Also, I would like to elaborate... I am not the vocalist. I am the drummer.
As far as the recording of the drums, I am not exactly happy with them myself. First of all, we rushed a lot of the recording process because we set up a deadline for ourselves, which was a huge mistake. In my opinion, the worst part about the recording is the snare drum. I was using a crappy drum at the time. I've since purchased a Mapex Black Panther Cherry Bomb. The sound this drum produces is a world of difference from the one I used to record in the EP. Also, our recording technique was poor. We were using a mix match of mics we had available to us. Since then, I've aquired a set of AKG drum mics. matching overheads (lol), a real kick drum mic and proper drum mics. We were just using SM57s. Which, while not terrible, isn't ideal. So anyway, we recognize that this recording effort wasn't a perfect product, but it was a learning experience for us, and most importantly we have a product we can show to promoters and venues. So far, it's working...
I would have to say, all in all, this product while nowhere near perfect, has a great deal of quality above most band's first recordings, especially when they do it themselves.
Next time, we plan on giving ourselves the time we need to do things right instead of slighting ourselves with deadlines. That really was a huge mistake. But again, for what it's worth, the product so far has given people something to take home and appreciate, which was the real goal.
