Lollipop Chainsaw

[ Edited ]

Suda 51's new game.  360/PS3.

screens and info.

suda mentioned wanting to have a "pop" vibe to the game, as you are playing as a cheerleader. you play as Juliet Sterling, a cheerleader with a pink chainsaw taking down zombies at her high school. main difference is that instead of blood and guts flying out, there's hearts and pink sparkles. akira yamaoka (the composer for the game) is said to be working on pop-y music tracks for the game.

any thoughts? day one for me. i am in the target demographic for this game.

Big fan of Killer7 & NMH, and enjoyed Shadows of the Damned so this'll definitely be a day one purchase

Looks like a rent (and zombie games get watered down some more).

You are neither cold nor hot. So because you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth.

If Zombies are a fad than how has capcom made a fortune off of them for the past 20 years?

It's obviously in reference to the amount of zombie games/franchises this generation; Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Dead Island, Call of Duty Zombies etc etc.

It's like saying that 3D currently isn't a fad just because they had 3D before most of use were even born.

Through the past week, it's been announced that not only will the game get some writing help from James Gunn (the guy who wrote/directed Slither, Tromeo & Juliet, and Super), but Warner Bros. Interactive has signed on to release it over here.

Yup, seems that Tara Strong is doing the voice of Juliet (she was also the awesome KAEDE Smith from Killer7 and Cloe & Margaret from No More Heroes 2, so she's  somewhat of a regular in Suda51 games like Steven Blum, Cam Clarke, and Robin Atkin Downes). There's also hint that a regular from James Gunn (writer/director of Slither who will be co-writing the game) will appear in the game, though whether that's Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, both, or someone obscure is up for debate.

It's Suda 51.

I don't think anything he puts out counts as "watered down". Usually, just weird.

Gameplay footage is now out, and it's looking to be a fun combination of Bayonetta's style and combat & Dead Rising's emphasis on protecting survivors from zombies, as well as upholds to its bubbly aesthetics with hearts, stars, sparkles, and red & pink blood with every whack from the chainsaw. I'm wondering if they're still going to do the sound-based part of the gameplay that Suda previously mentioned.

If you're preordering you get some pretty nifty incentives with some outfits to kill zombies while wearing.

At Gamestop (where I've got my preorder at), you get outfits modeled after Ash from Evil Dead and Jimmy Urine from the band Mindless Self Indulgence (who is also helping compose some of the songs and voices Zed, the boss who attacks with swearing). Meanwhile, Amazon buyers can get the Rockabilly outfit, and Best Buy preorders can net you a Goth and Foxy Brown outfit
