage?
Of course not, who the hell does that?
But that is exactly why it works every time.
So yeah, before he even knew what was happening, there was ten pounds of gun flying right into his face.

Bleach -- I really wish that they wouldn't portray Orihime as such an idiot. We get it, she's compassionate. But healing someone who can take over the world, or whatever he's doing is just too stupid. So Ichigo faces off with Muramasa but doesn't notice that there's this weird guy floating in the air? As fillers go this isn't bad but. . .

Brotherhood -- I love it when Ed opens the portal again just to tell Al he'll be back. This episode explains a lot. I still found it hard to understand so seeing it again helps.

Durarara!!! -- I like this show more every time I see it. I'm finally starting to remember a few of the characters. Shira's dad is really a bastard.

Kekkaishi -- Night Troops arrive. I don't remember seeing this one. I guess I fell asleep the first time through. Yoshi Mori really is childish about having the Night Troops there. You'd think that he would want to show everybody what he can do instead of sulking. I suppose that's a good way to illustrate that he's an adolescent and still figuring out these things.

FLCL -- I wish Cowboy Bebop came on before FLCL.

Orihime's poor decision does not erase Ichigo's culpability in allowing Muramasa to escape to the Living World.

Bleach - Given that Muramasa's whammy works on the mind of the Sword living inside a Soul Reaper's inner world, which is to say another personality within the Soul Reaper, I fail to see how it would work on Chad or Ishida. Well, unless they have undiagnosed and unrevealed M.P.D. I can see it working on Orihime, given that each of her faeries has their own personality, but not the others.

I got a chuckle out of Yoruichi's bit about giving Haineko advice from one cat to another.

Kenpachi's strong. A sword the size of Tenken's would be heavy lifting indeed. It would doubtlessly weigh several dozen tons.

That was actually a bit nifty when Muramasa separated the essences of the consumed Hollows inside the Adjucha/Vasto Lord he absorbed. Sure, the Hollows weren't very strong, but it did take at least a few seconds to engage each of them, and that's time the heroes didn't spend chasing Muramasa. It was a marginally effective delay tactic.

I get that Ishida has undertaken quite a bit of training since his duel with Ichigo, but so has Ichigo. Still, Ishida was able to go toe-to-toe with Senbonzakura, who Ichigo had trouble fighting within the last dozen episodes. If only Ichigo's natural talent had been paired with Ishida's initiative, then maybe we would have a truly fearsome hero to face the villains.

When I saw Koga's prison, it brought to mind the Black Coffin which Aizen used on Komamura. Maybe that's what we saw here, a containment measure inspired by the Black Coffin, or maybe it's the other way around.

I say Ichigo struck at the wrong target when he arrived. If this Koga guy was such a bad dude, Ichigo should have tried to take him out before he had awakened/recovered from his time in confinement rather than striking at Muramasa.

Brotherhood - Yeah, facing right up to Abomination!Envy sure is some nightmare fuel.

Father really could have done better to hide what had happened in Xerxes. It would have been a simple matter to transmute the wall into sand. Then Ed wouldn't have had all those pieces to put together Father's plan for Amestris. Sure, it's not something Father should, or even could, have foreseen, but why allow for it to be possible at all? Oh well.

DRRR - It's adorable to see Celty and Shinra admit their love for one another.

I have the feeling that Shingen is a far more sinister and dangerous individual than even his use of Saika on Celty would indicate. Also, he's probably the bad influence which twisted Namie and Seiji in their youth.

Masaomi is a great wingman for Mikado. Even when Mikado isn't there, Masaomi puts in a good word for him with Anri. He also is a great protector for Anri, constantly blocking the pedo teacher.

Kekkaishi - I have to wonder how the Shadow Organization is funded. They maintain the Night Troops, which is a reasonably large fighting force, and have what looks to be an expansive compound. The money has to come from somewhere. Is it organized crime? That Oghi dude has the feel of an organized crime guy to me.

I must also wonder how many ayakashi crises elsewhere in the Shadow Organization's theater of operations are going ignored since the Night Troops have all been dispatched to help guard the Karasumori site.

Honorable Mention from elsewhere:
vadernaraku: i give adult swim animu some credit at least they do present terrorism accurately i think, but looking back at my childhood i wonder if team rocket would constitute as a terrorist organization?

12 contenders this week.

For 8 April - 14 April, 2012, the Trunks Thread Top Ten Quotes of the week:
10. Poke_Nirvash: Orihime, what're you doing out of school at this hour? I never expected her as one to play hooky, unlike Ichigo.
9. Jingai: Upset over the attentions of an alien after the powers of a pirate king, just grab an uzi and find a grassy field to settle it. The shotgun wielding robot and cutie with .50 cal sniper rifle are optional.
8. Poke_Nirvash: Even if it's just her jacket, I'm all for Yoruichi taking off articles of her own clothing.
7. Jingai: Word of the Week : Obsolete. In related news, the University of North Carolina has dropped spelling from its journalism curriculum due to the advent of spell check.
6. SesshomaruBebop87: Big news! InuYasha: The Final Act is finally coming to DVD/Blu-Ray combo this Fall! No set date as of yet.
5. mgangel1124: I got nothing from this Bleach episode other than Orihime is severely retarded.
4. DangerHikky: ...for the sheer lack of Anemone, it probably won't touch on how good the first series was...
3. Metatronda: EUREKA SEVEN AO is...actually pretty decent so far. And the episodes are still named for good song titles! Huzzah!
2. Jingai: Muramasa : Well, thanks, I've got my reckress fiya, so I'm out.
And now, the Number One Quote of the Week is...
1. Poke_Nirvash: I find it interesting how Ryujin Jakka's spirit (at least at this point) is actual sentinent fire instead of a humanoid spiritual being like all the other Zanpakutos.

Eureka seveN AO is great. I watched the first episode twice, and the second time was better than the first. I wonder where they're going to go with it.

Also, Kids on the Slope is pretty sweet, although I have the same problem with it like I did when I first watched Baccano! Sub lag.

BLEACH

I still love this opening theme.

Last time on Bleach, Orihime's combined kindness and stupidity only made Muramasa even closer to releasing who we believe to be the fruity-looking Soul Reaper from the ending montage.

I'm starting to like Kenpachi's new voice.

"Huh, why does my voice have an echo like I'm thinking to myself?"

Boys and clothes are probably what makes Haineko so lazy.

Good job reminding me that Katen Kyokotsu's Short Sword must be avenged no matter what. Considering what's happened so far in the arc, revival for all the destroyed Zanpakuto at the end is guaranteed (and I'm not even spoiling) , but still, REVENGE.

Again, the color shading in the forest is awesome.

  JAMIESON PRICE VS JAMIESON PRICE.

Jazz music is awesome in any series, especially if the sax is involved.

  Meanwhile, in Chad's dreams...

When voice actors are shared between opponents, the battle starts to go to weird places. Places where roads curve upwards at 90-degree angles and background songs are played in super-duper-slow-motion.

Cool, a minature mushroom cloud of sakura petals.

PROTIP: If some stranger's trying to kill you, never play the sympathy card.

  And then Rukia saved everyone.

Out of all the new, stranger [adult swim] bumps, this one of the woman ascending into the clouds is one of the best.

  Or maybe not.

  "What happened?" "Inception happened."

Yeah, being stricken with Ukitake's TB is considered "feeling alright". At least he admitted to not having much time to do what he did.

You think Muramasa is more powerful than Aizen's zanpakuto?

  BRING ON THE LATIN CHANTING.

"Orihime, go run and hide. It's all you're good for at this point."

Chad's back. Even though Ishida's more relevant than him.

That's a very good point you made there, Senbonzakura. It's like you're speaking for those who aren't willing to accept Bleach's lack of logic.

Yeah, turns out that tree was fake all along.

  Ishida, you are awesome.

Why is Koga's "tomb" taking on the resemblance of one of those magician's closets where the sharp spikes enter the same time the hot assistant is trapped inside?

Rukia should've really learned from her earlier attempt that the same attack won't work twice.

Oh hey, we can see Senbonzakura's mouth. It's presumably what's making his voice sound more like Ed Elric.

I know that he's too wrinkly to look exactly like it, but the hair confirms it: Koga is that fruity-looking Soul Reaper from the ED montage.

And then Ichigo arrived one second too late.

"How did you break free of Ryujin Jakka's barrier?" "Because f*ck you, that's why."

THOUGHTS: It was nice to see Ishida and Chad back in action, Orihime's still dumb, Muramasa's about to screw everyone over, and I'm hoping that Yoruichi defeats Tobiume and Haineko in a way that throws murder out of the equation.

Finally, a random question: if Kekkaishi aired on Toonami Swim, would Steve Blum's voice accompanying the bumps before and after increase the watching experience?

Kekkaishi's rights expire in June. It will thankfully never air after that again.
oh, for those obessed about anime promotion - please stop, youre just wrong. we cant even debate it because ive made a decent living by looking at promo schedules and ratings grids probably for longer than youve been alive. i can assure you that if anime promotion was the answer to anime success then youd see more anime promotion. cos then id be making more mad cash and wouldnt have to write things on the internet about anime. -Adult Swim President Mike Lazzo

It's not libel when it really is a terrible terrible terrible terrible series.

It's only a "terrible terrible terrible terrible series" in the eyes of you and a couple others. As for [adult swim]? Ranked it a 7 on their 1 (Pokemon) to 10 (Cowboy Bebop) scale of anime likability.

Prove me wrong all you like, but I'm gonna be the one that's right in this argument.
