Well, ranged attacks lock on; but you'd expect them to..

I didn't have too much trouble picking my melee combatants without lock off...a good action game really doesn't need it that badly...

And, for the most part, the combat feels fluid...like a good action game should be.

I have been playing the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur on my X-box and honestly it reminds me of Fable on steroids, crossed with Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance.

That was the first thing I thought of the game, will it be fun? It looks like from the demo, will I buy it? I'm not so sure, I kinda want Skyrim, but Kindoms of Amalur does look like it could be a very large and fufilling game to play.

Oh and to anyone who wants to get the demo off Live, when you download it you get a suit of armor for Shepard in Mass Effect 3 just for downloading it.

The non lock on system didn't bother me since I played alot of hack and slash style games. Ninja Gaiden is a lot harder to use combat than this game.

I just spent another 45 minutes playing through the demo again...looking at all the moves and spells in the 'moves' menu of the game and fooling around with crafting and the day/night cycle.

I am now TOTALLY excited for this game. I hope it does well so developers will make more games like this.

This could easily be my next fav. RPG next to skyrim unless the game ends up disappointingly short or something. Right now it looks promising.

I was listening to one of the podcast of Invinsible Walls on GT yesterday. Go to 19:00 - one of the devs for the game said over 200 hours...holy crap.

I wouldn't be surprised. There were quests everywhere, dungeons to explore, etc. in the demo. There are faction quests and multiple ways to do quests...it's very much like skyrim in that regard.

They have claimed there are like 200 hand crafted dungeons, just like Skyrim.

Came for the Mass Effect 3 content, stayed for the awesome demo.

Played through it twice now, once as a mage and once as a Rogue. Didn't really get into the warrior combat much, and the mage and rogue builds seemed to have more going on (At least in the demo). Kinda torn what I'll play when I play the full game.

I wanted to after playing the demo, but truth is I'm currently waiting for my job to go through.
After my first good pay check and if I have the ability to, I might just pick it up, but well too much stuff going on in my life to dedicated to games right now.

Wasn't originally going to get this game, but I enjoyed the demo quite a lot, so I went ahead and ordered it yesterday.

I also got my tax refund, so there's money to waste. Should be getting it in the mail tomorrow.

Strangely enough it came in the mail today.

Made a dark elf dude, probably going the route of stealth building on archery and daggers. Really digging this game's atmosphere. Reminds me a lot of my time playing WoW. I just wish there was some kind of multiplayer involved, like Fable 3 style. Otherwise I'm just not sure I have the time (and patience) to sink another 100+ hours in another single-player RPG after Skyrim.

The main story is worth doing...as are some of the faction quests.

Everything else is a bit monotonous. Far too many fetch quests, etc...the game would have had far more lasting value for me if there were less fetch quests and more substantial story driven quests.

That's really my only gripe with the game; that the misc. quests aren't that great. Everything else is quite good.

My only gripe is that you can't adjust the camera. It's like I'm playing Dragon Age Origins again and you're stuck staring at your character's back the entire game. Which, I guess it's not that big of a deal but there's a reason I bought the game on Steam and never play it on Xbox anymore. Well that and the space bar being easier to pause-and-play. Anyway.

I'm actually REALLY liking this game. I thought I'd be bored of open-world RPGs, but this is really different from Skyrim in a lot of ways. I could really see myself splitting time between this and Skyrim for most of the time into the summer now, at least taking a break to play Mass Effect 3. You mention the side quests, finding them tedious. I guess so, but that's pretty standard fare for this type of game. At least it's not reductive to just "Give me ten bear pelts." The point is to get you to explore different areas of the map, and I think it's relatively effective.

I chose to play the game on Hard difficulty because everyone said how easy it is. I find this to be an appropriate level to play the game, as I've found myself (at least playing as a finesse character) backed into the wall a few times, especially by how powerful those kobolds were relative to your level at the beginning of the game. The combat system is especially fun. It is a "lock-on" mechanic but you're relatively free to switch and attack different targets as you like. Feels more like something inspired by God of War instead of Fable-esque.

I do find myself drawing a lot of comparisons to other games, which really shows how generic the game is. But open-world games are played for a particular reason, and I am enjoying the environments and dungeons thus far. I can see myself sinking a lot of hours into this game, and keeping Skyrim in the box to help it stay fresh until Borderlands 2 comes out later this year. Cool.

Also, looks like you get a set of armor for playing the Mass Effect 3 demo, but it's for might-based characters. I'm really enjoying the dagger/bow combination right now, and I likely won't switch until way later in the game, so I'm probably just going to sell this stuff.

I'm kind of surprised more people aren't playing this, though I guess with Mass Effect 3 coming out in a couple weeks not that many people are going to throw down and buy it.

Just received a house in Canneroc (in the Webwood) which has a stash in it ... but only after I sold several unique items that were parts of sets, including all of the Shepard armor.

At least you can buyback from vendors, I guess.

ME3 is currently what I am saving my limited game funds for.
Especially since I already have Skyrim to play.
Would I like to have Kingdoms of Amalur? Yeah absolutely.

It steals from alot more than Elderscrolls.

It also takes from King Arthur The Wargame, and quite a bit of others. Even Ego Draconis probably.

This was a game where I actually just didn't want to finish and just googled the ending.... a giant talking super dragon.

Yep..........

Was pretty entertaining at first. Also, anyone got the Fable vibe from it? I did.
