What do you think the community would've been like if the forums were fully established by the day AS launched, or even if it were launched in 2002? Aesthetics-wise, user behavior, user demographic, fanbases, etc. And how do you think it would effect the message boards today if the forums were 10 years old?

Well, AS actually launched about a week before 9/11 in 2001.  So it would have been much different.

mmmm, now that you put it that way, I don't think AS would have established the forums back then. there would probably would have been rules to not talk about 9/11, because it was too early, and AS is owned by a media conglomerate.

the forums most likely would've been established after the action block premiered. but you know, that's just my assumption.

they probably would have had to make their own homebrew forum system that's not graphic intensive for 56k users. something reminiscent to the design of guestbooks that were used in geocities, or websites that were developed before 1999.

the forums would've been worse than the cartoon network forums. actually, ASMB was essentially a daycare for 10-13 y/o when it was established.

They were up and running before then by a year, but there was a massive and catastrophic server failure where everyone pre 2003 lost their account information and had to re-register for the board here.

How so?

Did they watch it back then in big numbers? I have to admit -- I only started watching because of anime. It never occured to me that kids stayed up that late.(could be wrong)

Explain what you mean a bit more.

look through the forum, all the sub-forums, section of the sub-fourms, and click on the very last pages. take some time to do reviewing, and you'll see that ASMB had a problem w/ 13 year old users.

I know that Kon complained about the infestation of 13 year olds on one of his adult swim articles, which were written back in 03'.
