I also enjoyed Napoleon Dynamite; it wasn't classic-era Simpsons, but it was certainly not modern-day Simpsons.
Also, Napoleon's brand of humor was a kind of situational humor that I just couldn't help but to laugh at and/or stay tuned for. I'm gonna miss it.

Wow, Harold & Kumar and King Star King sound really good.
They got Monster's Vs. Aliens and Big Bang Theory staff working on the latter, so I can already tell there will be some promise. Plus, I love the Harold & Kumar films (Especially Guantanamo Bay. That was priceless.).

(also, it's Fox run ended in 2009, so that could open up room for "Bob's Burgers" (currently in it's 2nd season) as a replacement)!
If we do get Bob's Burgers, its not going to replace King of The Hill. Not yet. KOTH had 259 episodes while Bob's Burgers hasn't even reached it's 52nd episode yet. So the latter would get reran too much quicker if they replace KOTH with it too soon.
But Bob's has grown quite the beard. I'm glad its getting a 3rd season.

Adult Swim can't compete with primetime nor should it. It's a late-nite block for a reason.

Except it's #3 with 18-34 and 18-49 in prime time and you can bet they want to stay in the top 5.
Now mind you I do not recommend airing premieres in the 9 hour but the 10 hour has potential. They might even be able to get good ratings from a 10PM premiere on Sunday but it's considerably safer to run Family Guy at 10PM and follow that with a premiere and then another Family Guy. But why can't Adult Swim vie for 10PM premieres? Comedy Central and TBS do it so why not Adult Swim? They can play it safe for a while but if they ever want to rely on more than the strength of FOX reruns they have to be more ambitious. It looks like they're trying though.
You're a little too obsessed with the status quo, except the status quo with anime which you'd like to see abolished if nothing changes for the better. It would do Adult Swim a lot of good to be able to bring in their own prime time worthy programs that wont tank like the reruns of live-action do on Saturday night.

10pm is fine. I just don't see them getting any traction at 9pm.

I'm glad I'm seasoned enough as a fan to realize that we will most likely not see ANY of those pilots.
The only one I'm rootin' for is the freestyle rap one. The rest seem like they're being produced by hacks. Harold and Kumar's THIRD movie writers? Community? DRAWN TOGETHER? weren't those drawn together guys given the death penalty for their crimes against humanity already? The Big Bang Theory? Wow man really got some legit cred there. ![]()

Here's my thoughts on these pilots. We might see a couple of them--we saw Black Dynamite and Let's Do It! after all.
Untitled Animated Harold & Kumar Project (Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg)
A Lionsgate-produced animated version of the eponymous stoner comedy series.
You know, I kind of like these movies. Clerks made an adequate cartoon, so maybe this has a shot at being enjoyable.
Rick & Morty (Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland)
A genius inventor and his less-than-genius grandson and the life journeys they share.
Community is pretty well-liked around here. I've never seen it but I'm willing to give that one a shot.
Colonel Wallace (Greg Cohen)
The 15-minute project from that centers on an eccentric Southern fried chicken magnate and his adventures with his family.
Cohen has written a couple of Eagleheart episodes and worked on Demitri Martin's show and King of the Hill. A show about a "fried chicken magnate" sounds lame, but pilots often change a lot before making it to series. I feel positive about this one.
Coffin Dodgers (Dave Silverstein and Matt Jeser)
A half-hour project about misfit grumps who get into Animal House-style trouble at a cozy suburban retirement home.
I don't really like anything the Drawn Together guys have worked on.
Green Bench: The American Day Dream
A group of friends have pooled their money to buy a large office space for their business. The only problem is they haven’t quite figured out what that business is. In the meantime, it’s an awesome headquarters where their petty, self-centered and mischievous minds can wander.
No idea about this. I've never heard of Green Bench.
Freestyle Love Supreme
The half-hour live-action comedy from Ars Nova (Black Dynamite, In the Heights) revolves around IT guys who work on their freestyle rapping at the office, much to the annoyance of their co-workers.
I don't know how this concept translates into a TV series.
King Star King (JJ Villard and Eric Kaplan)
A 15-minute animated pilot about a modern-day He-man who’s half-warrior, half-idiot.
As far as Eric Kaplan is concerned, he was involved with Big Bang Theory, Drinky Crow, MWA, Malcolm in the Middle, and Futurama. So.... sporadic success there. Maybe there's hope.
Rolling With Dad (Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg)
The half-hour animated effort centers on a brilliant but disabled man dealing with his much less intelligent family.
No idea about this one either.

On the off chance we do get some info about what's airing May 26th in a PR in the afternoon or evening here's my list of potential shows based on what is available and who Adult Swim has worked with before. There is only 1 Sentai Filmworks show on this list because of their practically non-exitent relationship with that company
So I guess I'll make my final stabs in order of plausibility
Most Likely New Series:
#1 InuYasha:The Final Act
#2 There is no number 2
The Kimma Pick:
#1 Steins;Gate (might be too soon though)
#2 Fractale
#3 Shangri-La
#4 Angel Beats (you know because of that one card but I think they probably skipped it afterall)
The Wild Cards:
#1 Panty &Stocking with Garterbelt
#2 Tiger & Bunny (might be too soon though)
#3 Deadman Wonderland (possibly too violent)
The Shounen Safe House (aka Viz is freak'n lazy):
#1 Naruto Shippuden
#2 Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan
Toonami Returns:
#1 Outlaw Star
#2 Dragon Ball Z
#3 Trigun (well it was Toonami on one night)
#4 The Big O Season 1
#5 Yu Yu Hakusho
#6 Tenchi Anythng
#7 Gundam Anything
#8 Blue Submarine No. 6
Not Dang Likely:
#1 Fairy Tale
#2 One Piece
#3 Madoka Magica
And in total order of likelihood in my opinion:
#1 Inuyasha: The Final Act
#2 Outlaw Star
#3 Dragon Ball Z
#4 Naruto Shippuden
#5 Steins;Gate
#6 Trigun
#7 The Big O Season 1
#8 Fractale
#9 Nura:Rise of the Yokai Clan
#10 Tiger & Bunny
#11 Panty & Stocking
#12 Shangri-La
#13 Deadman Wonderland (violence keeps it low)
#14 Angel Beats
#15 Yu Yu Hakusho
#16 Tenchi Anything
#17 Gundam Anything
#18 Blue Submarine No. 6
#19 Fairy Tale
#20 One Piece
#21 Madoka Magica
But truthfully nearly any of these shows besides Final Act has around equal chance of getting aired on May 26th
I guess what I'm really saying is it is probably hard to surprise us but then again who expected Moribito or Kekkaishi?

Little disappointed in the spread. Not that there aren't bright spots. But almost as many negative surprises as positive.
Negative:
Harold & Kumar: really? I'm not a total hater, but eh, part of what AS has been is often to more make fun of this sort of pointedly hollywoody wacky type hurdfodder. Very surprised to see them pursuing something like this. I mean, what's next? An American Pie cartoon? Srsly though - if that happens ima stop watching.
Coffin Dodgers: It just sounds like a pitch. I mean, yeah, that's what these mostly are. But this really sounds like a giant spitballed pitch by some ex-ad agency interns just out of college or something. Drawn Together was hard to stomach. And actually I fault Drawn Together for it taking me so long to check out Ugly Americans, which I liked way more than I thought I was gonna. There are things about the concept that I like. But I just look at what Drawn Together was creatively (blugh) and read the "pitch" and just can't help but think it's going to suck way more than it should.
King Star King: Where's mah friggin Korgoth? **sholes.
Green Bench American Daydream: Oh please can I watch another sitcom about a room full of self-entitled mean people with no direction who just want to be rich but don't want to work? Oh pleasepleaseplease. I can't get enough of that mentality or attitude in rl. I need my escapism to reflect EXACTLY the things I'm trying to escape from.
in case you can't tell Adult Swim I'm being SARCASTIC.
"Family": Most of these pitches seem to include that. They're all about "families" and that's fine. But come on Adult Swim what happened to the counter culture? When did you become spokesnetwork for family values? What are you Lifetime? Are we going to see some women's issues explored next?
because women are - just awful.
"Mainstreamyness": Seems like a lot of "hey look we're a network w/sitcoms Americans want to see!" type stuff going on this year. Very disappointing Adult Swim. Very disappointing indeed.
srsly though, some of those might be good who knows. Have to watch em and see.
Positive:
Freestyle Love Supreme: Sounds Interesting possibly. Or possibly really boring. Depends on the details. But encouraged moreso than the previously mentioned shows.
Rick & Morty: Dan Harmon is wonderful. Justin Roiland is also wonderful. They are creative and nice and deserve nice things. Can't wait for their show.
Colonel Wallace: Sounds interesting. Though again with the family thing. It sounds funny though.
Rolling With Dad: Not gonna get my hopes up. Sounds kinda mainstreamy and again familyness. A lot of these do. But I got a feeling about this one, we'll see.
Again, obviously dunno til I see them. I have a lot of faith in Dan H and Justin R so I'm pretty sure I'll like that show.
even if it's a piece of crap.
The rest will have to win me over with good funny creativeness.
If not I plan to register my displeasure RIGHT HERE on the internet. So - all are warned.

Also yay Bob's Burgers. 3 Seasons so far. Lookin good.
Also it would be funny if Cleveland Show got canned even before it started airing on AS, though I'm guessing Fox will renew it.
Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dyanamite are no real surprises. Kinda expected them not to hang around long.

Yeah umm... I don't know if this has anything do do with the Upfront at all, but Steve Blum(TOM) posted some sorta cryptic messages on Twitter like 15 minutes ago...
Tweet 1: @blumspew Somethin' juicy brewin' today... stay tuned...
Tweet 2: @blumspew ...in about 3 hours...
I dunno, I just found it interesting how its "something juicy" on upfront day... Maybe its just me?
