If you had one, what was your favorite song today?

What song did you listen to multiple times.... or just enjoy the MOST today?

My favorite today was probably Belly - Sad Dress (sadly, the youtube audio doesn't quite do those melodic geetar parts justice IMO).

Check my wantlist! I am not looking to make trades from my collection, but I am happy to swap tapes of anything in my collection for (almost) anything in my wantlist. Get in touch!

This is, quite possibly, the first MM song I've ever heard.

I have to admit, I have been a bit wary of them due to the fanatacism of some people regarding this band (it's comparable to brohams and their love of the Dave Matthews Band, and I hate the Dave Matthews Band... THE 90'S ARE OVER, GOD DAMMIT)!

But this really wasn't bad...

Hard to say. Either "Tell Me What You See" by The Beatles, "Whiskey In The Jar" by Metallica or "Happy Family" by King Crimson. Probably either the first or second one.

MORE stuff I've never heard before... This is great... like The Dickies meets the Rotters or some other "rude" Punk music, but rawer... Very nice.

it's weird, it's the only r&b i've ever really enjoyed thoroughly. dude's got style.

i think today's song (since it is a new day technically) will be grails - "stoned at the taj again"

so grails has gotten better and better with each release. they keep finding a more droney, ambient sound, falling away from the nearly generic postrock sound they started with. it's quite beautiful. this album is too good not to own.

Hmmmm... I think it's at least worth downloading to decide if you like it.

I believe most of the songs from "Star" ar eon YT, actually.

I guess, for stuff similar to "Sad Dress" on the same album, I'd recommend these:

It's true, there is sort of an inescapable, cheesy "early 90's Alterna-Rock" sound in a lot of Belly's music.

It's hard to imagine them existing at any other time besides 1994, really, but I guess maybe that's part of why I like them.............. Nostalgia?

The first time I heard them was in The Doom Generation, the same movie from which I discovered Slowdive.

As cheesy as the movie is, I still can't hate it... It's so willfully absurd, nihilistic, and borderline moronic, but in a way that I can still appreciate because it doesn't take itself seriously.

BTW, the "Feed The Tree" music video is really kind of funny for this reason... It's full of so many 90's music video cliches that it's almost groan-worthy. :smileyvery-happy:

I'm listening now.... yep, another one I've never listened to!

It's not bad so far... but then I'm hardly even into the first 3rd of the song.

The end actually reminded me of Swans or something. Maybe it has a lot to do with me being really tired and needing to go to bed, though!

Haven't heard enough to get a good feel for it (much less listen to it closely enough), but it makes me want to listen to this now.

I was listening to this album, Spare A** Annie And Other Tales, which features William S. Burroughs reading various works with backing music by Disposeable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, all day the day before yesterday, and I'm still enjoying it, especially the "title" track.

I mean, I can certainly understand why people might be turned off by it or think it's just plain cheesy or "offensive to WSB's legacy" or some nonsense, but I f**king love this album... The fact that WSB has backing music just adds a whole new dimension of bizarre, tongue-in-cheek humor to his writing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQKFCfeZzjQ

I love the guitar/horn samples used here... they make the words seem that much more "slinky", alien, and bizarre to me... So groooooovy, yet so grotesque!

I think you would appreciate that whole Why? album... you may not like every song, but the style and feel of that album isn't anything like his others (it captures the qualities of Why? that I've come to work into my own make believe song writing) but you would definitely like Q and Not U, that song is the first (and probably best) song from their second album, but if I were you, I'd check out the first album, No Kill No Beep Beep... especially the song Nine Things Everybody Knows...

Anyways, on to today...

I found it on one of the Killed By Death comps, Vol 2 I believe?  There is also a pretty good Reatards cover:
