it does, but it is kind of advanced and some people, no matter how long they have played simply can't do it.
with more advanced stuff (like solo/guitar 1 etc....) you learn that when you can bridge it is best to bridge with 1(usually) index finger simply because the progression demands it.
watch soloists and you will see them do this a lot. they will move up and down the fret board without really moving their index finger.
After four years of playing I'm finally getting okay at doing that. I know it doesn't take some people that long, but my hand was like "WHAT AREYOU DOING LOL" for awhile
