With Bleach ending, are ASA's days numbered?

In case you were unaware, Bleach, easily the most well performing anime on the ASA block, is set to end next month. The how's and why's aren't important, what's important is that ASA's sole ratings grabber is set to end.

What will ASA do when it does? Will the block finally end? Will the head programmer for ASA be gutted in an attempt to save it? Or is another show set to come in?

They've managed to stick around this long after Bebop ended.

Not too much of a stretch to see them keep on with the shonen garbage.

I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced it with Naruto, to be honest.

Or Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Avatar is owned by Nickelodeon, you should know that. Plus Disney has Naruto. But I do agree with the sentiment that [as] should pursue shows that wouldn't air on Toonami. Sucks when it seems like they can't get good stuff due to S&P's overbearing nonsense.

Bleach still has at least three years before it's going to end in America. We're way behind Japan. It is far too early to be speculating about what will happen when Bleach ends, because really who's to say what animes AS will pick up in the next few years.

AS won't run out of episodes for years.

Less than two years to be exact, at maximum.

If they increase the volume by doubling up the episodes, one year.

They won't increase the episode volume and there are bound to be a few dubbing delays, so I'd say 2-3 years easy. Also you really can't say how many more episodes of Bleach there will be even if it's ending at some point in the nearish future, so it might even take more than three years for AS to finish the series. This all just seems a bit preemptive.

Viz is known to speed up/cut short shows.  In a case like this, with no real ending, they might just fast forward.

Stop spreading around propaganda and fear mongering.

How do you think that Viz would rush out a show that's making them money when they could just keep slowly bringing it out while rapidly bringing in money?

Why would a head programmer be gutted?

I know, not important.

Cutting it early seems more likely than Viz speeding up dubbing. They probably have enough episodes dubbed to double up again for a while but for whatever reason they aren't. I wish they would because we're not getting back to Ichigo's fight with Ulquiwhatshisname until sometime late this year at this rate.

1. Adult Swim, seeing the series it as at an end, rather than plod through endless filler, might go ahead and double it up.
What's worse, doing it quick or boring your audience which knows it won't improve?

2. The head programmer for ASA over the past six years has failed harder than the Washington Generals. Gutting his/her ass and moving in a new direction may help the block enormously.

Bleach is their highest rated anime, I'm sure they aren't at all worried about it boring people away and would much rather keep the series in premiers for as long as possible.

America has 123 episodes left of Bleach; aired @ weekly intervals

Assuming Viz continues the dubbing process at their normal pace with no breaks off, it will take 861 days (approximately 2 years) for Bleach to finish in America.

But I digress, since it's not realistic to assume Viz wouldn't speed up the dubbing process for AS, let alone not take a month-long break.

I'm assuming that means "no."

I dunno, I don't see what could replace it.

If they know it won't improve, how would speeding through episodes make a difference? Especially since many people know about the show far in advance of the American premieres, it's specious to say that people are gonna care if you go slow or quick.

And The Washington Generals are a fake team playing a fake team...so good job with the analogy.

Right now, it's too early to predict the outcome of Bleach's end on [as], and the ramifications it will cause to the anime on Saturdays.

Well there is much fail in the shows that are being aired.   Uwe Boll movie level of fail.

Yes. We always knew Bleach was gonna end. But will it end right away? No.

We'll probably have anime 2 least a few more years, which is about how long I expected it to continue.

Another Shounen will hit the air in Japan sooner or later, that you can bet and [as] will grab it.
They should get One Piece after/if Bleach truly is ending.

There's the new Hunter x Hunter. The original series never got it's due on US television but the new one could quite possibly air outside of the FUNimation Channel.

But if they want a show that could potentially sustain ASA for years it's One Piece.
