Only recently have I been involved in the Adult Swim community and started watching their shows (thanked to Toonami) and today at work, I was thinking of what show I saw quite a few years ago when I was a child.
Well here's the story. I was visiting my grandparents in Odessa, TX for the weekend (so I'm using CST for time here), which I used to do frequently since it was only thirty miles away from where I lived (only on weekends and summers). There, I had some very fond memories and one memory that just came up is that it was the first time I ever saw Adult Swim.
I do not know the exact time I saw it, but here's the detail I do remember:
~ This was after the logo change that Adult Swim has. So any shows that only showed during when it had it's original logo (Yu Yu Hakusho) I know for a fact I did not see on Adult Swim.
~ The show was an anime. So none of Adult Swim's original or any of the comedies aired.
~ The show was between 10:30 PM and 11 PM CST. Before it, Family Guy was airing and at 11 PM, InuYasha was airing.
~ I believe that this was on a Friday night since I saw anime during that time and did not leave my grandparents house the next day (I tend to go home on Sunday after a visit)
~ As I stated before, this was the first time I had ever seen Adult Swim at all. The next time I remember seeing it it was on Saturday night in which I saw Futurama. Before I saw Adult Swim again, Toonami had Rurouni Kenshin to finish up the Saturday for Cartoon Network. So it was definitely 2004 when I saw this.
~ The show's rating was either TV-PG or TV-14.
And yet I can't figure out what that show was. Some help would be nice as I'm curious about checking out said show.

Do you remember anything about the show specifically? Like what some of the story might have been? What the characters looked like? Were there giant robots?
Not much, but this is what I remember.
I do remember seeing a cave-like setting early on (or at least something dark). Rave Masters had one episode like this as well, but this one was different. What I also saw was some desert in the sceneary later on in the episode. I want to say Trigun at this point (even thought I have never seen the show before), but here is what throws me off, the thing at the ending.
So what I saw then was some bright lights and some walking going on. IDK, but the show felt more intellectual than the normal Toonami affair and more questions to be asked. So I'm stuck.
I had no clue what the story was about since I only watched one episode and didn't bother to tune in for the rest.
Edit: Also thought of this. The setting was definitely not in the past and may have been somewhat futuristic.

Were the characters lacking pants? If so, it was Reign: The Conqueror.
KIGUMA - Chapter 12 out now. Enjoy!

I do not remember seeing the characters lacking pants and as I said, I don't think it was located back so much back then, although you are right in that it was airing in 2004.

So given that I saw the show in 2004, I think any of these could have been the show:
- Trigun
- The Big O
- FLCL
- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
- Blue Gender
- Witch Hunger Robin
- Wolf's Rain
- FLCL
In which I have no clue what it is.

Cidz, I'm afraid to say that you're mistaken. FLCL is the one with 6 episodes. Blue Gender was 26.

Just watched the beginning of each and every Trigun episode to see if that was the show in mind. Unfortunately, it appears that it isn't the one with the cave I'm thinking about. However, I think I may have seen that before as perhaps Adult Swim started with Family Guy in 2004 at 9:30 PM CST with the show I'm thinking to think of at 10:00 PM CST and Trigun at 10:30 PM CST (the one with the desert scene). All I know is that I definitely want to see this show now and would support it's inclusion on Toonami.
I'll see if Blue Gender is the one that I'm thinking of later. Certainly getting that feeling.

Well I can't find the saturday schedule but heres a link to a monday schedule from 2004 April
Its a monday but airing between Family Guy and Inuyasha at that point was Witch Hunter Robin also it airs at 12 eastern instead of --:30. That's as close as I can find though unfortunately.
Also I see that Wolf's rain was airing on saturdays as of October 2004, though it was after Inuyasha. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop were two other animes airing saturdays around then.
A few weeks late in my reply but finding out sounded fun.

I think you're talking about .hack//SIGN. It wasn't on Adult Swim but when AS cancelled the original Saturday block and expanded to weeknights, CN started a Saturday night video game theme block aimed toward little kids called Saturday Video Entertainment System on Saturday nights. That was in early 2003 and I didn't watch the entire run of SVES but think it may have still been on Cartoon Network Saturday nights in early 2004. One of the early episodes of .hack//SIGN had Tsukasa going into a cave and opening a chest or something like that.
