This isn't possible as is, so here is my adjustment...

My Top Five By Category for the time being...

Hip Hop

1. cLOUDDEAD - Ten

2. Prinzenallee - Don't Let Nerds Take Over Your Life

3. Sole & The Skyrider Band - S/T

4. The Pedestrian - UnIndian Songs

5. Buck 65 - Secret House AGainst The World

Post Punk

1. Black Eyes - Cough

2. Milemarker - Furuisms

3. Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crimes

4. Cap'n Jazz - Anaplhabetapolothology

5. Happy Go Licky - Will Play

Singer/Songwriters

1. The Mountain Goats - Full Force Galesburg

2. Victor Villareal - Alive

3. Jeffery Lewis - 12 Crass Songs

4. Tom Waits - Raindogs

5. Paul SImon - Graceland

"Indie Rock"

1. Owls - Owls

2. Why? - Alopecia

3. Joan Of Arc - Live In Chicago, 1999

4. Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage (Animation Music)

5. Built To Spill - Perfect From Now On

It will have changed by the time I post this.

An Ecclectic Mix
A (Mostly) Underground Hip Hop Mix
I made these as a better way to explain to people what kind of music I like but I suppose you could use LastFM if you wanted to cheapen it.
When I make music... my mission statement is to be the Tim Kinsella of Hip Hop, the Al Burian of Singer/Songwriters, and the Dose One of punk rock!
I used to have 500 cds now i have none,
but when it comes to vinyl, my Fugazi weighs a ton...

3. Pink Floyed Dark Side of the Moon

4. Queensryche Operation Mindcrime

5. Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV

I kind of feel that I should have more jazz on here, but whatever.

I'll try:

1) Jawbreaker -- Bivouac

2) The Replacements -- Let It Be

3) R.E.M. -- Murmur

4) Jets To Brazil -- Orange Rhyming Dictionary

5) Hmm...I don't know. I guess Max Richter's Songs From Before.

I find it hard to do these things because the copious amounts of music and their different genres make me want to list in sub-categories, but I'm far too lazy for that.

Do you smell that?

fuuuuuudge, that's hard

1. minutemen -- double nickels on the dime
2. sonic youth -- sister
3. stooges -- fun house
4. ennio morricone -- death rides a horse OST
5. unwound -- leaves turn inside you

first 2 have been set in stone for the last 20+ years, other 3 rotate very frequently

3. The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

5. Queens of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf

Not too sure about the last two, but this was really hard.

Pretty much impossible to answer. Here's an unordered list of albums that would definitely be considered strong contenders:

In the Aeroplane over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? - of Montreal
Hold On Now, Youngster... - Los Campesinos!
This is Happening - LCD Soundsystem
Friend Opportunity - Deerhoof
The original and best.

"Inventions for the New Season" - Maserati

"Music Has the Right to Children" - Boards of Canada

"In on the Kill Taker" - Fugazi

"Blue Train" - John Coltrane

"Those Once Loyal" - Bolt Thrower

"California" - Mr. Bungle

"In Absentia" - Porcupine Tree

"Karma" - Kamelot

"Panopticon" - Isis

"The Arcane Odyssey" - Sear Bliss

This is too tough. Except for the first two, any of these could make my top five and there's at least a few more off the top of my head that I would consider good enough to make it.

I f*cking love steak.

subject to change at any time and / or be completely wrong :

Built to Spill - The Normal Years

Mountain Goats - Zopilote Machine

Yo La Tengo - I Can Feel the Heart Beating as One

Maybe American Football?

and I am content to lazily round it out by ripping off HonorableCloud's 4) Jets To Brazil -- Orange Rhyming Dictionary

No my favorite album by them is tainted with a couple downright horrible songs, some albums on the peripheral are by Guido Boy Voices + New Trail Milk Hostel.
