I don't think "stupid" is a word I'd use to describe Eva. "Something," definitely, but not "stupid." :smileytongue:

Don't bother with them anymore, gekko.  It's a losing battle that slowly kills your soul everytime you give a valid reason for liking Evangelion while they give no valid reason other than them saying they just didn't like it.  It's not worth it.

If you were a mermaid, would you be able to feel cold?

Hey, I've given plenty of valid reasons over the course of my many debates over it.

I'm just too lazy to do it anymore.

My new hot button series to complain about is Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.

If anyone feels like listening to me rant about how rubbish it is, please insert 25 cents.

Evangelion is a crock of overrated horseshit full of random biblical references to make fanboys feel intellectual while they fawn over the fourteen-year-old girls in skintight catsuits. None of the main characters are relatable or likable at all, and the studio releases box set after box set for it because it's become their favorite cash cow.

Those valid enough reasons for you, sir?

Oh my~

And this is the thing that bothers me most about Evangelion, one of the things Ang pointed out.

"None of the main characters are relatable or likable at all"

Yeah, pretty much that.

Although like I bring up every time, I did like Kaworu... but he lasted all of 2? 3? episodes?

Honestly, one of these days, I will sit through Evangelion again and write down everything I hate about it just so I have "valid reasons" for next time, then no one will be happy!

You had me at "skintight catsuits".

My personal thoughts on Evangelion: never watched it past episode 3, but I plan on finishing it, like I do with other anime. And just like a majority of the anime I've seen, I'll probably like it in some way or another. You might not agree with my opinions, and I might not agree with yours, but I will respect and accept your hate for it, instead of trying to justify why your opinion is wrong like I used to do with Somedude.

Finally, for my 2 cents on Panty & Stocking (just cuz Hikky brought it up)... I actually liked it. Not balls-to-the-wall awesome like Dead Leaves or Gurren Lagann, but still enjoyable to a degree. However, if there's one thing I can 100% agree with Hikky on about the show, it's that episode 5A (the nose-picking one) was the worst. I actually felt nauseous during that one, believe it or not.

PSG has some redeeming qualities though. The whole aesthetic of the series is great and well executed, I just can't stand the content. :smileyindifferent:

Yeah, the content of it is pretty off-putting.

My closest thing I have to an argument on PSG is the fact that some people (including yourself) believe that Panty's sluttiness is supposed to be some sort of joke that just isn't funny. IMO, her sluttiness is more of a character trait than a running gag. But I'm not gonna argue about it. That'll be saved for the diehard fans. And thankfully, there aren't any around.

Oh no, I know it's a character trait.

It's her entire personality. :smileytongue:

There are times in episodes where they employ that trait of hers for comedy and it doesn't work.

I don't know if there's people who find it funny or not, I don't.

It just seems like it's trying too hard to be edgy and "adult" to me.

Like a 13 year old's version of South Park.

Wheee, Eva fight! Amusingly enough, some of my first posts here were in the original Trunks thread vehemently defending Eva in general and Shinji in particular. Ah, youth...

On-topic schmon-schmopic.

How about that Bleach then?

I bet no one can guess what's gonna happen with Nel this week.

Amusingly, I do remember when the manga chapter of this week's episode came out.

Everyone was so surprised.

Oh, so it's like my stance on DN. It was well animated, but the story focused on none of the elements of the show's universe I found interesting (beyond introducing those elements) and instead hammered pretty much every aspect of the characters' personalities and traits I disliked.

Pretty much. :smileyvery-happy:

That's similar to my stance on Death Note as well.

Between the two, I'm not sure which I dislike more.

On one hand, PSG has a soundtrack with some songs and one in particular I really dig.

On the other hand, UNF Mikami and Matsuda.

It's a toss up.
