Companions do die permanently in this game.

I was wondering.
so far I only have the two possible ones from the start, I'm sure you know who they are. I guess I'm lucky the first didn't die in the first big fight.

I've gotten stuck in the environment a few times and had monsters that I should of been able to outrun kill me. thats really the only gripe I have about this game, you can get stuck some places. it happened in one of the big fights in the ruins.
most of my deaths are me running and jumping from high hrothgar.

ya, they could of done a lot with it. they could of just put it all in the same skill named athletics and have a bunch of perk tree's. if it was talent point allocation they where worried about, I would of much rather had that than the merchant one.
I'm sure there will be some nice mods though

speaking of mods, there is allreaddy a REALLY good one, just improves fps
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4
it actually reduces the size of most textures by half without loosing quality, so those playing with a slightly older rig might really like that one.

It's kind of lame that they removed athletics/acrobatics from the game.
Really? It was the most arbitrary skill ever and it levelled up automatically for any character...do you think it really deserves it's own perk tree?

My character is a werewolf now, which I would rather be specially if vampires are what they were in oblivion.

I've been trying my damnedest to figure out how to get shadows to look better. they are kind of jagged in the pc port because of the resolution difference.
the best I can tell is to change some ini settings. I've atleast got rid of the shuddering/chainsaw effect and have a remarkable improvement on the blackness of shadows. I think at this point it's a programming/driver issue that will have to be addressed by them directly. the bad part is I can completely get rid of the blockeyness outside with no fps hit(even faught a dragon like that with no fps hit) but inside taverns and houses and just generally inside anywhere fps drags to about 5 fps
anyway, you can go in your ini file and change iShadowMapResolution to about 6000 for me and you get a good mix, anything above that and it starts stuttering bad inside buildings. gonna try to reduce the amount of shadows inside buildings and see if that helps. 8192 is the number to get rid of all blockyness.
