Albums you're looking forward to in 2012

So far: New Orange Goblin album

I have also heard a few things about a new Om album, and with Om being one of my favorite bands I'm really hoping it's true.

What are you looking forward to?

Three albums that were supposed to be released this year but hopefully will be released next year:

-An album by The Avalanches. After ten years they finally get around to making an album, and then they get distracted with dissing Bon Iver. Come on guys.

-One by Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears. Mad Valentines was a good EP and I think that he's finally hitting his stride.

-The Outkast Album. I understand the excuse for not having this one done: Big Boi's in jail. But still. It needs to be completed.

I shot an arrow toward the sky...

Is it weird to be excited about the new No Doubt album?

There's also new Passion Pit, and new Apollo 440, and new Sigur Ros, and new The Shins...

I sort of lost all faith in BHS after Weird Revolution, to be brutally honest. HDLSD was a good comp. of old stuff, at least.

They are working on an album, and planning on releasing it sometime in 2012. Though it will probably be late 2012 since Nergal finished recovering from Leukemia just over half a year ago.

I used to have 500 cds now i have none,
but when it comes to vinyl, my Fugazi weighs a ton...

Yea I was shocked about the leukemia thing, my grandmother died of that. However long it takes, I don't care. They're the reigning kings of death metal for me right now.

their first four albums & humpty dumpty lsd (as well as the various eps from the 80s) are the only good things they've done to me. IWS was decent but everything after was absolutely dreadful. weird revolution is one of the worst things i've heard.

on an semi unrelated note it was cool to see gibby hanes on delocated

The next Nile album, another Seventh Void album, another A Pale Horse Named Death album, another Fear Factory album, Buckethead's next 14 albums...

It would be great if Baroness released another album.
I'd like to hear another Metallica album that's actually a Metallica album.
Maybe the new Black Sabbath album will be out in '12?
Definitely gotta see them on tour.

I've also read that there's another Alice in Chains album in the works as well as another Tool album.
Some other mentions: Drudkh, a live album from Death, an Oomph! album, Cannibal Corpse, Ministry, Slayer, Ahab, Down (hopefully better than their last album), Kreator, Nine Inch Nails (hope they tour), Dreaming Dead.

I also heard that Type O Negative has resurrected the zombie of Peter Steele and are going to start working on another album after they figure out a way to keep his d*ck from falling off.
Not really... Sure wish those guys were still around, though.
More than any other band.

As of right now, I'm really anticipating Sleigh Bells' Reign of Terror and of Montreal's Paralytic Stalks.
The original and best.

The Maccabees' new album, which comes out soon after the new year, is starting to sound good.  Also looking forward to Alcest, Shigeto, Eight and a Half, Memoryhouse, Hot Water Music, and Converge just to name a handful.

I've heard that Muse is coming out with an album later this year.  It should be pretty cool, but the last single they put out "Neutron Star Collision" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTvgnYGu9bg is some cause for concern over the direction they are taking.

To be fair, that song was made for the Twilight Soundtrack, so it's not even really their direction. They were probably paid a lot of money to make a song that fit a certain scene. I don't know, I've never actually seen Twilight, so I'm not sure how the song was used.

Lamb of God are coming out with a new album, "Resolution" today-ish.

Meshuggah are going to be releasing "Colossus" in late March.

Gojira are slated to release a new album this year with Roadrunner, and there's still the long-awaited Sea Shepherd EP.

I'm fairly certain Porcupine Tree are releasing a new album this year.

Alice in Chains are also likely to release one this year.

Lots of good stuff coming up.

Well, Bleubird's Cannonball has been released so I have nothing left to really anticipate, although I guess the new Victor Villareal solo album comes out this year and I'm sure Tim Kinsella will have something for me.

Cannonball was interesting, I definitely appreciate the fact that Bleubird will try several different approaches and a few of it's tracks will be definite must haves for further best of Bleubird mixes, but it certainly isn't my favorite Bleubird solo album, and will never come close to Prinzenallee or Les Swashbuckling Napoleans.

I cannot express enough to anyone that likes Astronautalis or Radical Faces/Electric President that you should hear this album.  The production is so obviously the two of them that I almost feel like at times this should have been a group album and had a few more vocals from the two of them.
