The Hip-Hop & R&B Thread Part IV

This is the 4th version of the Hip Hop & R&B thread. If you don't like these genres please do us the favor of not posting in here. But if you do like these genres your welcome to stay just be wary of CaptainSaveAHoe and his alter ego Slyfoxx2.

be wary of me? come on. when's the last time i gave anyone hell in here? anyway, to answer your questions from the other thread, i really can't say much about the new portishead. i have it, but i haven't listened to it much. it just sorta got lost in my library because some other albums have really held my attention like the raphael saadiq album and the roots manuva album. that should answer your other question, too. slime and reason has been in heavy rotation. not gonna go as far as saying that it's his best, but i definitely suggest listening to it.

could be old age. i initially blamed marijuana, but i haven't smoked in ages. i don't know if that still holds up. if my vols keep losing, i may be more irritable, though.

I think I'm insulted that I got no mention in the opening post. All must beware the power of the hater.

You should definitely make some attempt at getting that Raphael Saadiq album. I liked it so much that I went out and bought it despite already having it. That's, like, a ringing endorsement or some ** quack ** like that.

I stumbled upon this while looking for a new ringtone today.  Everything I've seen said it's been posted since the beginning of the month but it's new to me.  So, yeah, humor me and click the link.

I mentioned you sir. I just went with the old board joke of you and Saddy's Bi*** being the same person.

That is a ringing endorsement. Maybe I'll sacrifice something to get that album.

Dragonbreath-Good for you *golf clap*. Bethesda Arts is running wild around here. Those cats got Fallout 3 ads on the subway and downtown. Its pretty awesome to see those ads. Since that game is setted here. Starting to turn on Lelouch now?

Xreva-No headphones on me right now.

Candycornstomper-I'm the wrong person to ask that. Maybe somebody else has listened to it though.

at least t.i. is a good sport about that sorta thing. i'm gonna agree with what is said on that page, though. i don't think it's as good as "white and nerdy," but that was arguably his best parody.

i've been really hesitant about the new ice cube. i think laugh now, cry later is ok. it wasn't enough to make me excited about raw footage, and the one single that i heard from raw footage wasn't particularly appealing. hell, i don't even remember the title at this point. i just remember thinking that he could do better.

I just found this while Stumbling a little bit ago,and figured I'd see what you guys thought about it.

Also is there any releases this year I really need to check out? The only things I've heard really are When Life Gives You lemons, and Pro Tools.

What's funny is that I've got a sibling with that name. I have thought about playing that song when she's made me mad.

The begining of the last links song was kinda funny.

maybe we should have just kept using the other thread until it was locked. anyway, i acquired evolver. listening to it right now. not really any better or worse than previous albums. what stands out is how much i wanted to choke kanye after hearing "it's over." one rapper turned singer who can't really sing was enough.

Welcome to the radio stations with black djs thread!   I was going to diss the thread starters for grouping hip hop and r&b together but I realized that the genres themselves tend to commingle more than others and this trend continues into their promotion.  I do wonder why though.

don't press your luck, just touch it softly. just- very softly. yes, that's right.

If I were to pick one hip hop band as a favorite, Atmosphere would probably it.  Aside from Jedi Mind Tricks.  I'll post more Atmosphere songs on this thread

Ah, Speaking of the album Lucy Ford, Woman with the tattooed hands was the first Atmosphere song I ever heard.  That is a decent EP, though I like the Sad Clown Bad Dub ones the best, mostly 2.

That's what I was thinking. But I remember that both parts 1 and 2 were kinda abandoned instead of being posted in until the end. So that happening with part 3 just seemed like the what was suppose to happen.

I agree that it isn't better or worse than either Get Lifted or Once Again but I enjoyed both of those albums and I feel the same way about this one. And maybe I've just gotten accustomed to hearing Kanye "sing" but I like him (as in both the verse and how it's presented) on "It's Over". Yeah, it took me a while to be okay with hearing him sound like that. Now that I've heard this Kanye on a few songs, it really doesn't bother me.

i didn't think about it before because they weren't floated. i suppose i could say something to a mod, but i'm too lazy even for that. as far as kanye is concerned, you shouldn't be ok with that. i don't think i'll ever see you the same way.
