Nay. No matter when you put it, hardcores will tune in and the rest of the universe will tune out.

I'm more of the opinion they sever all comedy on saturday night and air only anime or action shows that are actually worth the watch. Heck even play a few DC super hero movies that are more mature like Batman Under the Red Hood, or a Batman Superman movie that came out recently, I mean Adult Swim is part of AOL Time Warner so they could actually air those movies and have no objections from fans. They would also satisfy the comic book readers that arent into anime.

9 hours is a lot of action animation for one night. I like the idea of airing the DC animated films that are too much for Cartoon Network's hours but those films don't stand a chance at beating Family Guy and if they didn't air Family Guy in a nother slot to make up for that then they'd take a notable ratings loss. They've taste the sweet nectar of good Saturday ratings and they're not going to remove top rated comedy entirely when they know it gets better ratings than action in any slot.
Turner still has to pay to air those movies from Warner though and they're not very inclined to buy them specifically for Adult Swim because movies have typically done badly for Adult Swim.

It's a pretty rogue and rebellious idea, but if they mixed in the two, like an hour comedy and then an hour anime...there could be great results.
It'd be breaking up the flow, which is probably terrible for the ratings, but anime already suffers from lower ratings than comedy, and comedy fans are pretty reliable for watching their shows regardless of the time slot...
Awkward as it would feel I do think experimenting with airing hour blocks of action and comedy all night could yield interesting results.

Not so much on Saturday. The 10PM one does alright but the 9:30 one is rather low in both 18-49 viewers and total viewers. God, The Devil and Bob isn't exactly a ratings monster either. Both could very easily lose to Bleach reurns if nothing else.
It's a different story on weekdays because more 18+ folks are not going out on those nights. 9PM-10:30PM on Saturday doesn't draw anywhere near what Family Guy does at 10:30 or The Boondocks at 11PM. It doesn't even draw as many 18-49 as Bleach at Midnight or some of the anime that airs after that.
With trying anime first you're weighing the dedicated viewers vs. the casual ones. On most nights the casual viewership is plenty strong but on Saturday it's the weakest it is all week (other than 9PM on Sunday which has tough competition).
The dedicated anime viewers are already staying home to watch the anime and be more than happy to tune in for an earlier time slot even for reruns. You'd potenitally get more of those viewers than you can in the 2AM-6AM time frame. On the flipside the casual viewers are more likely to tune in later in the night and they have no interest in long monlogues and shows of a serial nature.
How quickly people have forgotten the remarkable ratings Dragon Ball GT and Naruto pulled in between 9PM-11PM. Both of those shows did impressively in those hours (as did some other shows) and that includes their surprisingly good adult ratings. Bleach could clean up in that time frame, there's no doubt about that. But maybe none of the other anime can as InuYasha may not be able to get a larger viewership going again after all this time but they would probably get higher in-demographic ratings from FMA: Brotherhood at 10PM than 1AM (I'm aware it's at 12:30 ATM but it wont be if they get something new and bump it later).
I think if nothing else an seperate run of Bleach tested at 9PM could yield good results. The show was made for prime time and it doesn't have TV-MA episodes that would keep it from airing in the 9 hour.
I made this thread to gauge other people's opinions on the idea but regardless I'd like to see them try action in prime time, if only Bleach. It's the safest bet and also is more deserving of extra airings given it's 200+ episode backlog. It's downright underused at this point.
