I forget, what episode is it this week? I know we are getting close to the end of 2nd Gig.

It's really sad that GitS isn't more popular than it is. It's one of the most well written shows and it has very fluid, high tech animation.  But the young kids these days are al about shonen, so GitS might become dust in the wind.

i'm guessing most of the bleach and geass viewers are teenagers, with some in their early twenties. ghost in the shell is kinda old news at this point. if we get a third season, and [adult swim] gets it, i bet it'll be quite popular again...

I really hope so. I would like to see the anime old-schoolers come back here. We had such great discussions back in the day, now they all go to OA as far as I know. I'm not going in there. OA is serious business.

It would be nice if this show was more popular again. But I guess the Bleach, FMA, Code Geass, and Inuyasha's are more for the age groups that are currently watching anime on Adult Swim. :smileyindifferent: I wish they would play a GitS movie one day.

Hey guys! Been quite a while since I ventured into this folder. Been too long the way I see it. Anywho, I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about the live-action movie that was supposedly being made? I'm really curious to see it if it ever comes out.

The last I'd heard, it seemed like it was stuck in some variety of Production Hell, which seems to be the case for most/all of the live-action anime projects that have been proposed over the last few years. (Excluding Speed Racer and Dragonball, I guess, but those didn't exactly do so hot.) This is the most recent update I've seen on it, and that was some time ago.

Man, leave it to a crap film like Dragonball: Evolution to ruin a potentially good film for the rest of us.

I think that most of these projects would still be in the current holding pattern even if Dragonball or Speed Racer or Astro Boy had performed reasonably well. With the economy the way it is, now isn't the best time to heavily pursue projects based on unproven properties.

Well the thing is, that Ghost in the Shell has a built-in audience that would watch it. The hard part is marketing the movie to the more common people who may not have a clue what it is. And then some idiot will say it's a Matrix rip-off and then interest will be lost. So I think its just a matter of overcoming that problem and finding a way to make the movie appealing to the general audience. But, by doing that, they risk alienating the original fans that have wanted to see this.
