General Adult Swim Discussion

                              Does anyone else get sick and tired of someone complaining and moaning about adult swim shows, the network and everything else. I understand  Adult Swim isn't what it use to be back then but it's a new era and we're seeing alot of new creators and shows being brought in. Some  stay . Some don't.  If certain people are sick of boring,unfunny, unoriginal  programs try pitching to Adult Swim  now while they're accepting new show ideas/material.

                                               I'm just sayin' 

                          If you look on the main page on the Adult Swim and go to Submissions they are looking for new game ideas and new tv shows. I know somebody out here has the next best kept thing

                         So for those who always wanted to work or created programs for Adult Swim this is your chance.

                             Is there anyone working on anything new for Adult Swim?

Much Uh-pree-shee-aye-shone for the tip.  Yes the hate-turds are a tiresome bunch, afflicted as they are with "Internet Toughguy Syndrome" and terminal constipation, but they are a profoundly irrelevant price to pay for the overall fun and opportunities to be had on the {AS} site.  Now to come up with a premise that'll rearrage yer buttcheekz..........cuh-cuh-cuh

                     I'm curious though what makes an adult swim show so great or fit the style of their network or what are the key ingredients to making a successful adult swim. Is it the animation or the writing. I figured that the animation can be cheap,low budget  crappy but if the writng is good then you have a better chance

                  I've been a fan since the beginning but could never figure out Do you  have to pitch to Adult Swim, or will they just accept anything that's edgy and can get their hands on?

                                 I guess those wanting to work for them will never figure it out but i would like to hear those who may have tried or have plans to pitch them something to share their thoughts

Im still waiting to hear from them about my pitch to them I had my mother send in.

However, part of the reason why I had one of my cartoons pitched is becuase I love [AS] and what it has become and would love to see an idea of mine among quality programs like Superjail and Venture Brothers.

            Cool.  It would be nice to see someone off this forum or a fan of Adult swim finally achieving their dream at creating a show. I know Nick Weinfield (I think that's his name) is no longer in charge of pilot developments for Adult Swim. I wonder who's taken his place now.

                                  and speaking of adult swim shows a i went on their oage on myspace and it amazes me to see a few of these pilots get turned down as some of them,tweaked a little could be amazing here's the list of pitches that didn't have a chance. I love the idea of Taking care of Wizness

Pitches That Failed

People often ask about what kind of pitches don't make the grade around here. We rarely answer. But, since you've had a pretty good week and you're letting us put you in your car seat without kicking us in the eyes, here's a bone.


Dracuvula
So he doesn't have fangs, he has a spiked uvula. While this novel idea seemed great at first, by page five of the spec script, Dracuvula had been forced to convince three victims to manually gag him. You can't keep up a pace like that. Denied!

Robots That Function Normally and Don't Kill
This pitch pretty much took the fun out of robots before you were done reading the title. "Like the first half of 'Runaway,' but without Gene Simmons," didn't really sell it either, but we do believe that all of Runaway may have been better without Gene Simmons. Either way, denied!

Stool Samples, The Musical
This one came so close, but the music just wasn't all that strong. Too Phil Collins-y. Denied!

Learning Anatomy with Old Man Wrinklers and the Cooler Kids
We had this gentleman arrested shortly after the meeting. Denied!

Character Crisis
It had no characters, just objects. The writer refused to make them talking objects, so there was no dialogue or action. We're pretty big on those things. Denied!

Femmy, the Talking Feminine Product
Okay, some objects shouldn't talk. Denied!

The Ironic Super Hero
It felt kind of familiar. Denied!

The Conversational Monster
Ditto. Denied!

Dethklok Babies
Murderface without a mustache? We don't think so. Denied!

Taking Care of Wizness
The idea was a reality show that followed the everyday lives of Wizards. Telling the creator that wizards were, in fact, imaginary and therefore not great subjects for a reality show was alternately one of the saddest and most satisfying moments of our professional career. We never got to shatter anyone's world when we waited tables. Denied!

If [AS] can manage to survive a few more years, once I learn enough about cartoons, I'm gonna pitch ideas to them endlessly, until they accept one. It's practically my goal in life.

thats what im doing right now... of course the majority of my ideas are more along the lines of horror stuff.... which would rock if [as] began airing more horror programs

but yea... thats my current plan right now

i'm a professional muse. i'm full of ideas. i just don't have the cartoon making knowhow. the last class i took about making cartoons taught us all this archaic crap like director and someother program that they knew was basically obsolete, only to spend about a week on flash. lame. SO if any of you kids want to chillaborate on cartoon creations, let's get the ball rollin.

(this is why tim and eric were brilliant for making tom goes to the mayor)

If you can do a good, well thought out, horror/comedy show, it could be incredibly interesting. I know I'd watch, and AS might be interested in something like that maybe.

i suppose the idea of having your show picked up is enticeing. which is why a clan of mods is deliberating as we speak on which 90% of the users making suggestions shall be bann'd.

                           Anyway someone had mentioned about a horror/comedy pilot. That sounds cool. I would watch that. I know the tried that once before . I forget the name but it was bascially a parody/rip-off of Evil Dead. I agree if done right it could be a hit.

Yeah, you can make suggestions. This thread follows the ToS just fine.

Frankentimes might fit the comedy/horror things, at least it sounds like it could.

Dark Lord if  that show is as good as Morel Orel then that might possibly become my favorite  new show. From hat I've seen. He has some images on his page (Dino that is) it looks good..I have faith in him

He said it was going to be really funny and not as serious as Moral Orel season three. I'm hoping it has the same style of humor as Moral Orel season one, but I'm pretty sure Dino's trying to move away from the type of stuff he was doing with Moral Orel on this project. Either way, I agree that the show has great potential. I can't wait for it to air this Fall.
