The History of SHOTTS:
On October 1, 2006, [adult swim] ran an essay contest in order to give away one very special owl shotglass from their hallowed halls to someone else's grubby paws.
The cost : 33 words on why the author deserved the priviledge.
On October 8, 2006, the contest was closed and the winner and her winning essay were announced during the Sunday Viewer Bumps :
"if i won the glass, id take my shot and send it to another [as] fan.
they would do the same.
it would be like that stupid traveling gnome.
only better and stuff."

Rules and Regulations to join this Journey:
When [adult swim] awarded the shotglass, they set forth two rules that we must all adhere to :
1. You Must send it to another [as] fan.
2. You Must wash it before you send it.
They know their fans too well. 
And over the course of this long and winding journey, further rulings have been made by the Committee of Stuff to help ensure the safety and continuation of this little social experiment :
* Please use FedEx or UPS. This is too important for normal U.S. Postal. Not only that, but carrier services like FedEx and UPS offer tracking numbers as part of their service
without any additional charges. Tracking numbers = peace of mind. 
* If you want your shot with the glass, you MUST post in this thread asking for it from the person who will be sending it.
The point of things is to be inclusive and not exclusive so all gimme-gimme's have to be done in the public eye of this thread and not hiding in the land of PMs and IMs.
* The last person chosen chooses the next person, through many different means. Please be fair and just. This also keeps things from cycling among only a few people.
* If someone chooses you, and you accept, you MUST post your promise to continue the shotglass on its journey.

* Keep us up to date, if you happen to have the glass or are receiving it so we wont freak out. 'cuz we will. Seriously.
* Conversely, if an issue pops up while you are hosting that will slow the journey in any way / shape / form / Wonder Twin Powers Activate! , let us know!
You don't have to spill every detail - crap happens, we've all sadly been there, and some details can be too painful to get into with a bunch of strangers.
We just ask to be kept generally informed of things whether directly on the thread or via PMs to duzitickle or katt_goddess. It's not just shotglass concern, it's Member concern as well.
* You must be PM system available to be in this Swimmerhood. There's reasons behind this :
- the minimum age for the boards is 13. If someone sent a shotglass and box full of mystery crap to a 13, 14, 15 year old...well, the worse case scenarios are all bad.
- there is limited personal info exchanged that under no circumstances should ever be put on the boards proper. Ever. We're talking mailing infos which once again is not
something that anyone here should be getting from a youngster. Said mailing info is only done between the one shipping to the next-in-line and no one else. So, lets keep
this 18+, for all our sakes.
* Everyone who's had their shot from the glass needs to be noted, to avoid repeats. And that's not just for our records, WS likes to laugh at the list too.
* Please dont take this wrongly folks.. you need to be an established member of the boards to be in line for this.
If we dont know ya.. how can we be sure that you have the same intentions regarding [as]?
If you're not established.. it's an easy enough fix. Just post with us and let us get to know you and you'll be established in no time.
The only difference between newbie and old hat is merely time.
* We need a list of everyone who's had it and the next ones in line, etc. 'cuz we all like to keep good records about stuff like this.
It also helps to keep things on-track on those occasions where holidays and shipping delays conspire to make us forgetful.
* If you're chosen, but fail to log onto the boards for 1 week after being chosen to accept, your spot will be forfeited and the chooser chooses again. This is also to help keep
things rolling along regularly.
* There will be no trading promises of sex for the shotglass. NO NOOKIE! period. You think we wouldn't have to have this as a real rule but there you have it. An Addeum to
this rule is no using the shotglass as an "athletic supporter" either.
* When the shotglass journal gets full, the whole box goes back to duzitickle for journal replacement and general swag pull.
The shotglass then goes back on the trail while WS recieves their own box of travel momentos and a complete update of the adventures thus far.
* When the Hot Shotts List reaches 100 official members, older members can reapply to host again [same rules apply] and participate in contests for reals.
But the emphasis will always be on newer members getting spots. Consider the Host recycling as a means to keep the shotglass in circulation instead of sitting on her
bubble.
* Anyone signing up for this understands that they could end up with almost -anything- along with the shotglass as previous Hosts take things out and add things back in. That's part of the fun but we're all a weird bunch so be aware of that.
Conversely, people are reminded that Federal rules [as well as politeness in general] apply as to what can be included as grab-bag-swag.
- NO drugs, alcohol, drug paraphernalia [including 'legal' things - this goes over state and potentially country lines so what's 'ok' one place might not be elsewheres], and / or anything that would make someone physically sick just to look at.
It's common sense and no one wants to deal with prison due to a shotglass.
* Should this experiment in trust, travel, and [as] glass-related shenanigans draw to an official close, the shotglass, journals, and box o' swag go back to WS via duzitickle.

The SHOTTS Membership Rights and Lefts:
Membership in SHOTTS is easy and usually painless. Just post in the thread, let people get to know you by participating on the boards themselves too, participate in any ongoing SHOTTS contests and be willing to abide by all the rules set up in the opening post. It may seem like a lot of "work" but this being the interwebs, we can only really know someone by their posting presence. Plus, if you're in the thread, you're more likely to catch a contest that appeals to you which increases your chance of getting a spot.
Provided that you are eligible [ie, 18+ and a **non-IP'd member of the [asmb] ], once you win a spot on the list, it's yours. You'll have your SHOTTS number to do with what you wish. Please note, that won't be your WS SHOTTS number since they assign one of their own based on people fondling the shotglass and not just on the stops made.
Once a person is chosen, they have one week in which to post their acceptance or decline-age. If they fail to post within that alloted time, then unfortunately a new person will have to be chosen for that spot. Sorry, but it's all to keep things from stagnating and it's nothing personal. We all know that crap happens sometimes that keeps people from getting to the boards and this doesn't mean you can't try for another spot.
That spot entitles you to being the host family for the Traveling Shotglass for a duration of one week before washing up precious and shipping the whole shebang out to the next-in-line. It also means that you will be the one to pick the next-in-line from people posting in the thread via a contest of your own chosing. You will have 3 days in which to come up with a contest and post it on the boards. From there, you will have up to 11 days in which to play out your contest equaling two weeks tops from point of acceptance to naming the next member. The setting of a time-limit on contests is also another means in which to keep things going so again, nothing personal.
It is up to you to get the required shipping info from the person next-in-line via the PM system when that time comes. This info is -never- to be posted publically or shared with others. The rules are very strict about this kind of thing and don't think for a moment that a breach of this confidentiality won't get you in massive trouble. Admins, Insiders, Mods and even HELPeR creatures are all rampant in this thread not to mention all those participating who want to keep seeing this journey continue for as long as possible. Not even WS / [as] knows the exact addresses of everyone who has participated and neither should anyone else; that's as it should be.
Interest in SHOTTS also means full-access to Committee of Stuff [CoS] meetings. CoS meetings are called when there are problems, queries, and general 'serious bizness' type stuff that require a chatroom environment to be worked out in without cluttering up the thread itself. On those rare occasions where a CoS is needed, a neutral chatroom is created and linked in the thread which allows all who are interested to attend without having to worry about differences in IM programs among the various members and members-to-be. All that's needed is for people to show up around the posted time and click-n-enter to attend. It's off-boards but general board rules still apply. Which means beware the asshat. 
And the current SHOTTS roster is riddled with them and always looking for more.
**non-IP'd member means exactly that. If you are somehow hiding on an alt after being served the ultimate bansmack by an Admin, then you are ineligible for a spot. 
It doesn't matter how you got the IP, what does matter is that open and easy communication on the boards and trust is a vital part of this whole experiment. Being IP'd obviously means that those things aren't guarenteed. So please don't make attempts for a spot if you are on the boards on borrowed time. If nothing else, consider it as further keeping yourself out of trouble by not drawing more attention to yourself.

Welcome to the wonders of copy-pasta without super re-editing.
I edited the intro to reflect the one week rule to keep things from getting too confused and to hopefully encourage people to stick close to the thread when a contest / decision is going on. And I'm afraid the edit seemed to bork the spacing on some things. o.O I don't dare go back in there to try and fix things since I might end up doing something even worse considering that the edit process I just did may have been a glitch anyway. At least it's not totally borked.
