Either way, 1.5 million is a huge number. This bodes well.

Mmm, i can't tell either, I assumed it was just for 18-49. Congrats to Childrens Hospital and Adult Swim either way.

I bet it's total viewers.

After poking around, I found this page, which indicates that a 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49 is 1,315,000 viewers. Multiplying by 0.7 yields 920,500 viewers 18-49. ADSM is interested in 18-34s, and I imagine it probably drew greater than a 0.7 in that demo.

Total viewers seems way more likely. 

But thanks for that - I have very little idea of how ratings work. Adult Swim would probably mention something about the ratings in a bump soon.

wouldn't the 18-34 be included in the 18-49 numbers?

The 0.7 in the demo Adults 18-49 represents 0.7% of the total number of people in that demo with a television. It's called a ratings share.

I suspect that the percentage of 18-34s watching CH is greater than 0.7, just because that's the demo Adult Swim directly markets to.

Oh, and to my earlier hypothesizing guesstimating future-telling statement that CH would draw higher than a 0.7 in 18-34s, 574,000/686,600 is 0.84, which rounds to 0.8.

I think a Season 4 is all but guaranteed given Adult Swim executives obviously love this show.

Futurama only managed a 0.7 at 10PM. So CH isn't doing poorly at all. And the fact that it is #1 in its time slot is always good news. At this point I expect that season 4 is pretty much a given.

I love that Childrens Hospital is not only competing with Futurama even though it's airing in a much later slot, but also has more mass appeal than Futurama. I get that Childrens has less competition at midnight, but still, Futurama's a popular show. Getting comparable ratings is really good.

Also Childrens seems to be maintaining its ratings consistently throughout the season, which says a lot about the quality of the season as a whole, and the potential for a fourth season. Things are looking good.
