I killed them all and tricked the large skeletons into leaving backwards off the cliff. 500 souls a pop for the big skeletons.

I'm still in the Burg, but around what level should I head back down there?

Also, how did you trick the larger skeleton into commiting suicide?

Lead it so that your back is to a wall and its back is to a cliff. If you just stand there and block its attacks, parry them, or dodge them and occasionally swing. Every so often, he'll make a backwards jump. He'll actually leap right off of a cliff.

I'm roughly level 20. I'm in the the place where the basement key took me. The only "rare" equipment I have are the Dragon Sword and the Boar helm.

FYI - After the Bell Tower Gargoyles the order you are SUPPOSED to take is: Undead Burg, Sewers, and then Blight Town.

If I'm not mistaken, there is someone in Blight Town that eats your extra equipment for souls.

Edit: Correction. After ringing the second bell, King Frampt will appear at the Firelink Shrine. Talk to him enough and he'll eat your extra equipment and give you souls in return.

Ah, okay, that's simple enough.

I'm actually level 18, and I'm still bopping around in the Burg.  Maybe I will head back down to the Firelink Shrine and poke around at some of the areas I was lurking towards yesterday.

However, I may just stay here.  There seem to be some mini-bosses still lurking around.

It may be time to cash in before the servers shut down in 2012.

Also, it is totally awesome that there is an elevator that connects the Undead Parish to the Firelink Shrine.

Has anyone entered into any covenants?  After talking to Petrus of Thorolund I realized that he will let me in to a covenant, so I entered into the Way of White.  I really did it to learn miracles, because that's the only way he will teach me.  lol

Addition: For those who have fought the Belltower Gargoyles, did you know if you go in human form you can summon Solaire to help you?  :smileyhappy:

Have you killed Capra?

Haha, wow, first try this morning and he is dead. :smileyvery-happy: I guess playing this game while utterly exhausted is a bad idea. I had yo have ttied that stupid thing a half dozen times or more last night.

A.merchant in the sewar just told me divine weapons will keep the skeletons from getting back up.

Also, this guy has an awesome looking armor set you can buy, but the whole think is about 50K souls. :smileysad: He's also got the bottomless box for a thousand. Definitely bought that.

I used the butterfly soul to see if I would have enough souls to buy it... apparentl 1200 souls is a large amount in this game. :smileyindifferent:

My goodness, its dead. The Gaping Dragon gives you a whopping 25,000 souls when you kill it. I was very tempted to use those souls towards the spiffy armor, but decided to raise five of my stats instead... seemed like the smarter thing to do, no matter how awesome that armor is.

Plus you can probably get that armor for free somewhere down the line.

Maybe. Either that or it will be affordable later on cause right now you dont make a whole lot of souls.

Holy crap, Blighttown has tough enemies... I think this is what level five in Demon's Souls was supposed to be. :smileyvery-happy:

I think I'll go exploring somewhere else - like the rest of the sewers. I havent killed the giant rat yet.

By the way, anyone else find Dark Souls 50x harder...no, 1000x harder than Demon's Souls?

99% of the time im stuck as a zombie who cant summon anyone else.

Crazy

I actually find Dark Souls to be a complete joke compared to Demon's Souls. I've defeated most of the bosses within the first or second encounter. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a difficulty spike soon, but I've come to notice there's an obvious cheap strategy that can be utterly abused on all the bosses.

For example, the goatheaded guy at the bottom of the Undead Burg. I basically led him up the stairs, dropped down, and did a power attack while he recovered from his own jump back to the ground level. I led him back up, dropped down, and so on.

The hydras, too, were stupid-easy once you figured out something about it. They shoot water at you which does a ton of damage, but if you go into the lake (before the drop-off), you can cut off all the heads with a sword. They won't even actually hit you if you stand in the right spots, so you don't even need to block half the time.

And like I said in the thread, when I fought the boar, I led him into the fire and just jumped on top of him and OHK'd him. He was dead in five seconds. It took more time just to clear out all the undead guys and pulling them up to the second floor where the boar couldn't attack.

I don't get why you guys are relying so much on Fire Bombs. Most of the bosses so far have been really fricken easy compared to what was in Demon's Souls.

Really? I dunno, it just must be you man, cuz I find Demons Souls as easy as heck to play, and this game insanely annoying hard. But my health isnt the greatest right now, but still.

I've memorized all fights in demons souls, that half the time, I can walk in a boss fight because I know everything about the bosses im fighting.

but this game is waaay harder.

maybe youre just good dude cuz that hydra is crazy hard, but some of us are fighting naked without armor. oh yeah I started my game as a deprived, maybe thats why everything is so hard lol

Guess who got cursed and now has only half health with no way to get uncursed? This robot. :robotsad:

This game is going to be a lot harder with only half health for a while. If you go into the sewers BE VERY CAREFUL with those lizard things that spew gas at you. That's not poison and it's not a toxin. It's a curse cloud. The meter for it is very small so if you find yourself against a group of them... throw a bomb. It only takes me two hits with my sword to kill them, but the bomb is better because you can stay away from them.

On a positive note, though, I did get the helmet of that armor I want. That's really the niftiest part so I'm happy about that. Also, I released a guy in the sewer, the one behind the first butcher and he's now at Firelink too. He's a Pyromancer from the swamp. He gave me the ability to use pyromancy for releasing him. I am pretty darn happy about that. The spell I bough only has 8 uses, but I plan on soul farming for just a bit to upgrade my attunement slots so that I can have two fire spells... or afire spell and my soul arrow. Haven't decided which.

Firelink is starting to get a little crowded. :smileyvery-happy: The miracle guy's friends showed up too so there's a good chunk of people there.

And lastly, the guy in the gold armor, the one I swear is up to no good, is now talking about the Fire Keeper being useless. I don't think he can kill her, but... I'm reaaaaaally tempted to try and kill him before he does something to fuuuuuudge things up for me.

I can be honest, and say that it was partially luck and partially knowledge.  He was a cleric who liked to spam soul arrow and main hand the Estoc.  He kept trying to kite me into areas with active mobs (I didn't clear a certain portion of the map), but I wouldn't let him.  Long story short, he backstabbed me because I was hanging around a corner, thinking I would surprise him but he snuck up on me.  I ended up pressing him and making him use up his Soul Arrow spell.  With just a sliver of life I ran him down twice and backstabbed him to death.

So, I have learned the hard way that black phantoms can now actively interact with the map?  He managed to open up two drawbridges that I hadn't gotten to yet, just so he could sneak around the map to hunt me.  I don't think I like this, one bit.

I released our friend, Knight Lautrec of Carim, and couldn't help but to do a bit of digging regarding him.  It's spoiler-ish, and I know how you feel about those, but you may be interested in this information especially so if you want his armor.

Spoiler
He is going to kill her, and from there you can go on a side-quest to kill him and avenge her death.

And sweet Jebus, there is an easy place to get uncursed. I Googled it because there's no way in hell I'm playing this game with half HP. Apparently the merchant right at the beginning of the sewer sells the cure. THANK GOODNESS. When I play again tonight I'm healing myself and then farming souls on those stupid lizards.

Also, there's apparently a Dark Souls guide on Youtube [now that i look again, there's a bunch of em]. The video I watched was about the curse and getting the cure for it and the dude making the videos is pretty good. His video is really well done and he's not obnoxious. O.O

my only gripe with this game, is they should let us team up in zombie mode, its right now, annoying to live to your next soul, or 5k souls to buy humanity.

To be honest, aside from the decrepit look of the Undead, I don't mind being undead.  I like the online elements, but it gives me anxiety knowing that at any point someone can just start stalking me.  It also breaks the illusion of a single player story based game, for me.

If I had to find fault, I would say it's annoying that you can only kindle and summon (certain NPCs?) when you're in human form.
