I didn't say anything about money or Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. You brought it up. Yah, you get what you pay for and I'm not disputing it.

Coming here and discussing games isn't the same thing as talking to someone while playing a game. I can come here and post my experiences without interruption. If I were too do it while playing a game, it'll take me forever. It's like talking on a phone with someone who's really involved in their game to notice they're still on the phone. If you had two people playing different games, I imagine the conversations ( if there are any ) wouldn't be very exciting. The reason I question it is because I think it's a gimmick. I think Kinect is a gimmick as well.

I'm not questioning why you do it. I'm asking why would anyone.

Personally, I can't stand it when someone is in the room talking to me, let alone some lonely 26 year old with peter pan syndrome and a sqeaky voice boasting how he owned me that one time in 2010. That's what I like about PSN. Yah, I can mute #### on Xbox Live but I'll be spending my entire night doing it. It's only fun for a little while.

One thing you need to realize is that all this is an opinion. No need for "hands down" statements, because only you are making those.

Just as you, I've used both consoles plenty, for gaming, not just watching hockey. And ps3, when it comes to what both systems were built for, owns. And what's with this "interface" talk? The XMB? How user friendly it is? Options? Or is it again how not laggy your hockey games are?

PS3 owns 360 in hardware, software, "interface" and all other junk, you mention "Period".

For you, maybe. To me, it sounds more gimmicky than anything.

I mean, I'm not gonna say that PSN is overall better than XBL, but having used both regularly, I'd say that calling the latter vastly superior to the former is just a big exaggeration.

@EvilSerge: Hardware, yes, but although my knowledge on either system's software is limited, I'd have to give it to the 360. Interface, the PS3 is more streamlined, but the 360's is hardly bad; I think that would ultimately boil down to personal preference.

you and evilserge are both wrong when it comes to hardware.
between the 2 systems, the xbox is actually a little bit better hardware wise.
both of them have identical video cards but the big limiting factor is the shared ram of the ps3 system. when it comes to cpu the ps3 wins in performance but as we all know, it is the gpu that does most the work.

The PS3 may or may not have been built to be just a video game console, but the evolution of the internet just made it more than that. Maybe you don't have Netflix or Hulu Plus, or have any internet sports streaming packages. But a lot of us do, and a lot of us spend just as much time watching Netflix as we do playing video games on our video game consoles. So yes, believe it or not, when I own both consoles, I actually prefer to use the one that has a better interface. This isn't a matter of opinion. MLB.TV simply runs better on Xbox Live, and I can watch two games at once. You simply cannot do that on the PS3.

Maybe this doesn't matter to you. That's fine. I'm sure it doesn't matter to a lot of people. As you and my good old, dearest friend doesn't understand, however, is that I'm just saying my own specific reasons as to why I will likely not be purchasing a Playstation 4. Not why no one should. Why I won't. Because I don't use my consoles just as video game platforms anymore. A couple exclusives---who cares? I bought my PS3 years ago and there still isn't even a mention of a tentative release date for FF Versus XIII. And after the debacle over FFXIII-2, I'm not sure I even should care.

Mouthing off over the pointlessness of Xbox Live party chat---I don't much see the point in that either. Me and millions of other gamers love the inclusion, and it makes a world of difference for us. If you don't care, that's fine. But it matters to me. And the PS3 doesn't have it. And until it does, it's a world of difference behind the Xbox 360. Plain and simple. It'd be like if Ventrilo never existed on PC gaming.

I only use my PS3 now to watch hockey games and Blu-ray discs; just the same as millions of other people that own both a PS3 and an Xbox 360, who have little reason to turn the damned thing on anymore.

I still use my PC all the time, primarily to play Sim City 4 and Dragon Age: Origins. I don't see why you can't play both. There are plenty of great games out there like Dark Souls that aren't on it.

And how the hell can you play Sim City?

I played the last one and decided facistsque city and the game punished me for it. I didn't win a lot of trophies because no-one was happy. They weren't suppose to be happy. The Nazi came to town.

I like to play the Fables and Skyrim on my PC. I can't imagine playing those type of games on a console.

You can't imagine playing a game like Fable that was originally a console game ... on the console it was originally made for?

And Skyrim was developed from the ground up to be playable with a controller just as easily as it is with a keyboard and mouse. It's why they swapped the hot key system with the "Favorites" menu. It's why the menu system can be traversed by just pushing different directions. They found out most people that played on consoles also used third-person view frequently. And guess what? They made the third-person animations much more fluid to satisfy that desire. With what limited time I did play it on a computer, I have to say I actually felt like the game's interface worked more naturally with a controller than a keyboard. But that's just me.

I played both Oblivion and Morrowind on the PC, but I got Skyrim for the Xbox 360. I don't much see a problem with playing it on the platform either. It's not like in Oblivion where there's some major graphical difference. A friend of mine owns a beefcake computer that runs the game at max settings. And believe it or not, it's not really that different in quality. The biggest difference is just a higher framerate.

The only major difference I guess is if you downloaded a ton of mods that made higher res textures, but I don't really care about that sort of thing. I've been playing Morrowind off and on for over ten years now and the only mod I ever used frequently is the one that takes cliff racers out of the game. And after hearing all the patching and graphical problems over Fallout 3, I never even bought a PC version for it. I still play it and New Vegas exclusively on the Xbox 360.

I used to be a hardcore PC person over Bethesda games, but these days I don't much see the point. I might get Skyrim for the computer once I build a new tower, but it'd only be to mess around with goofy mods. There was a day when I would only play certain games on the PC like Elder Scrolls, Half-Life, and Deus Ex because it felt "wrong" to buy console versions. With the way the market is trending, where DX3 was built more with consoles in mind than PC controls, I think you're fooling yourself in thinking that the PC industry still matters. Huge PC developers like Valve, Bethesda, and BioWare... they don't really much focus on the platform anymore. There's rumors going around that Blizzard is thinking about porting Diablo 3 on the Xbox after the PC release this May.

It's kind of sad, really.

Re: Rumors about Sony's PS4.

I like to play Bethesda games on PC. I'm far more comfortable using my keyboard. My hands are small and it feels awkward to use the 360 controller and I just hate spending long amounts of time on my PS3. It's just my personal preference. I'm waaaaaay better at Skyrim on PC than on 360. I guess I could learn to be better on 360, but I don't wanna.

The only game I can compare between console and PC is Assassin's Creed. I have it for 360, PS3, and PC. It's #### beautiful on PC and it didn't have too many glitches if any (never ran into one). My biggest problem on console was I sometimes couldn't attack when I wanted to. I would have to run away and try again before Altair would straighten up and fly right. Then there was the occasionally falling into buildings for what felt like minutes and dying. When I finally get to the target I'm suppose to kill, guards pop out of no where before my eyes and murder the #### out of me, because I couldn't defend myself. On console I spent most of the game running away than anything else.

The reason I bother with consoles is PC gaming is becoming a nightmare. I have three PCs. Two are gaming PCs and the one I'm using is for internet, but it has games also. The two gaming PCs aren't hooked up to the internet ( because that's how I want it ) and I think it's really un-####-fair that when I buy a game like Fallout 3 or Left 4 Dead 2, I have to have internet access and a Steam account before I can #### play it. If I pay $60 for a game, I should be able to play it when I install it. No-one should jump through hoops to play a game they bought. Why should anyone have to waste their time so the manufacture knows it's legit? If consoles take this route, I will not buy another game for the rest of my life.

I want to get Diablo 3, but I haven't played the first two.

You don't necessarily have to be connected to the internet to play games purchased through Steam. You simply have to configure games to be ran in offline mode while still connected to the internet. I generally do this right after I purchase and install it. From that point forward you can run Steam and any of your configured games in offline mode if for some reason you don't have access to the internet. If I'm going on a long trip, I always double-check everything works right by just shutting off the wireless and testing it before I leave home.

Origin actually allows you to play games in offline mode without any configuration necessary. I never had to fiddle with anything to play Dragon Age when I'm not connected to the internet.

If those rumors are true, just based on the used games being locked out, Sony can eat sh!t next generation and if Microsoft does the same thing, guess I will be playing a Nintendo again.

What reason does anyone have other than blind fanboyism to buy a PS3 if it's like those rumors say it will be?

None that's what.

Just as millions of 360 owners, millions of PS3 owners don't really care about party chats. Do you really think Sony couldn't have released party chat for PS3 by now?... Of course they could.

We've been over this before, it's a matter of choice and preference. I don't even own a 360 because I'd have absolutely no use for it, and if a loyal 360 owner such as you can find use for a PS3, then there is something better about it.

I use other things on my PS3, but merely as an add-on, and not the main reason for owning it.

I use Netflix, and Hulu, and MusicUnlimited and basically every app they got (except sport apps). Yes, they do have their flaws, but is it the PS3's fault? Netflix #### on the PS3, browsing is stupid, searching is dumb, and it has nothing to do with the PS3. Netflix built the program that way and shoved it in the PS3.

Just as Skyrim being broken on the PS3, is it the consoles fault? Hells no. So interface of individual software and apps has nothing to do with the way the console works.

Skyrim wasn't the only game broken on the PS3, I have a collectors edition of Fallout New Vegas with so many glitches in it compared to the 360 version you want to take it out and use it for target practice.

Is it both Bethesda and Obsidians fault those games don't run right on the PS3?
