I'm not sure how long this is going to last, but the regular editions are on preorder sale from Toys R Us right now for $45 a piece.

I'm going to get the Collector's Edition so I'm not interested, but hopefully someone else can reap this deal.

Ugh, I still need to beat the first one.

I watched the trailer a couple of times on my PS3, though.  It looks nice.

Oh man that's a good deal. >_< But I'm on the fence with the Collector's Edition. I just want to know if it comes with the actual case for the game because I want to set it next to my FFXIII. =/

DragonBeard: Yeah it looks awesome. =)

And you still have time to beat the first! It's really fun.

Just found out there's going to be a Collector's Guide for this, too, just like the first one! >_< YES!

Did they learn nothing from the last sequel they did?

(honestly, though, I haven't even bothered. Besides the fact that I don't have a PS3, the series has just moved too far from what it was for me.)

Couldn't bring myself to beat Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 looks to be the same pile of feces XIII was, I'm not buying it.

This will be the first Final Fantasy game that I haven't bought on launch day since Final Fantasy 7 hit the market.

Same old suck and I've had enough from Final Fantasy, until SquareEnix realizes this isn't Final Fantasy, I won't buy another either.

Bought it out of morbid curiosity of "It can't be worse than XIII...right?"

I'm skeptical, cause I'd like to get this when it is a cheap price because I felt ripped off by FFXIII's lack of open world (aside from that barebones field with the ), but it appears that they tweaked up the game's engine so that it feels like what XIII should have been and made the maps even larger than the pretty hallways. Also with perfect scores from Famitsu & Dengeki, I'm tempted to go with the cheap preorder

Dear Square-Enix,

You should have scrapped XIII altogether and made something decent, now you're going back to it again. :smileyindifferent:
Keep up the um, good work?

I skipped out on XI, XII, and bought XIII.

Great decision I made there. :smileyindifferent:

I don't even count XI or XIV as actual games. FF stopped being an interesting series for me after FFX. I guess ten good games is enough.

Oh wow, someone who agrees with my FF sentiments. That's surprisingly hard to do since the FF series is so split on opinions (like this for example). But yes, ditto on X being the last good one (for now anyway, though I've lost most of my faith in Square-Enix sadly).

I also agree that the series stopped being interesting after FFX. I did buy X-2, but out of the $10 bin at a local Gamestop and well, I wasted $10 bucks for it.

Square needs to go back and realize what makes RPG's good and it's not all this Japanese pop, bright flashy graphics and crap characters.

I would find it nice if Square would make a true to earth Final Fantasy like they did in X or VII, hell at this point they need to take some pointers from Dragon Quest and make a good RPG again.

I can't believe Square made Xenogears looking back the downfall of Square was when they bought Enix.

I might buy Versus...if it ever comes out, that is. They probably realized they were actually making a decent RPG and dropped it to work on XIII-2.

At this point I don't trust SquareEnix to know how to make a RPG, I won't hold my breath hoping that Versus is a good game.

Ditto on the X sentiment. I bought X-2, along with a nice art book with a guide and everything, but that was back when I still had plenty of faith in the games. I might play it again, some day. Maybe.

XII is definitely what killed it for me, though. Had its good points, but not enough of them.

Personally, I feel the death of the series is due in large part to Uematsu no longer composing for them. His music made those worlds come alive.

I actually thought about getting this game but the story sounds like 10-2 and with the title being so similar that scares me greatly.

And where are the rest of the crew from the first game?

Now that everyone's on the hate train, I might as well take a stab at it and say that IX was the last good FF game. X had potential if Auron was the main character but Tidus was insufferable as was most of the cast aside from Lulu and maybe Khimari, and I could care less about the story aside from what happened to Jecht. Didn't play XI or XIV cause I don't dig on MMO grindfests. XII had potential too as the combat was interesting departure from the battle screens but the characters and story was terribly bland (aside from Balthier) and the supposed main character Vaan was reduced to a roadie as soon as Ashe popped up. XIII, I gave a chance as I could get into the story as bad as it was and I at least wanted to know about Sazh's situation, but I felt that the open world that was hyped up was just a vacant field full of dinosaurs and "make-your-own-fun" sidequests, and it didn't help that the pretty hallways wore me out by the time they raided the enemy's airship.

That being said, I found X to be a pretty good game. Tidus was annoying, yeah, but he wasn't too terribly bad. X also had a memorable cast that really stood out (Waka and his accent, Auron and his coolness, Lulu and her....boobs), and the game's art style and atmosphere mixing Japanese art and sci-fi with a sort of Caribbean mix was really endearing. Though annoying, the characters were pretty fleshed out, especially in regards to Auron, and were easy to warm up to by the half-way point. I thought the game was pleasantly introspective and meditative whenever Tidus' monologue kicked in (which they could have used more often), and some of the ideas that were played with in the plot regarding Yevon was some really great stuff. They could have done more with it, I think, but it was still very interesting.

The soundtrack is also really, really good. But this is just why I Iove X, and I can see why someone wouldn't be too terribly fond of it.

XII is definitely what killed it for me, though. Had its good points, but not enough of them.

Personally, I feel the death of the series is due in large part to Uematsu no longer composing for them. His music made those worlds come alive.

I loved Uematsu's work in the Final Fantasy games, his music was and is still so iconic to the franchise, but that being said I don't think his departure was what turned the franchise to crap.

Something is wrong with the developers at Square, some where along the line they decided this J-Pop bullsh!t and flamboyant characters with as much depth as a mud hole along with the whole on rail experience was just the thing a Final Fantasy needed.

I will say this, I feel the modern casual gamer is to blame for what FF-XIII is, people who want a true RPG experience like Demon Soul's and the older Final Fantasy games seem to be a dying breed, people want a game feed to them on a spoon instead of having to work in a RPG.

Speaking of the absence of Nobuo Uematsu, I bet everyone here would just eat up the new Chocobo theme
