I've really been thinking about the best ways possible to score some money with this game.

I think I'm just going to have minimal magic items myself and sell everything that is kind of powerfull/rare. hell if i remember regular diablo and diablo 2 you didn't even need good gear until the second to hardest hell anyway. 

and being the first one to sell rares while everyone else is wearing there's sounds like a good plan.

thats for multiplayer though, I'll probably do a single player run first, or atleast at the same time

There is no single player, it's always online. Also; the difficulty levels have changed dramatically since D2...which was essentially a joke after about level 80.

The best way to get good items is to have high magic find, and play with competent people who also have high MF because it's averaged amongst all players in your game.
