Now I can understand Sony presenting Squidbillies. I saw a comment about them being sellouts because of it, but I instead was thinking "Thats just good buisness acumen there". I was even able to hold my tounge with this [AS] Gold thing for a great amount of time.

But them supporting SOPA/PIPA is just plain awful. It just goes to show you that they want more money from DVD sales/TV ratings/Movie sales. So much so that they wanna cripple the economy and ruin the internet.

They're sellouts.

Well, the folks at Adult Swim may or may not support SOPA/PIPA, but the folks that own them- Turner & Time Warner- do support it.  Or at least are against piracy.

Being against piracy is part and parcel of selling media like TV and film.

Supporting SOPA, which gives government powers that are fascist in nature (everyone say hi to China's internet regulation offices, because it's the exact same thing) is ignorant, evil, or both.

I highly doubt that ALL the staff at Williams Street support SOPA and PIPA.

The main reason why these laws exist is because lobbyists from the movie, television, and music industry, were spreading money all over the feet in capitol hill. I wouldn't be surprised if Lamar Smith is swimming in a pool of money; I hope he get's a paper cut.

AS doesn't support SOPA. They have never said anything about supporting SOPA. Bebop's thread had no factual basis and he more or less admitted as much.

But where has all this "AS support SOPA/PIPA" thing come from? I really doubt they do.

I, too, think that this whole SOPA thing is the internet industry trying to make more money. They just don't seem to get that the internet industry makes more money than the entertainment industry.

Time Warner supports SOPA and they own Adult Swim.

Time Warner does a lot of things that the higher-ups at AS don't necessarily approve of, I imagine. But either way, I think every cable company supports SOPA on some level since its whole purpose is to get them millions of dollars basically.

It has already passed though, funny how this country works.
A bill passes that is controversial to the people, a bunch of organizations/companies stand up and publicly denounce it all the while loving it behind the scenes.
All the while they are waiting for the American people's amnesia to kick in and go off on some other random tangent/outrage and keep SOPA/PIPA in tact.

I truly believe that the vast majority of the American people are so complacent they wouldn't riot unless Uncle Sam walked in kicked their granny in the **noel** stole their food and raped their pet dog.

SOPA hasn't passed, though. It was a dumb bill. Politicians knew it was a dumb bill. They didn't vote for it because that would be political suicide. True this probably isn't the end of people trying to sneak heavy internet censorship into bills, but it's pretty much never going to be in any politician's best interest to advocate that sort of thing.
