Schedule Tidbits

[ Edited ]

This is a new thread for general comedy schedule discussion, cheers and jeers, bickering, praise, hope, and disappointment.

New stuff effective the 22nd of June (but probably not for long):

NTSF:smileyfrustrated:D:smileyfrustrated:UV is still on track to premiere Thursday, July 21 at 12:15 ET right after Childrens Hospital, replacing Eagleheart, and continuing the trend of Live Action Premiere Thursdays. Repeats of NTSF air Sunday at 9:45, also replacing Eagleheart. I wish they could find a spot on the schedule for Eagleheart repeats, but alas that's not the case.

Look Around You and The Office are both slated for future DVR Theater appearances.

Click the spoiler bar for an archive of all previous updates:

It seems that The Oblongs returns at the beginning of every year.

I approve of it this time, though. Way better than throwing it on weeknights, where it gets run through 10-20 billion times and stops being funny.

Hardly seemed like The Venture Bros. had a chance to settle in at 9 p.m. Do they really think Baby Blues and The Oblongs will do better at that hour?

They better improve fast, adult swim can only stand to give out a two-three week run at a time.

I wonder if it has anything to do with putting a frequently TV-MA show at 9pm. Usually AS tries to avoid doing this, and it was kind of surprising that they scheduled VB for 9pm. Cable networks aren't bound by FCC's regulations, but a couple angry phone calls could probably get them to change their mind.

yeah imagine them getting into season 4 territory with all the homosexual characters

I'm not saying that kids shouldn't be exposed to it, more that it would seem to anger parents who just turn on the "cartoon network" for their kid and see VB with all of its violence and sexual humor, followed by dam Squidbillies on a sunday!

Wow....I mean, this is definitely a new generation of TV when this stuff is on what most elderly christian folks think of as a kids channel. Of course they'd pull out their ancient rotary phones and buzz the Laz-hole's ear of about it, but c'mon LAZINATOR who are really trying to market towards? Controversy would be good for this **grok** channel.

To be fair, all the elderly Christian folk are either in bed or watching The Cosby show on Nick at Nite (or whatever airs there), so they probably don't even know AS exists.

Well, I am saying their kids would be like crying or something and they turn on CN and see Dean punching out Hank's flaming crotch and go WTF?!

but I see what you're saying. And I agree, that's why they'd be so surprised.

It's not the elderly Christian folk I'm worried about, it's the suburban soccer moms who are aghast that animated programs could possibly have adult content.

My theory on them is that they're all secretly extremely perverted vilolent alchoholics that want to abolish anything that even remotely involves any of that so they don't surcome to their surpressed urges. It's the only way anything they do makes any sense. Plus you'd have to be pretty perverted to think that half the things they feel are overly sexual are even remotely sexy.

Well, while we're sharing theories.....

The kind of people I'm talking about are the ones that choose to live in the sprawly, cookie-cutter neighborhoods in fake dream houses that aren't built to last 25 years, paying to neighborhood associations for a false sense of security. They expect society to do their parenting for them, apparently ignoring the tools that already exist to protect children from overly violent or sexual content (like the V-chip and web filters), and instead raising a big ruckus about how their children are being exposed to such and such. They've discarded the realities of living on this planet and choose to live in some kind of fantasy utopian world where children raise themselves and crime doesn't exist.

I don't know whether it's a generational thing or just the start of a pattern, but it certainly disturbs me.

Let's combine those two theories into one super theory

Besides, they should've just kept Venture Bros and Squidbillies on - screw the ratings, I doubt anyone would care. And if they do, I doubt anyone would care that they care.

Some of this stuff is already known, but I didn't want to post an update before the big schedule grid was updated.

New stuff effective the 1st of March (but probably not for long):

Premieres for the impatient comedy fan:

  • Eagleheart continues its Thursday midnight premieres through March 31.  It will be 9 episodes into its run.
  • Robot Chicken's 10th episode of its 5th season airs March 6 at 11:45, then it takes a break.
  • Superjail's second season premieres Sunday, April 3 at midnight

DVR Theater for the insomniac comedy fan (or those with expensive cable subscriptions):

  • On March 7, Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost Coast to Coast begin.
    • OMG SPACE GHOST

Other changes/tidbits for the obsessive comedy fan:

  • On Monday, March 7 at 1 am, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job and Tom Goes to the Mayor play back to back.
  • Family Guy continues airing "Adult Swim World Premieres" every other Monday.

I don't know why Adult Swim didn't premiere the last 2 episodes of American dad "A Piñata Named Desire" and "Your Debt Your Life".

However, due to Adult Swim airing the series in production order, "A Piñata Named Desire" is airing on Thursday in the regular rotation (They must have really held on to the episode for a long time before airing it on Fox). "Your Debt Your Life" would air the next day in a regular rotation....but for some strange reason, Adult Swim is rolling back to episode 1 on Friday.

That's quite strange. And unfortunate, because I missed some of the American Dad episodes in the fall when they premiered, and I'm guessing they won't be airing them until the next runthrough.
