[adult swim] Philippines (and the rest of Asia)

Quite sometime ago, I remember reading up on [as]'s availability around the world. Apparently, the Philippines was the only country in Asia to have [adult swim]. But, it taken out of CN of Philippines around 2007 or 2008 (I forget); no reason stated why they removed it.

This brings up some questions:

-Why did Cartoon Network of Philippines remove [adult swim]

and

-Will there be a possbility of bringing [adult swim] (or it's shows) to Asia? (excluding India and Pakistan)

You'd have to ask Cartoon Network of Philippines about that.

And you would have to ask any country's cable providers I guess.

Adult Swim really has no say over what other countries' do.  It's licensed over there by country.

Are there many, if any, countries in the far east where English is the predominant language?

It kind of makes sense that Cartoon Network wouldn't be a top priority there. And of course there'd be the matter of Japanese people watching English-dubbed anime on [adult swim]. Which I guess would be kind of funny.

That's what Animax is for.

I think the whole reason of bringing AS to Asia is to expose the original shows, not the anime.

I too remember reading about AS being in the Philippines. It was pulled off at the beginning of 2008, along with Australia's version of the block. I think they were pulled because they wanted to focus on children being the main demographic of the or something.

I always wondered whether AS Philippines/Australia had the black and white bumps like we do, but youtube turned up nothing for me.

Also some fun facts about foreign Adult Swim blocks:

CN Philippines had the Simpsons on for a while (even though it didn't air in the AS block itself)

Russia has a channel called 2x2, that airs many AS shows in a block entitled "Adult Swim". They also took our idea of having those on air schedule images and drew on them too http://2x2tv.ru/blog/setka

That doesn't really address the language issue.

Animax already airs english dubbed anime in Japan and other places in Asia (It's their own, albeit pretty bad dubs). Plus the anime licensing woudn't quite work the same in places that the people [as] licenses to don't have licensing rights.

Pretty much most American distributors (all?) only license for the North American region, which is generally American and Canada, and maybe Mexico.

I wasn't really referring to anime. I was referring to original content.

I just don't think Turner would find it worth their time to broadcast a library of all-English programming (which is pretty obscure even here at home in the States) to a region of largely non-English-speaking countries.
