My band, from fragile seeds, check it out

We've got an experimental rock sound. A fusion of ambience and post-rock with that alternative/ post-hardcore sound. Lots of wall of sound type stuff. We just self-recorded a three song EP and had it mastered by Gregory Dunn of Moving Mountains. Just trying to get our name out there, so give the EP a listen, and if you're feeling it, like our page and tell your friends. Thanks!

Sorry, but I refuse to listen to anyones band that creates a thread just to say listen to my band, there are at least two threads for all board artists to share their work...

I understand you gotta pimp yourself, but this isn't the proper way.

An Ecclectic Mix
A (Mostly) Underground Hip Hop Mix
I made these as a better way to explain to people what kind of music I like but I suppose you could use LastFM if you wanted to cheapen it.
When I make music... my mission statement is to be the Tim Kinsella of Hip Hop, the Al Burian of Singer/Songwriters, and the Dose One of punk rock!
I used to have 500 cds now i have none,
but when it comes to vinyl, my Fugazi weighs a ton...

now there's at least three threads. That is honestly a pretty stupid way of thinking. It's a public forum. There's no rule book on making threads of this sort. Who are you to tell me I am doing it wrong? Don't worry, man. No band needs a fan like you.

Whoever is on vocals is really bad... They remind me on Papa Roach, but more sad and whiny.

You are right, there is no rule... but the music board is more or less it's own community... you don't participate in other conversations but you want to clog up this board for the people that do???  That's not very nice... maybe if you discussed music previously and after people recognized your name around here it would be different,  but the music board isn't here for random people to drop in and pimp themselves... we don'tr get enough activity as it is, so it's incredibly LAME when there is a new thread and it's just self promotion.

That is precisely the point, if you can't read others posts and participate in this board, we don't want to hear your crappy band.

Do you see my register date? Do you see my post count? Do you think this is my first account? Do you think this is the only forum I've ever used? Stop being a f*cking moron. Get your head out of your ass, and quit being a self-righteous pr*ck. It's users like you that remind why it is I stopped posting here in the first place.

Umm, I'm being completely reasonable... you are the one who is resorting to name calling and other childish antics...

I bet all of the Likes they got on Facebook were all from spamming forum after forum with links to their page.

In real life nobody likes this band.

How could you?

Singer has no feeling.

Drums sound like sh*t.

They feel the need to validate themselves by posting on an online message board.

The only thing this band has going for it is the bassist. He seems like he actually possesses talent. He should pack up and move on from this trainwreck as quickly as possible if you ask me.

Funniest part is that since we've released this EP, we've been offered headliner spots in town. Given... these shows are nothing spectacular, but we're getting paid to play our music which feels really good. We've made money off the EP itself too. We set up a pay what you want thing. It was actually surprising how much we made considering how we spent almost no money to produce it and we did everything within the span of two months or so. So to make any money on it was awesome. Some of the purchases were from random people in other countries that none of us know. It's really kind of cool. We're using the money to buy orselves better equipment so that we can produce a better product for our fans.

Thanks for your opinion. I realize that the way you're expressing it with such fervor and disdain is probably mostly due to you feeling some kind of annoyance by my confidence and how I'm dealing with PostModern. I wouldn't be surprised in any way if there was a glint of jealousy there as well. But that's to be expected in a place like this.

I don't mind if you don't like the music, but I'm not basing how I feel about what we're doing on your opinion. Just so you know. We are very cognizant of the fact that people out there are enjoying our music. People we haven't talked to, or forced it upon in any way. This is a promotional technique. The internet is a powerful tool, and it doesn't matter that you're being a jackass, because at the end of the day, if we even get one person out there paying attention to our music because I posted this thread, we are doing great. It really doesn't bother us that you don't enjoy the music, because that is to be expected. But because of people like you, we work harder and we get stronger because of it.

Which brings me to this; to anyone seeing this atrocity of a thread (due to the asshats that plague this forum) I want to apologize for the distraction, and I want to thank you for giving my band's music a chance (that includes you, BackupAlt). From all of us, we really do appreciate any time you're willing to give us. In a world that is so flooded with amateur artists, it's hard to stand out, and that's why we are asking for your support. Again, I send you my deepest gratitude for your time and if you end up following our music, we look forward to sharing our progress with you and we hope you enjoy what we plan to show you in the future.

OK, let me try to figure this out...

Someone bashes your band heavily and you thank them for it...

I just ask you to follow the unwritten rule of the music board and I get called a hail storm of names?

Umm, I really can't figure this out?

Also, I would like to elaborate... I am not the vocalist. I am the drummer.

As far as the recording of the drums, I am not exactly happy with them myself. First of all, we rushed a lot of the recording process because we set up a deadline for ourselves, which was a huge mistake. In my opinion, the worst part about the recording is the snare drum. I was using a crappy drum at the time. I've since purchased a Mapex Black Panther Cherry Bomb. The sound this drum produces is a world of difference from the one I used to record in the EP. Also, our recording technique was poor. We were using a mix match of mics we had available to us. Since then, I've aquired a set of AKG drum mics. matching overheads (lol), a real kick drum mic and proper drum mics. We were just using SM57s. Which, while not terrible, isn't ideal. So anyway, we recognize that this recording effort wasn't a perfect product, but it was a learning experience for us, and most importantly we have a product we can show to promoters and venues. So far, it's working...

I would have to say, all in all, this product while nowhere near perfect, has a great deal of quality above most band's first recordings, especially when they do it themselves.

Next time, we plan on giving ourselves the time we need to do things right instead of slighting ourselves with deadlines. That really was a huge mistake. But again, for what it's worth, the product so far has given people something to take home and appreciate, which was the real goal.

I thanked him for listening. And I mean that wholeheartedly.

First of all, PostModern... hyperbole much? A Hailstorm of names? I did not insult you once in my first response to you. After that all I said was, "I hope you didn't expect me to read any of that." Furthermore, who died and made you responsible for dictating "unwritten rules of the music board"?! Seriously? Why do you even need to bring it up? I'm going to say it again, I've been using forums since I was a kid. I know how they work. There is no stickied "rule book" in this folder, and if there was, and there were written rules explaining the etiquette for band self promotion, I would have followed it. Does that make you feel any better? Can we move along now. Thanks anyway for totally derailing my thread, though. I mean really... you're one to talk about posting etiquette. How about, stay on topic?

Did you do all the recording yourself? 'Cause this is pretty well done. Do you guys have a facebook page or a website?

Edit: nvm I found it. I'll definitely spread the word about you guys, and if you're ever in Richmond, VA and you're looking for a show, let us know... we'll set something up!
